I'll even go so far as to say something that will probably get me chastised: I think none of the nine leaks we have now (10 if you include CITR) match up to VR's Slither or even FTP & Messages. If this was a celebrity deathmatch, Slash&Duff have ripped Axl a new one.
I agree 100% on Slither. It trumps anything Axl's Gn'R has done in my opinion.

I think all of whats happened in the last few days could well be a smokescreen....to get the world talking about GNR again. Velvet Revolver has no singer, and Guns N' Roses guitarists are leaving. Could a reunion be in talks within closed doors? I still think a reunion is more likely than the CD. Think of it....what songs is left for the album that we haven't heard? Where those leaks done deliberately by someone at the record label? Maybe the main focus was on a reunion the whole time? I know some will call me crazy...but its my theory.
I could see it. I joked about this yesterday in the chatroom saying that maybe it was Axl himself who leaked these simply to get CD off his chest so the original lineup can start recording the follow up and planning the tour:haha: hey it cold happen.
Saddly I have to agree with Mikkamakka when it comes to the success of CD. I honestly think it's gonna tank big time. Critically and commercially. Better is the only hope for a hit single based on what we've heard so far. One big problem with these songs is there is no cohesion within each individual song. Many people have voiced their concern over this very issue. Another problem is if you play all 9 songs back to back to back they all sound like one long mess. The synthesizers are killing these songs. The stand out is Better cause it's catchy and sounds different. But seriously listen to TWAT and the Blues and then #2 and they all have the same vibe. And seriously at what point did Axl decide that guitar solos need to take place along side a sythesized symphony orchestra. It's on every damn song. Axl voice doesn't help cause it sounds redundent. Like he's singing the same song over and over again. I think it's cause he layers his voice too much so we're always hearing the same voice. Like Mikkamakka also mentioned there really seems to be a total lack of solid ideas or focus. I'm well aware that there's a huge amount of ambition going on but ambition without a foundation really isn't a good thing. This might sound weird but I don't think it's good that we have such varying opinions on the songs. I mean some people hate #2, I personally think it's a top 3 CD era song. Too bad the drums suck on it. Some people like IRS I fucking hate it. Is it really such a good thing when the opinions on a song vary to such degrees? I mean if a song was truely great wouldn't we all agree? Who doesn't like Jungle? PC? SCOM? Nightrain? YCBM? Coma? You see what I'm getting at? Here's how I rank the songs:
1. Better
2. Madagascar
3. #2
4. Chinese Democracy
5. The Blues
6. If the World
7. TWAT
8. Riyadh and bedouins
9. IRS
I'll go on record right now and say I still very much think we'll see a reunion before this album is released and in my opinion the next official Gn'R album will feature Slash and Duff along side with Axl. It may not be called Chinese Democracy but it'll contain CD material. These latest leaks have done nothing to change my opinion on that.
#3543 Re: Guns N' Roses » What the hell is going on at MYGNR.Com? 9 new leaks?! » 888 weeks ago
I've got them. I know which one is Rhiad and I'm trying to figure out which ones the other two are.
#3 is If the World and #2 is still unknown.
#3544 Re: Guns N' Roses » Song #2 (Unknown Title) » 888 weeks ago
having said that ^^ the drums on this song suck so bad. Almost to the point of ruining the song. They definately ruin the sublime outro.
#3545 Re: Guns N' Roses » Song #2 (Unknown Title) » 888 weeks ago
This is the best of the new leaks and maybe the 3rd best CD song for me behind Better and Madgascar. This one sounds more honest and genuine and less forced than the other new leaks and on the rare occasion the song itself actually shines through the production. It has somewhat of a timeless feel to it.

I think this material stands up to UYI, is a very worthy edition to the GN'R catalogue. I do sometimes tire of it though, it doesn't seem to have the staying power that all the layering should create. What I really feel CD is meant to be, is like a firmly rock ridden version of NIN's The Fragile. Because of the layering, complexity, and grand production value... but it's not. I often think mixing NIN with Guns would create amazing material. Throwing in Axl and guitar solos to The Fragile like orchestral and acoustic music backdrops, you'd think, would create mindblowing pieces. But for every If The World, there's a Madagascar, which just doesn't get there.
It's not the greatest thing ever.
It's pretty damn great though.
It's weird how wide ranging the opinions are when it comes to the new material. I'm more of the opinion that for every Madagascar(2nd best CD song in my opinion) there's an If the World that doesn't quite get there. The most truthful thing that Axl ever said just might be when he suggested there will be stuff some people love, stuff that some people hate but there will be something for everyone.
#3547 Re: Guns N' Roses » Riyadh and the Bedouins leak » 888 weeks ago
I think the opinions on this song are gonna be weighed by how that fan feels about "Oh My God." It's definately in that vein. I really, really dig this leak. I loved "Oh My God," too. "Better" is like a bridge between those two songs and the other material that's leaked. To me, the most old school sounding leak was probably "Catcher in the Rye."
I completely disagree with that suggestion. Oh My God is total shit in my opinion. Riyadh's is one million times better than Oh My God. At least to me it is, so that theory doesn't really work.

has anyone else had problems on youtube over the last few months with roughly 90% of the videos coming up as "We're sorry this video is no longer available" ? Seriously youtube has become a huge waste of my fucking time lately. It used be one of the greatest things ever and now it's a piece of shit.

I'm trippin than. the intro is cool but as a song overall... MESS! very throw away b-side material at best. better than IRS but not much. The only saving grace is the guitars are fairly heavy. the trebble in this song sucks. way too much high end shit. Sounds like a good demo. Axl sounds good on this song though.
#3550 Re: The Sunset Strip » KID ROCK BOYCOTTS ITUNES » 888 weeks ago
Fuck itunes. Good for Kid Rock(even though he's doing t base on lack of compensation). I hate itunes. I don't buy my music from itunes I buy actual albums and it pisses me off that itunes and my favoprite artosts negotiate terms where bonus material is only available via itunes. Fuck itunes and to an extent fuck my favorite artists(yes U2 among others) when it comes to this issue. It rips the traditional music fan off. Oh the poor artist bitching about lack of album sales yet they make certain material available only through itunes. yeah great idea douche bags. Go Kid Rock! Go Beatles! Go AC/DC! and Go Garth Brooks?
