Slash's melodies on FTP and LTA own all for me.

I am negative only because no record does better than its first week sales. Take a look at the charts. Most albums decline anywhere from 50 to 60 percent 2nd week. So 50 percent of 300k is 150k for CD and then it usually goes down from there

what people don't understand about radio, this day and age especially where more are tuning to satellite radio, radio stations have limited number of spots. They are going to play the most popular stuff to get the most listeners.

if GNR lay an egg with their first 2 singles, radio will not even waste their time with a third single. Thats just the way it went.

look at libertad for example.  She Builds Quick Machines bombed then The Last Fight didn't do anything, so guess what? NOBODY played Get out The Door.

same with CD. Everything is riding on Better. If it sucks and no one likes it, fewer stations are gonna give any other New Gnr Songs airplay thus killing the record.

Axl has to do interviews to get radio stations to play it. Its a give and take business. U give them something, they give u something. Radio aren't gonna keep being ignored and then play the shit out of CD songs.

I was watching football today as I always do on Sunday and I heard WTTJ probably 15 times.

Listening to Jungle, I realized everything CD isn't and why it isn't going to be hugely successful

CD would be great for a Queen/Meat Loaf  Elton John album but for GNR it just isn't a GNR album

That doesnt take away the quality of the CD. I love it and think it is phenomenal but next to Jungle, you can tell how different it is and can guess why a lot of people aren't into it.

Gene thinks up his ideas. He just doesn't put his name on stuff other people think up.

Facts are Gene is one of the most successful musicians of all time, Axl plays for 5k people.

Thats because Kiss have always treated their fans with the utmost respect and have always busted their ass every single show pleasing them whereas Axl does not.

U can talk shit about Kiss all u want but the facts remain the facts.

Axl could take a few lessons from him on that.

the latest rumor i heard was like 1.5million units for 8 or 9 bucks a peice

but I dont know anything that would confirm or deny those #'s ... it may have been madagas posting something he read @ another forum

but if its 1.5 @ $9 per then you are looking at $13.5mill up front...there goes the initial debt

so the gnr advance is cleared up and all the songs that had been leaked are now in circulation...also best buy is making about $4 profit off each disk they sell....its a pretty sweet deal for all involved

I don't buy that

It doesn't take a math major to figure out what a horrible deal that would be for Best Buy.

Id say Best buy bought 1.5 million but if they  paid 9 bucks a CD and only made 4 bucks a cd, they'd lose 8 million dollars.

That aint gonna happen

I'd say they paid 4 dollars a CD and are making 9 dollars a CD.

That makes more cents *mispelling intentional*

Jon Bon Jovi said it best

With a hit single u sell out stadiums, without a hit single, u are barely filling Arenas.

Chinese Democracy was a horrible first single and the band are paying the consequences for yet another horrible decision.

Contraband is one of the best workout CDs ever

That is a fact.

Every complaint I hear is it isn't a GNR album

For better or worse you are who u are. U can evolve and change but u have to keep the elements that made people a fan in the first place.

CD has few of those elements in my opinion.

It is an amazing record.

I say this with Prince all the time.

if you took some of Prince's albums and had a brand new artist release it, they would be mega million sellers and albums of the year but because people already have their minds made up about him, he doesn't get a fair shake.

same with Axl, if he had released it as Axl Rose, maybe people wouldn't be so disappointed that nothing on it sounds or kicks ass like anything on appetite.

Its a great record, just not a great Guns N Roses record because it is just such a new style etc.

It would be like if Rob Thomas released that crap solo album he did under Matchbox 20 or if Jon Bon Jovi had released his solo albums under Bon Jovi. they wouldn't have been well received.
