Bono's not alone on this. There are so many acts that hype each album the same way. It's almost robotic the way most claim that the "new album is the album they're always wanted to make" and so on.
Definately, but Bono is by far the worst for it, of all the bands I like
#3632 Re: Guns N' Roses » Tommy/Westerberg consider a Replacements reunion » 894 weeks ago
My God! What is this? I never stated Soul Asylum were more influential. Hell read my original post. I actually said it was the Replacements and Husker Du who influenced Soul Asylum. I never once tried to pass SA off as a huge influential 80's band. I'm not a fucking idiot. This isn't a Soul Asylum vs the Mats / Replacements thing for me. Why make it that? I like both bands but YES in my opinion David Pirner is a better singer / song writer than Westerberg. Do I need publications and critical acclaim to share my opinion for it to be a valid one? No I don't. I'm also not gonna bother searching for that source about my comment that Rolling Stone had Soul Asylum as thier best live band in America for 8 years running back in the day. I read it, I know it, end of story as far as I'm concerend. Why would I make something like that up? Especially outta the blue. It wasn't ment to be a "Well Soul Asylum are much better than the Replacements and here's why and they sold more albums and blah blah blah. " I dont' give a shit about that stuff and only a loser would come in here and make up some random bullshit coment. What would I have to gain by it? You can choose to believe that I read what I say I read or not. That's up to you. It was you who came in here and turned this into a Vs thing. "Soul Asylum a poor Man's Replacements and Mats had much more swagger and blah blah blah". Why even turn the conversation into that?
Sorry Neemo. I'm done with the Soul Asylum vs Replacements thing. Not that I even wanted to get into that to begin with at all. But Tommy did play for both bands so isnt' the conversation relevant?

always a good sign when Lanois is involved.:mosh: His U2 albums are obviously great but if you are interested in other stuff he produced, check out Bob Dylan's Time Out of Mind, Willie Nelson's Teatro, and Emmylou Harris' Wrecking Ball.:peace:
Check out Lanois' solo stuff if youre really interested. Great, great ambient music he makes. Eno's got a few good albusma s well. Atmospheric stuff for sure.
This will sound crazy but I've stopped paying attention to U2 news the last 3-4 months. It's album hype time and I hate the way they hype their albums. It's the same shit over and over again every single timr and it's mostly outta Bono's mouth. Wait for it..... Bono will come out next month and say they've recorded the "mother of all rock tunes" which will eventually be an insanely catchy radio song like....ummmm..... Vertigo lol. I love these guys but I can't stomache their own album hype durring the recording process. Maybe if Larry comenetd I'd listen but Bono's to much of spazz whe it comes to new U2 material "Punk Rock on Venus" was how he described HTDAAB. yeah thanks for setting my expectations way too far off the charts Bono haha.
#3634 Re: Guns N' Roses » Weiland identifies with Axl - RollingStone » 894 weeks ago
Well if you were Axl and you read this I am sure he said say "oh sure, a couple years ago you were calling me a fat bastard, now you see where I am coming from"
How is it that it's all their fault and none of it is Weilands fault. People have left GNR I didn't hear anyone saying, see I can see how Slash left.
Please, it's easy shot for him to take at all of them in the press. I for one don't believe it's history repeating itself, then you'd have to say that about BH, Paul Hughes, Robin Finck, they all left GNR as Slash and Duff did.
No actually if I were Axl I'd probably be like "Well now he sees what I saw" if that's in fact what's going on. Again being fat nd bald have nothing to do with it and those commenst were irelevat to begin with so why are they relevant now? They were made by a guy who felt threatend and was trying to defend himself and his bandmates. Poorly done yes, but completely irrelevant to what's being said now. As for guys saying "I can see why Slash left". I dont' need that to convince myself that Axl's a pain in the ass to work with. Too many guys have come and gone. that in itself says enough for me to believe Axl was the main ingrediant for Gn'R breaking up. The overwhelming ingrediant for it.
It just seems funny to me that Slash and Duff say the things about Scott and everyone buys it no questions asked, yet when they said things about Axl everyone is like "Oh no it can't be, Axl is the man he's not the reason there's gotta be more to it" haha Scott is the only reason yet Axl gets a pass cause people like his voice.
#3635 Re: Guns N' Roses » Weiland identifies with Axl - RollingStone » 894 weeks ago
I never said it was the ramblings of a crazy drug addict. All I am saying is whether or not he was defending his bandmates, if you are going to relate to the man atleast be like yeah I was hard on the guy but now I see where he was coming from.
I never even remotely came close to saying you said that. But to your point that he should apologize for his comments before to make his new comments more legit, I don't think so. Who cares what he said before. Doesn't make what he's saying now any less valid. the things he said before had nothing to do with what he's talking about now. Being fat and bald dont' relate to working condidtions within Gn'R so its a non issue as far as I'm concerend.

Neemo wrote:well considering the treatment that Slash admitted that they gave scott at the end i can kinda see his point...
as fo rhim identifying with Axl...i'm sure he meant it as hes seen the not so nice side of what GnR politics may have been like. and as far as Him making fun of axl and stuff....he was sticking up for his bandmates cant fault him for it
Yeah but you look really stupid for doing that and then saying that now you feel like you can identify with a man you publicly slandered and attacked and not even apologize for it or say I know I've been not to nice to him but......
he doesn't look stupid at all. Back then he was new to VR, new to the cricus of Gn'R and he was simply sticking up for his bandmates. He looked stupid for commenting about Axl the way he did back then but none of that has anything to do with his comments now. they dont' even remotely go hand in hand. Back then he didn't know. Now he has an inside view of what it may have been for Axl with Gn'R because he more than anyone has experienced what it was like to work with "Gn'R" as a lead singer. I dont' see how anything said before by Scott and anything said by him now even relates. It'd be like me bitching about college my first year and then having different view 4 years in. Things change, people learn, people experience things and opinions changed.
#3637 Re: Guns N' Roses » Weiland identifies with Axl - RollingStone » 894 weeks ago
This is nothing and in fact it makes sense that he'd say these things. he was in Axl's position. Of course he can now relate to Axl. When he made his lame comments regarding Axl he was at the time defending his current bandmebers. Nothing in this "clip" is hypocritical at all. It makes perfect sense to me. Is it Axl's fault Gn'R broke up? probably but maybe not. Scott can relate to that now. before he couldn't. What's the big deal? I don't see how anything said here can be looked at as the ramblings of a crazy drug addict.

Franzen's hat trick and Zetterberg's 360 goal were pretty fun for me to watch.
Exactly my point. You're a Wings fan, but for the rest of hockey fans who were hoping for and expecting a great series it was a huge dissapointment and not because of a lack of effort or skill or talent on Colorado's part. They just got hit insanely hard with injuries at the worst posible time. I honestly feel a healthy Avalanche team beats a healthy Red Wings team and I'm not the only one who thought this going in. Far from it. We'll never know though so it's a non issue now.

Sorry, playing against goalie that is much better than yours isn't grounds to say 'we should be up'. No, you shouldn't. Montreal has been beaten in net and in hustle, and special teams are turning around too.
I agree on the Begin call. Was a little weak for that spot in the game, but the calls in Montreal are so biased it's sickening.
Ummm.. yeah CC they should. If you can say Philly deserevs to be up 3-0 or have already won the sereis but got hosed by horrible reffing(please explain that one to me) I can say if it weren't for Biron Montreal would be up 3-1 in the series. Anyone can see that Montreal has outplayed Philly. For the most part in the games Montreal skates circels around them. It's clear Philly will get crushed by the Penguins where as Montreal would excell in that style of series(maybe not win though). Montreal didn't deserve to beat Boston but they've definately been the better team against Philly. Philly ahs managed to pick tehir spots and Biron has been the difference, plain and simple. Oh, him and the posts. Montreal has hit 8 posts this series. Bounces have been huge. Like I said in games 2 and 3 Philly was lucky the games weren't over after the first as Montreal hit 3 posts in the first period in each of those games.
