#382 Guns N' Roses » Craig Duswalt’s book online (first part) » 169 weeks ago

The opening section is posted on Google Books:

https://books.google.com/books/about/We … &q&f=false

Honestly it reads like a bunch of loosely connected, almost disjointed anecdotes, all of them over too quickly to savor.

Perhaps the rest of the book pulls it all together but so far it seems like a fun curiosity but lacking real insights.

Anyone read the whole thing?

Heard a bar band do “Night Train” (shambolic but enthusiastic) and “Paradise City” (drummer seemed to race ahead of the rest of the musicians while the singer had trouble with the flurry of words).

Made me appreciate how good GNR sounds when locked in. “Tight but loose.”

Izzy screws everybody over. He bailed on GNR, Ju Ju Hounds and New York Dolls. His nickname should be Mr. Unreliable.

What happened with JuJu Hounds and the Dolls?

Recently? What happened?

Steven pretty clearly longs to be back in the band. And he gave the first few records a swing and groove that defined the GNR sound (as well as its image).

I am pretty confident that if they once again had him at the very least in a guest spot for a few songs each night, he would sleep happily at night and be a joy for the audience.

Izzy is like the George Harrison of GNR. Not motivated by fame. But he too must hear the clock ticking. At what point might arthritis or some nerve condition set in? Think of what Clapton has dealt with.

And who the hell knows what state the world will be in anymore?

Nome of is can afford to put things off anymore. If he has any interest at all in being part of GNR he had better seize the day.

The free publicity of a “GNR classic lineup reunion gig” would easily repay whatever it cost to get Izzy and Steven back onstage.

Plus, how much money do Axl, Duff, and Slash need if it means rekindling good old memories and helping out their ex-bandmates?

At what point can they simply be magnanimous toward those guys?

#388 Guns N' Roses » Buckethead guitar pick during GNR era? » 172 weeks ago

I see conflicting information on the kind of picks Bucket uses. Right now it sounds like he prefers Dunlop Tortex Standard 0.73mm or Dunlop Nylon Jazz III XL.

Has anyone gotten a pick from him when he was in GNR? If so, what type(s) did he use back then?

Thanks!

At the moment I would love to see something new leak - it seemed to force the band’s hand last time, first in terms of the live set and then ultimately in ChiDem.

Maybe if a leak of “The General” comes out (against the current backdrop of war) it would inspire/compel Axl to play it and release a finished, official version on CD.

Whatever…..Duff wrote it in 94 and I heard Izzy was involved..people make shit up. The General was about Tommy until Brain chuckled and said it was about Chinese food …literally. Most Gnr fans are idiots

As in General Tso of tasty chicken fame?

Honestly I would prefer that to the rumored lyrics!
