Ron's solo is awful. I dont care how technically difficult it may be play, but it sounds like shite. I actually dont mind Rhiad and liked Buckets playing on it, his solo fitting the song perfectly. This cut and paste job with something from Ron's Shacklers Revenge session stands out like a sore thumb.
Drums are great, Axls sounds great but too many oohs and aahs for my liking, they start to wear thin.

It does have great energy though, I cant wait to crank it loud. Possibly the best rocker on the album, I would pick this over Shackler's any day of the week.

Nope its whistling for sure, its a nice little melody but all too brief. Mabye when I get the album and play it on the stereo more whistling will be obvious during the song, but thats all I noticed. Those instant messenger noises are brain damage and you cant really just take in the music as you normally do.

I just noticed Axl whistles in Sorry, is this old news ? smile I always wanted a new song with whistling.

During the line, "truth is the truth hurts, won't you agree"  (3.55) there is a little whistle going on underneath the vocals.

It could be that the whole mysterious, rarely seen Axl Rose is just as effective as a marketing tool as giving lots of interviews. It has been quite effective over the years in feeding his legend.

Mabye he just dislikes that side of the business so much that will just not do it. Its not so good however that the people in the band are quite reluctant to answer questions incase they say too much.

In hindsight the band havnt really done anything since pre-2002 with regards to making and recording GN'R music, thats my assumption.
Because all through the years since all of the guys have been away doing there own projects for long periods, so how much new material can they have actually made for GN'R? Sounds like Ron never actually got to play with them until more or less the eve of the 06 tour and I guess everyone got together at the same time. We know that Ron and Frank added bits after those tours so that was something new at least.
Judging by the leaks Axl never did much to change the vocals over the years,  mabye IRS and Maddy will be different when released, but now I wouldnt be suprised if they are the same.
I never really got what people were hearing on the bestbuy leak of TWAT, the vocals sounded better mixed, but otherwise just the same ones as the previous leaks.

From the sources available this whole project has been a long drawn out wasteful album session. Yet still the new talk has swung around to the elusive "big guns" that must be on the next album.
I'm sure there are some great tracks on the next album, if it is going to be released, I just wonder how many big guns they have in the vault if making one album was such an ordeal.

I have seen a picture of the actual disc.

It was on youtube and it was a collage of images, most of them we have seen, i.e the album cover and the booklet.
But one image was of the actual cd case sitting open, the back of the booklet was on the left (duh, of course) on the right was the cd sitting in place.

Its nothing spectacular, you could probably guess it in 3 goes.

It did look as genuine as any of that booklet did. It was only on youtube for a couple of hours, I wonder where the person got that pic of the disc tho, I didnt realise at the time that it wasnt out there.

Its not just the solo, its most of the song - the new guitar work just doesnt seems to compliment the emotion in the lyrics or follow the highs and lows of the song. That song was such a beautiful little tale, everything flowed so well. Now Axls vocals are the same with the same emotion, but the new music just doesnt seem to be adding anything. Its mostly the outro that is bugging me than the solo in the middle, the climatic ending of the song has been ruined. It beggars belief, wheres the harmony?

Just listened to Catcher again. I never new how damaging listening to the demos could turn out to be. It seems like a horrific cover version of the original I once knew.
I cant listen to it without screwing my face up.

I wish I could hear it without such a prejudice, it doesnt seem like everyone is working off the same page? Its really odd, its more like a mess around. It sounds more like a fecking demo than the demo!

#3609 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy Liner Note Discussions *EXTREME SPOILERS* » 868 weeks ago

Lotsa people care. But I can express doubts if I choose, I wont bend my will.

Its a good album but I'm not just not as excited anymore. Fingers crossed for a wonderful rendition of Madagascar and a rip roaring IRS, and I'll be content with it as a whole.

Well obviously I knew it was Axls album but I always believed that I accepted it as a GN'R album, now I dont.

I dont believe Axl is GN'R just because he is the only one left. He is still just old Axl, but with a mighty brand name at his disposal. Its a new frame of mind for me.

Now I really want this band, or whoever that consists of come the tour, if any tour - to stand on their own feet. Play this album out live and any other new songs you feel are not "too advanced and ahead of their time for Guns N Roses fans" (shut up Pitman, we all heard silkworms!), make this new material the main body for this band and fill in the gaps with the old classic songs.

I know I'm not adding anything new to the neverending debate, but I have honestly never felt like this since I heard the whole package. And to quote Rocky Balboa, as he singlehandedly ended the Cold War:

"If I can change!  And yoooo can chaaaaange!! Everybodyyyy caaan chaaaaaange!!!"
