He started growing his beard in 03/04 though, there was pictures of him on his website, on holiday touring different parts of the world, looking like a hobo.
Didnt he say to someone he wasnt going to shave until GN'R released CD?
I dont think he grew a beard as part of some weird ceremony, taunting GN'R fans about his secret oath, signed in blood with the devious Trent Reznor.
Mabye he heard the final mixes to Chinese Democracy and thought "What da fuck is this shiiiit????! TAXI!!!!!"
"Trents house my good man and step on it!"

I downloaded TWAT, I think its a fan edit of the MSL leak. Where Tommys bass which is so apparant on the outro on the Skewrl leak? Not there from what I hear.

No I suppose you might think it had always sounded bad.

OK listening to Catcher just I realised something.
I got in tuned to the music, its different version obviously but something suddenly stood out.
The music seems to flow fine, that backing track works well enough on its own, the new guitars etc sound ok. They are not wonderful but not as bad as I first thought. They have obviously been given the basic structure of the song to work on and made their own intepretations.
The big problem I'm detecting is these vocals were sung to match the other version, and have just been lifted and pasted onto this version.
There are moments with serious clashes, the vocals and music in the outro are not following the same hymn page!
I used to be a dj locally and was pretty good, I used to try some far out stuff like trying mash ups between songs live, trying to make new songs out of them. Its pretty obvious when some songs dont flow together, thats why when you get it right, it sounds brilliant, get it wrong and it will sound a mess.
In Catcher the vocals and the music dont always tie in together, its not glaringly obvious because they are not 2 completely different songs, but the decision to lazily paste the old vocals onto a new track has backfired.
They just dont work with each other, the first half of the song is not too bad, its fine actually, but the 2nd half when things get moving.... oh dear. The clash of musicians and singer has completely derailed from the fact, that this is a really good song.

Why is Scraped called Scraped?
Who does the main solo, the book says Ron and Bucket play solos. If its Ron then wow, I underestimated his style because I'm listening to it a little stoned asnd drunk and thought it was fucking amazing!
If its Bucket, then it seems like this was the kind of fucked up shit Ron heard in his head and tried to emulate when he played Shacklers and Riad solos, but in his haste to be better than bucket forgot about the soul and concentrated on techicallity.

Spoiler Alert -
Looks like the lyrics to Chinese Democracy are still missing the last verse.
#3578 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy official reviews thread » 866 weeks ago
These reviews seem quite fair overall, they ask some reasonable questions of it.
That old saying "too many cooks spoil the broth" keeps springing to mind.
Some people are claiming these reviewers have an agenda, but I dont think thats the case at all, it seems to me they want to like it rather than the opposite way around.
Its a really good album but there are some things that are quite off putting.
The running theme of self pity, it may be honest but can become a little wearisome.
The many, many layers on some songs, it reeks of trying just a bit to hard to make the song sound grander.
Guitar solos such as Rons really are an aquired taste, I really cant dig them at all yet.
Catcher In The Rye, can I comment on that here? Axls vocals drift through the song in a sweet little world of their own, whilst an ugly clashing din of guitars rumbles on in the backround. It just doesnt work anymore, hence negative reviews of it.
(That song could have been to Axl what "Imagine" was to John Lennon but alas )
Not to mention the timescale it took for this to be released.
If we, the fans, have so many conflicting opinions on whats hot and whats not, it will be a tall order to get a review from a credible source thats not going to be a very mixed review.
It sounds like they like most of the songs, but there are a few on there that they dont. Thats fair enough and sounds plenty impartial to me.
If Classic Rock and the BBC are not fawning over it then batten down the hatches for some really negative reviews from the true haters out there.
It seems the old faithful of Chinese Democracy, Better, IRS, Madagascar and even Riad are carrying this album so far, unsuprising as they are very good. Prostitute Sorry and This I Love dont seem to be getting the reception that some fans crave.
#3579 Re: Guns N' Roses » Just How Long has Paul Huge been around GnR? » 867 weeks ago
He is Axls friend from Lafayette, so I guess he was a childhood friend who stayed in touch after Axl went to LA, and still stayed friends after Axl became famous.
Its unsurprising him and Slash never got along because Huge would have seen things from Axls perspective, and Slash had his own differing opinion of things.
