#351 Re: Guns N' Roses » Will GNR release new music in 2021? » 202 weeks ago
jw224 shared this Slash interview from 2019 before the fall tour that year. Totally flew under my radar and it was him saying 100% for certain that after those fall dates in 2019 it was straight on to finishing off the new album. It also aligns with what Fernando has said in 2020 about how this all would have kicked off a year ago if the pandemic hadn't happened.
I am becoming increasingly confident that an album is incoming.

I don't seem tp have Soul Monster or Berlin in my Village leaks. Can anyone help please?
Oklahoma = Berlin
Me and My Elvis is suspected to be Elvis and Monster of Soul aka Soul Monster. Not confirmed though.
You should have those two if you got the whole set.

Quicksong, Tonto, Zodiac, Mustache, Oklahoma, Me and My Elvis, Curly Shuffle all sound ready for lyrics and vocals to be written for them. Some of those songs probably could still use a bit of work instrumentally but they sound structurally almost finished.
Other instrumentals need work, a lot just loop the same shit over and over. Ironically, he did some basic vocals for some of these before the more complete sounding tracks.
I'm willing to bet he's got a lot of shit in the tank, based on what we've observed, heard and read.

I agree it would be a travesty for Oklahoma to not be released. Out of what we've heard, they don't have a better rocker.
Same with Soul Monster although if I had to pick between the two....I'll take Oklahoma.
Skydog was just making the point that we know that after CD, there were 22 finished songs ready to go.
Go look at the Village Sessions track list.
It doesn't take a mathematician to figure out which songs are going to be in the 22.
As far as instrumentals back then, Oklahoma was not the only song heard like that. There were several others....some which were released thirteen years ago.
He had barely started tackling vocals at that point. We're lucky to have heard as many as we have.
Also songs that have been mentioned as written after 01. By all accounts more emerged in the 02-04 period. There's probably more than is on those Village leaks. After that it appears to have truly become just tinkering and legal wrangling.

Also Hardschool doesn't really have the CD outtake baggage as Absurd does. Cause really how many people have heard the Hardschool leak? It like didn't have any press or anything.
Edit
One more thing....
Smart to just credit Absurd to Guns N Roses in general.....as I'm sure the rest of the material will be.
I wonder what that means in terms of the contractual relationship between geffen and gnr. Gnr owed Geffen 1 more album, so does this mean there is a "new" deal with geffen?
It looks better than listing a bunch of the CD band members as writers on the song.
Who knows what their contracts with the band said about writing credits. Maybe legally behind the scenes they still get their royalties and it's just not listed. Perhaps they signed those away in exchange for their retainer fees. We don't really know - and to be honest the personal finances of ex members isn't our business, so we don't need to know.
It would be nice to see the detailed writing credits for these songs, out of fan curiosity though. If/when an physical release happens, maybe then we'll get details in the proper liner notes.

Fair point.....BUT....
She's the manager now!
Whatever they're doing....it needs to happen at a quick pace. Let's not have a repeat of the CD years where it all leaks long before release.
i always wondered how much of CD's release was due to all the songs leaking months before its actual release date, or if the leaks were due to more people having it as it entered into production. I'll take the leaks today, and buy a couple different versions of the album when/if it ever comes out.
After rereading Whispers today, it seems clear that some tracks were “A-listed” and destined for the album for a long time: CD, Better, IRS, TWAT, Maddy, The Blues, Prostitute, Rhiad and If The World all meant for the record. Signs were there before the Antiquiet leaks in 08.
Shackler wasn’t known until it was picked for Rockband (and leaked shortly after). Scraped was a total surprise, so not a leak pick. Sorry stayed unleaked, but as the album was nearing completion and Axl was previewing it more to people in 06/07 Baz mentions it. TIL was included after Robin convinced Axl late on.
That leaves Cacther... only mentioned early on on the saga, leaks in 06, still never mentioned after that and then it appears bastardised on the final release. It may have been a leak pick. The rest seemed like they were in the orbit of being chosen for the final tracklist for a while.

I think technically she’s Axl’s manager and Fernando is band manager. Not sure that makes any difference though.

How could anyone take this as disrespectful to fans? I mean, ugggh, this hyper crybaby stuff is embarrassing.
Good to know this is part of a larger rollout of an album, though.
Agreed, some fans are ridiculous.
I'm not counting my chickens on an album either. 1) It's Beta, not everything she says actually happens 2) It could be a misunderstandinf of what she meant.

On whose IG page did she says this? She's been trolling multiple IG pages over the past few days.
She was replying to someone who replied to one of her own posts.
