Maybe those words hit home with Axl.  He's always seemed to care a lot about Izzy's opinion.

#32 Re: Guns N' Roses » The Pretty Reckless (Taylor Momsen) will open for Guns N' Roses » 711 weeks ago

The Runaways comparison popped into my head right away, and I'm going to have to stick with it. Obviously, you're exaggerating to make a point, but "ran through a Disney/Hannah Montana blender and then bored into a sippy cup" is pretty far off the mark. I don't know a lot about Hannah Montana, but I doubt that there were a lot of episodes where she flashed her underage tape-covered tits or crawled around a recreation of the Last Supper 3/4 naked. I made a point of saying a *modern* Runaways vibe, because if we're being honest, these things almost make the original Runaways schtick sound tame.

You're objecting more to the idea of her sounding like the Runaways though, and I can't disagree with that point. The Pretty Reckless definitely have a more modern rock/Hole-inspired sound, and (although I've always been more of a Breeders fan) I don't have a problem with that. It's poppy choruses over loud rock guitars. That describes about 90% of the bands that I listen to. If this band's not your thing (or even mine?), that's fine. But let's not act like it's "Skater Boi". Heh.

Haha. That's quite a fantasy..

I don't really get into all the "America's Got Talent"/"American Idol"/"Dancing With the Stars" talk on the Stern Show, but if Howard was to actually become a judge on one of those shows, I'd have to watch, for sure.

The last Rosie interview was pretty good. I was surprised how open she was about certain subjects.

Don't quote me on this. But I think I could see myself getting into this band. Taylor's got that modern Runaways vibe. That's way more interesting than some of the other openers. I actually like the way that they're doing the opening acts on this tour though. Each band for a few dates has a certain appeal over one or two bands for an entire tour. It's a good way to discover new things.

I couldn't be more excited for the Indianapolis show next month. It's going to be my first GNR concert ever. And, even though I'm a much bigger fan of Duff, Bach, and Buckcherry, I'm actually looking forward to seeing Black Label Society open. I put together a playlist on my MP3 player a few days ago, and their music's been growing on me. In fact, if they play "Overlord", there's a good chance that I might lose my shit.

If there's ever some kind of music-related GNR reunion, I'll be completely shocked. It just doesn't seem to be in the cards, and for whatever reason, I'm one of those rare fans that are fine with that. With that said, I'd love to see the originals make peace. And, if it could happen before the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, even better. It'd be really good to see them together accepting an honor for something that they all helped create.

While the Metal Show interview wasn't a great one, I definitely thought that it was a fun one. It was good to see Axl taking part in something like that after all these years. As much as certain parts annoyed some of the diehards, I'm sure it more than made up for it by repairing his image with some of the casuals. As everyone's already said, Axl came across pretty likable. So you've got to think about the big picture.

I'll stick with...

"Axl...

I'm from Seymour, Indiana, and, the first time that I heard you make the Auschwitz reference, I knew exactly where you were coming from. I have to say though, either this place is getting a little better over time or I'm just getting better at over-looking it in my old age (25). Do you ever come back to visit or do you feel like it's basically not worth the hassle?

Anyway, thanks for the music. "Better" and "Prostitute" are amazing."

good luck on that.

Well, it certaintly won't be hard.

The Tokyo performance is not very good.

Exactly. It'd be pretty easy to outdo those DVDs.  I actually like the performance, but the band's been better. Not to mention the fact that the label didn't bother adding any special features when they transferred the videos to DVD. Imagine a 2006/2007 show with behind the scenes documentaries, interviews with the band, a music video for the first single, and whatever else. There's a lot of untapped potential there.

From what I know, he either took part in the writing or had a big influence on There Was a Time as well and that song is pretty different from Silkworms and If The World.

I remember reading a small interview with him from France in 2006 where he mentioned that among other things.

I was mainly being a smartass. I think "If the World" and "Silkworms" sound completely different. I didn't realize Pittman played such a big part in creating "There Was a Time", but that song also sounds different from the other two. He's obviously a pretty versatile guy.
