My main problem with CD is Axl's lack of vocabulary and his singular songs that are extremely relevant to him, but should have been written broader so more people could relate to his music. TWAT is about Axl Rose, Estranged is about Axl Rose but subtle enough that anyone can take something from that song.

Dude!!!!!:mosh:

You have hit upon something that has really turned my world upside down in the last week or so.
I've been following this train wreck for 10 years, I truly believed that it could still be a Guns N'Roses record even without the old members, I truly believed that Axl was capable of pulling it off and had the guys with the talent to make a GN'R record that would stand tall with the bands mighty history.
The industrial elements, all the extra electronica, extra guitarists and general hoo-ha that was added to the sound never bothered me, it was quite exciting and refreshing. I liked or loved all the songs I had heard, I loved the show I attended, best gig of my life.

And now I have heard all of Chinese Democracy.... somethings changed.

I hear a whole lot of Axl Rose. I hear a whole lot of Axl Rose with Buckethead and Brain chucked in doing their thing, I hear all of that with Rons wanky bits and pieces cut and pasted onto the top of it.
I hear all of that with some quite bitter, resentful and occasionaly spiteful lyrics I have ever heard from a middle aged artist.
Its just seems like too much of Axl Rose and Axl Rose's sound with his allstar cast to convince me that this is GN'R.

Viewed as a whole, it is extremely singular like you say, and it just doesnt make me feel the way the earlier albums did.

I'm really trying hard to reserve judgement till I buy the album and digest it properly, but I'm slipping into the realisation that this is and always was an Axl Rose record.

"I wont bend my will to them" - Hmmmmm no, it seems you didnt, you dug your fucking heels in and did it your way.

Thats all well and good, but you called it Guns N'Roses.

I don't know if I'm comfortable with a record called Guns N'Roses that apparently has so much hostilty towards the guys that made that band so great.

Oh dear oh dear 17  I'm feeling confused and troubled, somethings not right here. It smells all wrong. And its not because I wish it was "like the old days", the music on this album is pretty great, but I'm still starting to have reservations..... I'm not positive that I'm feeling as supportive as I have been.

Dude, from all accounts Axl is very bitter about Slash and all of the positive press Slash gets. Havnt you noticed the words "Lie" "Lies" and "Liar" that fly out of the GN'R camp like shit off a shovel.

They use those words far to easily and readily for my liking.

I'm suprised noone has commented on how he is no longer called W.Axl Rose - it seems Dubya has been given the boot!

Its not difficult to proof read a product before giving the thumbs up. I have sent business cards back more than 10 times to the printing company before they finally got it right and I agreed that was indeed finally correct.
Its not rocket science.

Surely this is just an old example copy, that someone has got hold of and leaked.

I really hope the '99 version of Catcher in the Rye leaks in higher quality.  Why the hell did Axl take Brian May off the album?  It can't be because it was old, all his own vocals are from about ten years ago!

I cant believe whats happened to that song. It sounds like it has been re-done in one take, and a very sloppy take too.

The outro has some of the most heart felt vocals on the album and Fink and Co have somehow managed to rob the whole thing of all emotion.

I'm flabbergasted to be honest, now its just Axls vocal melodies driving the song and a half hearted backing track. That version and the old demo really highlight the difference in class in guitarists.

I'm really suprised at other changes made, the other version had so many neat little ideas working in harmony, and now..... I dont know, I should really wait till I have the album at home and playing through a decent stereo before I really get upset 17

it`s the only track i listened to since it was released on body of lies and i already listened to the bestbuyversion......

and in my opinion it`s a fuckin great song. changes are:

- the mix, it sounds fuller than the demo! the orchestra is fantastic imo
- the lalala part is quiet
- the are some different drums
- the intro is slightly changed with some drums added
- there`s some new lead guitar work by bumble added

i`m fully convinced now that this album will be killer. if you hated the songs before, chances are you won`t like the final versions as well, but i know that nomveber 22nd will be pure musical orgasm to me:thumbup:

I think its ok, I prefer the bands music on it to Axls vocals though.  I heard the bestbuy recording, it was difficult to tell what had changed.

Does If The World sound different at all to the demo?

I undertand what your saying about the reckless hate. I watched the outrageous mauling of fernando on mygnr a few months back. Honestly, that was one of the worst things I have seen on a GN'R board. Perhaps, on the flipside (is it?) but when merck became taboo on HTGTH, that was something that I really disagreed with and that also stands out as a low point on the boards.
But I was lurking on mygnr watching that fernando thread as well as being logged into the CD.com chat room. In the CD Chatroom some people were going nuts about fernando saying he was at mygnr ripping gnr fans apart, when he wasnt. He called one fan an idiot from what I remember, and from what was thrown at him, it was a fairly subdued reaction from him.
I pointed this out and nobody disagreed, they went on to complain about how unfair it was that he had heard the new music when all he was was just the son of the housekeeper! The jealousy really took me by suprise, I never really seen fernando as someone who was bigheaded or rude, who might deserve it. He seems quite decent, if a little rash. He called mysteron out in a way that was pretty hotheaded, but then publically apologised. I seen fernando popping up at that point as a red herring, because when news of the CD single hit, a couple of days after denying the press release story - he was there promptly saying "I told you Axl wasnt preparing a press release! smile )

Anyway if people are spreading the seeds of discontent behind the scenes, it wouldnt be the first time I have been informed that I'm fraternising with the enemy.
I dont really take into consideration peoples hidden agendas. Its happened in working life and personal life, I always try to take people at face value and if they not genuine, I'm usually the last to find that out.

Hurts like a bitch when you find out you were wrong about people.

Its all so much more complicated than it should be, thats why I'm hoping when the new album hits most of the negativity is diluted amongst all of the positive vibes that this release should bring.
If this album wasnt dangled like a diamond carrot for so many years and GNR had just disbanded in 95, GNR fan sites would be so much less cynical and disjointed as they are today.

Probably 35.

I dunno, but seriously. Most of the people who talk shit on the internet are mature (loosely speaking) adults.

I try to see it the mods way, but I just can't. I just can't. Those cats that run those big boards come across as little petty nerds that need two phonebooks stacked on top of each other to get up to the computer, and then get on their little nazi power trips over people, sitting behind a computer.

The same personality of teachers, that go into public schools, and get off on giving the kids a hard time for every little fucking thing they do.

I dont know about that, it must be an easy mistake to make, to take people for granted when you are getting shit thrown in your face all the time. Then you can make the error of generalising everybody as certain type and not giving them a fair hearing. I thinks some of the mods are like that.

I didnt mean to sound so self rightious, just got lost in my thoughts (bloody autism).

The point was the futility of divisions between boards, fans and the gnr camp and labelling boards or people certain things - sell outs, dictatorships, pool boys - whatever.  I think these divisions have all occurred through GN'Rs long inactivity leaving the fans with nothing better to do than squabble.
When the new music is out followed by a tour and all the trimmings, surely the bickering will take a back seat because everything is out in the open instead of being shrouded in secrecy.  After all, arent we all just here for the music?

There was a stream option. I dont know if that kept me safe, I'm sceptical. But it was probably cleaned up by a fan. I have heard a high quality version but it has all those fruit machine noises, so I guess it wsnt the real deal I heard.
