It's interesting the "show vs boots" thing.

People say you shouldn't judge the show unless you were there, but frankly, I've seen a lot of boots of stuff that I thought were amazing, (eg Slash playing Anastasia on youtube) and I've seen in-person shows where all the atmosphere and mixing in the world couldn't save a poor vocal performance (eg Motley Crue last year in melbourne).

To my ears:

In 2002 Axl was using no rasp but appeared to still have very strong breath control, but demonstrated a prefrence to stay out of his mid range register or whateverer....seemed to be all high raspless and low strnegth only..no mids...like a person trying to sound like him.

In 2006...he was using those incredible high screams, then the midrange sounded a bit strange like a cover of himself still...but there was a lot of killer high parts to compensate it...and there was a lot of power behind it...very long screams etc....lot of rasp....

In 2009/10 still using rasp...but with less long screams in general....although still had a lot of power in moments...(eg twat screams in japan). Sometimes seemed to resort to screaming out parts that arn't normally screamed...eg that version of nighttrain where he yells nearly the whole first verse in the raspy voice. I think was using it to just power through parts that were stressful to sing cleanly.

In 2011/12 - return to less rasp, screams tend to be clean and much shorter in length...seems to have less breath control than on previous tours.

No disrespect to him...that's just what I'm hearing if I'm honest....don't mean to bash axl though I believe he could still write and release amazing music...I'm just saying if you want to play 10 boots of nighttrain back to back from different eras I can hear these changes happen...

Yeah man, he's getting older. He's 50, don't get your hopes up for him sounding like he's 25 when he hits 55  cause he's gonna sound worse than ever 5

he definitely doesn`t sound worse than 2011. no fuckin way! i was stunned how great he sounded on paradise city in mönchen gladbach to be honest.

Ya man, I was blown away by his performance, the lad I was with couldnt believe how good Axl was. I spoke to a lot of people in work who went, younger and a lot older people than me and the verdict was unanimous, the concert was brilliant. I honestly expeted to here grumbles and moans about the start time etc cause thats all you here in the media but noone gave a fuck, like I said in my review - I was one of the first out of there when I left during the encore, the place was packed right until the end, people loved it, and I was genuinally one of the first to call it a night, i never had to queue to get out the car park which usually takes hours, I was back in my house in about half an hour 9

Why do you think Axl will never again tour "your area"?

Just curious. He seems to like hitting up Europe and South America.

The dudes 50, he's released one album in about 20 years and it took an army of technicians and a zillion dollars for him to do it. GNR's came to Scotland twice in the entire history of the band, 2006 & 2012... whens he gonna come next, after "the new album"  pfffffffffffffffffft good luck for anyone waiting on that 16

Nah I've said it for a long time, I consider this his swan song. I hope I'm wrong and he has at least one last hurrah in him, but I just dont see it. But if there is ever another GNR album that comes along I'm gonna be really interested to see what Axl writes about, CD seemed to be a fitting end to a big chapter in his life, lyrically and creatively where does he go from here?

I dunno what to tell ya's, I seen Axl and GNR a month ago, he looked and sounded great and the whole band were awesome. He wasnt as strong on some songs as he was on others but so fuckin what, it's live not memorex fucko's!

Personally I'm scunnered that I'll never have the chance to see it again, he aint come round my way again any time soon, more likely never again. Right now I'm trying to coax some of my amigos to hop on a plane with me and jet out from Glasgow to Spain to catch the final show of the euro tour, and thanks to the killer show and positive impression GNR left in this town I'm not having to try too hard, folks are more pissed they missed it when the show was in town and we are on a mission to pull together the funds to invade Espainia like the drunken herd of desperados that we are.

Wrong.

He didnt look remotely fat when I seen him and sounded pretty fucking great. Looking back at the Reading footage from 2010, he was a lot chubbier then than now.

Ah yes, I remember he was squeezed in for his epic dog whistle work on CD, Gilbys there for TSI.

Seems like everyone in Axls world is on the payroll or at least onto a nice little earner somehow, pretty sad when you think about it.

One thing I would suggest given the evolution of Gn'R and the name of this site itself,  is a new banner at the top of the site. I realize it's not as easy as clicking a button and at the same time it's kinda long over due since it's outdated as DJ isn't even on it.  Also as cool as the current one looks I've never been overly keen on Buckethead being the figurehead of the banner.  In my honest opinion if we're to support the new band while respecting the old band I think Bucket, Robin and Paul should be in the shadowy background ala Slash, Izzy and Gilby while DJ, Ron and Richard should be front and center.  There's 9 of them so 3 CD era guys to the left, 3 current guys in the middle, 3 AFD/Illusion guys to the right.

Just a suggestion. Or something totally new and fresh.

I agree on this 100%.

Unfortunately, I know not one thing about design/web design. Anyone in the user base with talent in that regard? If so, I'd love to see someone come up with something that fits and we could switch it out.

I believe hell will have to freeze over before Lofton lets Fortus and DJ get a spot on the banner 16
