Obfuscation and excuses.

Dave, this isn't a court. Heard something is hearsay if you're talking about "so and so has this and that" rumours. Heard something is evidence if you've spoke at length with someone and heard some tracks over the phone. it's also really suspicious if you then go radio silent right after that.

I give up.

Hard Skool
Absurd
Perhaps
The General
Monsters
Atlas Shrugged
Seven
Oklahoma
Updated Oh My God

Get the outstanding stuff in that list out and you've basically released most of a "CD2". If they want to be extra generous then get out whatever Quick Song became and a handful of othera and you have an albums worth of tracks.

The band's lack of information flow puts everyone into such a desperate mode for, well, anything that often times, rational thinking goes out the window - I've been guilty of that, myself, on occasion. I don't know what you want me to 'help' with.. I share what I know when I learn it.. I openly speculate with other people (AND PROCLAIM IT AS OPEN SPECULATION) and I allow myself to be open to all possibilities.. even if I have become jaundiced by the lack of 'real info' when it comes to this clusterfuck of a band that somehow draws us together.. it is what it is.. que sera sera.

This and the previous post are a really complicated and word salady way of dodging what I pointed out and BB is on the right track.

You claimed to have heard other material on the phone in a chat with me and others. You were going to be following up on that and then completely ghosted.

The difference between "seen" and "heard", is just semantic word BS.

So, were you lying then and it was all bullshit (which has been my theory for a while but I could never figure out why bother with that) OR are you lying now?

Either you're lying now or you were lying to me three years ago then.

How is he lying?

That he's seen or heard no evidence of other songs.

Either he's lying now, or he's telling the truth and he lied to me in the past.

I'm sorry, but if you think ANY of the CD tracks we've heard leaks of beforehand or Perhaps or Absurd or Hardskool are different vocal takes, I'm going to suggest you rethink that position.

Now, we do know there are ALTERNATE vocal takes (presumably recorded in the same general timeframe) for at least one song (TIL) and there are some SLIGHT variations on a few CD tracks that might be where alternate vocal take stuff had been inserted but I'm 'sorry' (lol, see what I did there?) - basically all the stuff we've listened to out of GNR in the last 15+ years was recorded closer to 25+ years ago, at least vocally. Obviously, you have stuff like 'Rock The Rock' that serve as an anomaly to this.. but, yeah.. I mean hell, even the original IRS leak played on Trunk's show so long ago was essentially the exact same vocals we got on the album.

I'm not suggesting, btw, that Axl hasn't been in the studio recently and recorded.. for all we know, they've recorded 10+ brand new tracks together - I'm just suggesting WE haven't heard any Rose vocals recorded post, let's say 2002 with the exception of what's on "Angel Down" and of course, the aforementioned 'Rock The Rock'.

We can only go by logic and what evidence we have - and thanks to the locker leaks we do have some decent evidence of vox matches to things we heard 'released' years after they were recorded.. just sayin'

We have heard 05-07 vocals, some of that was on CD. Issue is a lot of that timeframe was recording additional vocal layers to already recorded songs so it's hard to pick out.

I think Shackler was a late recorded one, if those lyrics are inspired by Virginia Tech like Axl claimed they'd have to be.

Axl S is right....they're ALL unreliable narrators of the Chinese Democracy story yet they're all we have to give us the few pieces of the puzzle we do have.

We're never going to know all of it or hear all of it.

One of the reasons I'm content with just getting a couple more songs.

The only reliable narrator has been Axl but he rarely speaks. Even going back to the classic lineups, Slash, Duff, Sorum, Adler and Izzy are high as fucking kites most of the time and don't know what day it is. Slash's biography is littered with contradictions. Duff is at least also reliable post 95.

Axl rarely contradicts himself and is often proved right when discussing what has happened. He's horribly unreliable when discussing what will happen.

On the song titles, at some point after the original batch (98-01 vocals) a lot of them seem meaningless.

Shackles Revenge retained it's original title as a sequel to Buckethead instrumental called Shackler. He then writes and records lyrics for it in 2007 about the Virginia Tech shooting but keeps Bucket's title.

The General is called The General because Brain was eating Chinese food. It is another one that has nothing to do with the lyrics.

#38 Re: Guns N' Roses » Me And My Elvis Instrumental Leak (2019) » 86 weeks ago

It's really hard to know what any of it is. They all speak infrequently, vaguely and often lie/misremember.

For years we were told Fortus wrote a part of Better after he joined in 2002. Then we get a circa 01 demo... and instrumentally it's basically all complete.

It would be curious to hear an earlier version of The General.

Someone posted just Monsters on YT and got a takedown notice from UMG saying their upload contained part of The General, so it is considered one whole song.

Did Soul Monster get mashed up and tacked on? Possibly. But in 08 Axl considered then separate songs in the forum chats, and by 2010 at that Vienna party the recorded clip of The General was the Monsters part, so either they got mashed together between 08-10 or Elvis Presley and the Monster of Soul is a different song.

We then have the MSL CD2 tracklist which includes Monstrosity - is that different or is that one of these songs or part of one of them?

It's all beyond confused and unless Axl decides he wants to chat about it one day we'll probably never know

#39 Re: Guns N' Roses » Me And My Elvis Instrumental Leak (2019) » 86 weeks ago

While I don't think it's as clear cut as the New Song 2/Prostitute debacle, the possibility is there.

It could be always considered part of The General and it's just that, a song with two parts.

It could be Monstrosity.

It could be Soul Monster. It's also possible Monstrosity was another working title for Soul Monster.

We won't know unless someone gets to ask questions, or if the band ever just speaks.

Right now you can pay $100 for five minutes of chatting with Robin Finck. There is one way you might be able to find out.

I'll defend the General a little, it's got a nice gothic Halloweeny type feel to it.  But I have no idea what the hell the lyrics are about.

But Monsters is definitely the more catchy song.

It sounds like it's about begging a father not to abuse you.

Which considering Axl's childhood.... well, these lyrically may be quite personal for him. There was a song from CD rumored to be about child abuse.
