This whole "Rock of Ages" thing is like Glee on steroids...

Axl tweeted a picture of his badly bruised leg. Apparently he had a nasty fall at one of the Moscow gigs the other night. Of all the places to have the next gig. The rest of the band flew to Dublin without him apprently, but he is expected to make the gig. If his leg (or whatever other reason) causes him to be extremely late at this gig, and people start throwing things again and it hits his leg, there could be an all-out riot. I'm actually glad I didn't get tickets for this. I'll happily take Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers next month instead of this fiasco thank you very much.

Best part of the show for me was the "YES! YES! YES!" chants and just how over Daniel Bryan was. Hopefully they do get behind him. It's said that his 18 second title loss was not any form of punishment and that there is no heat on him so there may still be hope.
I haven't bought a wrestling shirt in years but I already want one!

The show started off a disaster. I was genuinely looking forward to this card more than any other Wrestlemania/wrestling event in a long time, then Sheamus pinned Daniel Bryan in 18 seconds. I actually found that so offensive I contemplated turning the whole thing off. We as wrestling fans sit through some stupid shit all year round and it's expected to be worth it for a Wrestlemania but to have a World Heavyweight Championship match end in 18 seconds is just plain insulting and to two of the best WRESTLERS out there today no less. WWE is gonna burn for mistakes like this in the long term when Rock, HBK, HHH and Undertaker all leave WWE programming in the coming weeks.
As for the rest of the card, Jericho/Punk was a good wrestling match but I expected better to be honest. Maybe it's because it followed Taker/HHH that I was so emotionally spent I couldn't get into it.
As for Taker/HHH: Probably one of the best matches ever in terms of emotion, storytelling and raw drama. HBK was fantastic here and young superstars should study this as Michaels displayed how emotions and the art of selling can be so impactful to a match especially a culminating storyline. It was a masterclass, and with the finish with the 3 of them exiting together, it was like the leading actors of a sophisticated stage play taking their final bow. This was worth the £15 alone and reminded me why I continue to watch and made me proud to be a wrestling fan.
As for Rock/Cena, I found it sloppy, and Rock, Cena, AND referee Mike Chiodia visibly communicated way too much it took the special feel away from it. The worst came with a close up shot of the Rock while Cena had him in a bear hug and Rock says pretty loudly "We do a DDT?" It's little errors like this that ruin the 'feel' of a big match. Certainly a match that's being billed as "Once In A Lifetime" should have been layed out in advance, and pretty much move for move. Rock's been out for too long and Cena isn't competent enough to call spots on the fly let alone on the biggest stage of the year.
Just my two cents.

I'm moving to Australia for a year in July, and already have to fork out for Noel Gallagher, The Civil Wars and Tom Petty before I go but I must admit I find this tempting..the opportunity to hear "Estranged" and "Civil War" live..everyone remembers what happened at the last Dublin gig, but the night before in Belfast they were fucking phenomenal.
#37 Re: The Sunset Strip » Rich Robinson (The Black Crowes)-Live In Detroit » 714 weeks ago
Glad to hear you had a great experience Russ! There's not a better feeling when you meet one of your heroes and they're so humble and gracious. I met him in July and he was overwhemingly accommodating for anyone wanting to talk to him, sign autographs or take pictures. Upon first listen his new album sounds incredible aswell. Very Dylan-esque.
Oh Sweet Nuthin' is awesome too. When I saw them, during the jam in the middle they did a short rendition of "Hey Jude" before steering it back to it's epic climax. Awesome!

I was never a big fan of "Oh! Sweet Nuthin" but after hearing it live, I've since changed my mind. Felt the same about "Whoa Mule." I actually shouted to Chris after he walked away from me after the photo was taken to play "Space Captain" which would have been amazing, but obviously he didn't feel like playing it.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I've had several people already ask me who's not familar with the band why I got my photo taken with a homeless person. He seemed to be in great physical shape though. He was dancing around alot, and seemed pretty agile. His vocals were awesome too. Yeah, the guy beside me at the gig said he saw The Brotherhood, and that they were awesome too. I think they do a few Crowes covers from Before The Frost..Until The Freeze too.

Went to both of the London shows. Fucking phenomenal. Met the entire band over the course of the two days. Got autographs from Chris and Rich, and was sitting front row for the second gig when I saw none other than Jimmy Page standing at the side of the stage. He would come on stage with the Crowes to play the old Elmore James number (Shake Your Money Maker) for the encore. I was standing a sheer 10 feet from Jimmy fucking Page. Unbelievable. A moment/experience/night I will never forget for the rest of my life.
A few photos:
Rich is the most nicest, modest, soft spoken guy ever. Even more so than Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge. A real pleasure to meet.
Chris was more in a hurry but was still signed autographs and took some pictures. Came complete with the signature Chris sense of humour. I asked him; "Chris, I came from Ireland, can I get a quick photo?" To which he looked at my shirt and replied "Really? You look like you just came from Liam Gallagher's house!"
