The only positive out of it is that he's holed himself up and released about 120 albums in the past two years.
I have to wonder if he's playing his heart out to work through his loss, or if he's burying himself in his work as a means to avoid dealing with his loss?
Still, it's an amazing contrast to compare the amount of Bucket's solo work to the amount that Axl has released. Axl's got one album out in the last two decades, while Bucket's been averaging an album or two every week.

That's awesome! Worms For The Garden is one of my (many) favorite Buckethead songs, and I used to love the GH & Rock Band games. I'd love to see them put this into the recently announced Rock Band 4 that's coming out next year.
I especially love how the song gets starting at around 3:30 into it. I could see if someone thought they were good at Rock Band starting the song thinking "Oh, that's not too bad" and then it just shifts into another 15 minutes of insane shredding.

Here's another one from March 1, 2001 about the Rock In Rio performance.

As I mentioned in the other thread, as a Rolling Stone subscriber, they give you access to the complete digital archive of every issue. Obviously, there have been a lot of historic GNR interviews and articles over the years, so I'm planning on posting some of them here. First off, here's the May 11, 200 "Axl Rose - The Lost Years" article, which as I re-read it I've realized is the source for a lot of things that we've learned about Axl in his post-Illusion days.

Cool. Transcribed the relevant bits.
"Rumors usually come from some form of truth," says Guns N' Roses rhythm guitarist Gilby Clarke. "Yeah, Gn'R could end any minute. There is a lot of tension, and we've been having a lot of problems lately. Everybody has a different vision of where to go from here. It's not just Axl and Slash, I don't know when our new album's gonna happen or who is still gonna be in the band."
..."If I sat around and waited for the next Gn'R album, which could be in five months or five years, I'd lose it," Clarke says. "My own record restores my sanity."
...Currently, much of the turbulence surrounding Guns N' Roses has been stirred by Rose's pending court case. Rose has been accused by his former wife, Erin Everly, of physical and mental abuse. "I hardly ever see Axl now," Clarke says cautiously. "He's got all that stuff on his mind and needs to be alone. Right now, it's causing the band a lot of problems. It's just something we don't talk about. But for me, I just keep going. Whatever happens from now is just the icing."
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Ok, was it in this one?
Here's the article from that issue. I probably have that that one boxed up in my attic somewhere, but one nice feature of having a Rolling Stone subscription is that they give you online access to their full digital archive.

Axl's probably waiting until they can publicly announce his replacement before they confirm his departure. So probably nothing will happen until the next tour or festival appearance.
What do you bet that Buckethead's phone has been ringing off the hook?

Two weeks before the tour, Merck and Axl step in, saying, 'Hold your horses! Here's our next Buckethead!'
Honestly, nobody else plays like Bucket, so the best thing to do would be just to cut their losses instead of hiring another fretboard shredder. Guns got along just fine before with two guitarists, so they should just let DJ and Fortus come up with their variations on the solos, and not replace Ron.

Led Zeppelin! The Smiths! The Jam! They should all reform! Why? So a load of middle-aged people can stand in the O2 and go, 'They're not as good as they used to be.' It'd be the same with Oasis."
At least he's being honest about it!

I just saw that Ron's got a new band with Scott Weiland and they have an album coming out this spring. That sounds like the final nail in the coffin to his tenure in GNR.
