Anyone notice the differing sound levels between some songs? Also the difference in the sound levels for instruments, like drums between some songs?

You know how you can burn some songs from Appetite, Illusions and Spaghetti Incident on to one disc. Its obvious when you play it back that the songs come from different sources.

These songs dont sound as cohesive as you would expect from songs off the same album, its like they have literally picked out the songs for this album from a large selection and then done no more.
It sounds like each song has been worked on individually but the soundscape of the album as a whole hasnt been regarded, they have just assumed that it would be ok and it wouldnt be noticable.

Its pretty pathetic that they never worked tirelessly to create a flawless product, you would think with the sheer magnitude of this release, no stone would be left unturned.

I'm very disapointed with the overall finished quality of this product, I'm awaiting to see these "updated"  linar notes  to see if anyone bothered to proof read the finished edition. I'm not holding my breath though.

I also noticed a couple of glitches, actually during songs like something was missing for a second or two, cant remember now, I'll need to give another listen.

There is something really screwed up with TWAT though, as Axl screaming comes to an end and Buckets main solo starts - the solo comes in loud and a split second to early, it cuts off the very final few moments of Axl - its only a split second.
I'll be accused of nitpicking but its quite obvious. Its almost like that guitar solo was digitally removed and then its been pasted back in.

And the way they have tried to paste Franks slowed tempo drum fill over the top of Brain on to the end of the original Buckethead IRS solo is pretty woeful.

The poor production is unforgivable in this day in age. Teenagers can sit at home with a few instruments and computer and produce a superiorly mixed album than this.

Remember - "recording is done, now we're doing the mixing and mastering" - or words to that effect on the official website. Years that took, and yet its just another farce.

Not all songs are poorly mixed, Shacklers, Sorry and Prostitute seem ok. I think the majority really needed to be mixed much better, 10 years obviously wasnt a long enough for them

Remember than last original modern GNR production released, Live Era? Coincidence or not, that album was ruined by piss poor production as well.

Am I wrong in thinking del james had a role in the mixing and mastering of Live Era and he was the spokesman on the official website I quoted above?

Mike Piazza played it on the Trunk show on April fools after he got it sent to him anonimously. Hardly anyone heard it and few people believed it. There was no evidence because Trunk removed it from the records straight away and they sent the disc back to GNR.

A year later on April fools a recording emerged, apparantly some boy had held a microphone or a phone up to the speaker that night and had recorded IRS and had now put it online. That was this really crackly version that was floating around until the 06 leak.

Crazy days, and we to think were all thankful for those meagre rashings

I made a post somewhere about this, I listened to the song stoned and realised that standing on its own the music isnt that bad, its actually not bad.
But they have lifted and pasted vocals from basically a different song and just stuck them on top of this new version.
Axl isnt singing to this version, its the old one he's singing to. They just dont compliment each other the way the old one did because of this.
Unbelievable that such a lazy error could happen, I have said it before, this song could have became to Axl what Imagine did to John Lennon.
