#3381 Re: Guns N' Roses » have the leaks killed the hype? » 870 weeks ago
Only for us maybe. The general public doesn't know or give two shits about the leaks so that won't have an impact at all on them. I honestly think whe they release Better things will pick up alot. Axl voice will be recognizeable and people will like that song better. It's much more radio friendly at least. Radio listeners will respond much more to a familar voice

Let me clarify. I don't think his voice sounds awful on Chinese Democracy. I do think it sounds god awful at times in some of the other sonsg though. Axlin08 is 100% right though. The over production of he vocals on Chinese Democracy ruins it. there's no need for the triple layer of vocals. Like Madagascar said the "punk" style voice was all that was needed.

I honestly wonder if these people have heard It's So Easy. Just goes to show you that the term "casual fan" is literal. They've probably only heard WTTJ, SCOM, PC, and NR. People assume because he's singing in a deeper voice that he has lost his voice. They're fucking morons though because it's part of his range. It's part of what makes him an impressive singer.
No they aren't fucking morons cause then I'd be one of them. You watch when people start hearing songs like If the World and The Blues or Streets of Dreams or whatever it's called people are gonna think his voice sounds awful. I'm one of them. The vocals on CD are NOT that of an impressive singer. And I'm guess alot of people who listen to rock radio have in fact heard It's so Easy.
I truely belive alot of you are gonna come crashing down to earth when it becomes clear that a huge number of people are not gonna be impressed with this stuff and alot of the complaints will be about his voice. It doesn't make people morons to have that opinion. People know Axl can sing in a lower voice. I'm sure many of them have heard Patience. Some of you are honestly gonna have to find a way to deal with the fact that Axl's voice has changed and for most people it's not a change for the better. It's gonna be pretty lame in here if those who don't like the album are close minded retards while those who do are musicaly educated and open minded

I know I'm biased, but I honestly think the majority of people saying they hate the song had their minds made up before they even listened to it.
I think you're totally wrong there Faldor. I never had my mind made up at all and I don't think Chinese Democracy or any of the new materail is all that great. People seem to be pointing out the same issues I have. Aweful production, less than stellar vocals. It is what it is man. Alot of people aren't gonna like this and it's not because they've already made their mind up, cause the truth is the vast majority of people don't care one way or the other. The overwhelming majority have no axe to grind with Axl. The material just isn't that strong.

Well I'm starting to get hooked. This is crazy. I had honestly lost hope for this album ever seeing the light of day. I'm super curious to see how this does. The promo seems pretty cool so far. I'm still strong on my stance that I won't be buying the album but the end of the story seems to be in sight. I'll be able to "put down the book" finally.
#3386 Re: Guns N' Roses » Guns N' Roses Best Buy promotional ads » 870 weeks ago
I'll admit the short promo clips kind of excited me. If I had seen that on tv without any knowledge of what was going down I'd likely shit myself.

I think Robin will be back and I think his work will stay in tact on the album.
Robin shouldn't come back. Man I saw new Gn'R live and NIN live and there is no comparison. Robin fits so amazingly well in NIN and what they're doing live is so much more excitng and interesting. I don't know. It just seems to me being in NIN would be a hell of a lot more fun and rewarding at this point in time.

Well I wonder if the hysteria has dropped a notch or two or three. ... maybe four. Yesterday I heard Chinese Democracy played 6 times over a 12 hour period on the same station. Today I heard it once over 9 hours. I wokr out of a truck so the radio is on all day. I called into the radio station today after I heard it and talked with the DJ. He isn't sure whether he likes it or not but he did say without any suggestion from me that he thinks the production is terrible and that if this is the lead single he doesn't have much hope for the album. I told him in my opinion it's not the best song off the album. Though it does sound better than the leaks I agree with him about the production. I think this is gonna be a real problem with the album. The DJ said the feedback from their listeners has been not so good. In fact he said alot of people have been calling and e-mailing to say the music sounds pretty good but the vocals and lyrics suck. To prove his point he actually played a call on air after I hung up where the guy asked "Could you guys play that song again but without the lyrics" Ouch. I have a buddy who works at the station and he basically said the same. Music is tight, vocals are weak.
Personally I like hearing it on radio. I just find it amusing that others are actually lsitening to this now. It dos sound diferent than the standard rock radio stuff which is good I think. But at least here in Central Alberta the reaction from most people seems to be negative. Yesterday it was split from the people I talked to but the more people I've talked to since than the pedulum has definately swung towards the negative side.

Street teams for bands the size of Gn'R are lame haha. U2 I'm sure has them too and honestly what's the freaking point? Walk around handing out flyers? haha

A huge part of me is really sad this didn't happen sooner(2006). Hey I admit it the whole process eventauly jaded me to the point where my interest is based on closure rather than excitement. It sucks to be honest but I'm genuinely happy for you guys.
