if the "'99" leaks were any indication, the product was about a 1/4 of the quality of what we ended up with .... IMO anyway
as for cochise....well we know how much i Love Chris Cornhole
I disagreeeeee. I love the siren on IRS. Remember, that was all TAPED leaks, so, mastered and mixed I bet Sean's version would have been great.
Whatever it sounded like before Bucket left I'm sure was also great.
I mean I like what we got, but it did miss the energy of actualy having people in a room all together and build from whatever's going on currently.
That was a costly rejection, indeed.
I always thought CD would have a good place in college radio, but by 2008, that just wasn't the case - not with these kinds of songs at this moment in time / not without promotion to get people excited about it (video on Youtube, talk show, blog, anything...).

Here's some of the 100 reasons:
Had Axl done a talk show / SNL, it would have said "we're done with it, it's out there, here's a song, hope you enjoy it, give us a chance."
I'm surprised Axl has never done SNL. He said he liked the process of filming/making movies, and he has a great sense of humor. It would be a good fit and I think it could be fun, even though fame isn't a felt need of us, I think he'd actually enjoy it. If this seems wierd, just listen to Eddie Trunk show.
SNL is magical. It somehow made Alec Baldwin a celebrity again.
#423 Re: Guns N' Roses » How far for GNR? » 823 weeks ago
Here's the thing...
In 2002 I was a freshman in college. When the 2002 tour hit, I should have made the trip to Chicago for that show. (I was at the U of I in Urbana-Champaign). I figured they'd come around again soon enough - maybe even play at Assembly Hall. I was wrong.
So when 2006 happened I made damn sure I went. I never knew if I'd be able to see Axl again. I may have had to wait till 11 to see them go on, and i may have had to wait till 3 AM before I left the parking lot, and I may have only gotten back to my house in Urbana at 7, only to have an all day work meeting at 9 AM, but I made sure I was there because it was worth it.
I wouldn't fly to Japan (I couldn't afford it, even if Elvis was doing a duet on Soul Monster). But I'm willing to pay the going rate of concerts and travel a few hours in my state. That's in the realm of sanity and my economic reality.
If you can't afford it, you can't afford it. If you don't want to "see the same show", then ... post on Internet forums, or whatever. I haven't gone to many concerts, so if a band I actually like is playing, I'm going to make that choice. Many of you like MANY bands, many of them who are actually doing gigs, andf that's great, but Axl is a special thing for me and many others. I'm not going to miss out because of the stupid setlist, or some "principle" of the matter, or because I feel like I should get a LIVE rockshow for less than the price of an evening at the movies.
So don't say stupid things like "only if it was 25 dollars", because you can't even go to a movie and get popcorn for that. You can't even buy a concert DVD for that. Just don't be ridiculous. The price I paid in 2006 was reasonable. The distance I drove is what I'd expect living in Central IL. If the tickets were 200 dollars, then I think I'd have to pass or try and wait until they cut prices - that's another story, I couldn't afford 200 easily. But the shows were NOT that expensive, at least not in my market.
So please quit the "I wouldn't go unless Axl served me pizza and wrote an apology note to Slash on stage, and then had a 2-for-1 ticket deal, and was entered to win a Nintendo Wii with the purchase of the ticket" crap. Go, or don't go, just don't be HIGH when posturing.
I have many friends in LA. If they played a show there, and I could get tickets, I would make a 2-for-1 trip out of it. So I guess that's as far as I'd go.

Someone should reply to Del James -
"GNR fans really don't appreciate it when someone we don't care about hits them up to go to a non-GNR book signing by spamming it on a GNR web portal. No class."

I think you confused DJ with DJ Ashbabalahanahz, when I think the OP meant DJ as in Del James, as someone asked Del James a question and then posted the answer on MyGNR (I think it was HBKHBK or something).

I think that it's absolutely fantastic.
I think because, like James said, the tour basically ended soon after, it sort of taints it. Instead of being a release and a mini tell-all, it just looks like a guy loosing his shitz0r on stage and imploding. Not a triumph, just sort of scary.
Funny, though. I wonder if he listened/s to Richard Pryor routines.

Hey everyone,
I'm just stepping out on a limb, here, sort of.
YEARS ago some search results sent me to a short story on a website that was basically about a man running into Axl Rose at a bar. It was years removed from Axl's fame (this was before 2001), and the narrator couldn't quite remember who he was.
All of 'Axl' 's dialouge was taken from GNR songs. It was only until after Axl had left that the narrator put the pieces together.
Sort of cheesy/cliche, but damn, do I wanna read it again.
I can't find ANYTHING. It may have dissapeared from the Internet (it was on a 'blog' sort of site, of sorts, before there was 'blogger'. so it seemed to be static pages that could easily be lost.
But maybe one of you had seen this too, had saved it, WROTE it, or knows where to find it today.
---curious....

Wonder if we'll see the .mogg of this too
Hope so.
Supposedly, after Nine (9/9/09), those that have cracked the latest security will come out. They've been waiting on The Beatles release, apparently. We can hope that conventional wisdom/hope is true.
I think the PSP release uses lower quality MOGG files (the PS2 uses 22k sampling instead of 44k, for example).

No.
Maybe they're running out of names for Rockband editions?

Favorite cuts on the album - Scraped and Prostitute!
Those are the ones, almost a year later, that still hold up very strong for me.
Scraped has a great melody in my opinion, very aggressive, and a very POSITIVE messege overall. One of the few songs on the record you could imagine late-30's Axl running around on stage with. Axl's vocals sound fresh and crisp. They sound current and they bring out some of the energy and pathos of the UYI vocal efforts.
Prostitute has those great piano parts, the great introduction and outro, and also has the best "arena-rock 70's ballad" sound on the record. It's also a song where Axl's vocals seem fresh. The song has multiple parts / changes, and it really doesn't drag on - it keeps changing things up as it takes you on this argument/thesis of whatever the song's messege is. When Axl hits the high notes it's very, very spooky ('pain') and that's AWESOME. It's almost as if something religious is happening.
(They're also among those I heard the least over the last... 8 years? 9 years?)
