Slash is right though, it is different now. People use social media to promote music, not really a GN'R thing.
As you said, CD was affected by the record company, and the Best Buy deal was all about making the money back they put into the recording costs.
UYI had Terminator 2
How does GN'R release a new record and stand out, especially in a year when a lot of bands are releasing albums. The forum fans will just want the band to release an album, but it does have to capture the attention of casual fans.
By making an insanely good classic rock album. Whilst there is a whole load of trash out there these days I think people still no a good song when they see one.
I didn’t buy the GNR box set. I felt is was vastly overpriced. But I would dig deep for a new double album with all the trimmings if it was as good as UYI.
How to promote it? Get out there and be passionate and talk about it would be a good start.

I suspect the record company has a lot to do with this - the band make most of there money through tours but the rc will want to milk new music for all its worth...

Agreed. Slash seems to have it down to a tee with his solo albums so I have no idea why he’s struggling. I agree with Otto - how do they take the material and raise it to ‘classic gnr standard’ is probably the issue.

They seem to be doing a good job of keeping things quiet if an album is being planned.
I’m hoping things work out this year. I hope that the band can also maintain the quality we’ve come to expect from a GNR album.

I think we killed this guy by mistake. Probably thought it was a caravan of more protesters, or we had bad intel, but it totally sounds like we're making up reasons we killed someone we weren't planning on killing.
The Hellfire missiles were intended for protestors? There is no way those missiles were intended for anyone other than the target in my opinion.

If the prices are anywhere near the level I paid for the last UK appearance the I want to hear about new music first.

Can’t argue with that. Wise words from Roger Taylor!

I'm quite surprised at the lack of media coverage regarding the leaks. The 'Rick' story got some mileage, but I've seen no journalists writing about the leaks themselves. Given the hype surrounding CD you thought someone might have gone to town on it.
Perhaps no one gives a monkeys any more, or are they afraid of publicly admitting they have the leaks?

Nothing
A very small part of Elvis from 47-51 seconds really reminds me of a song - I think its Pearl Jam - and its doing my head in!
