also, one thing which kept on throwing me off in the book was the way he'd do "time"....as in, time references, so one just wouldn't know whether he was talking in a chronological order, or if he was just skipping through experiences....for example....
he talks about them doing the Its so Easy video after he talked about the Jungle vid, and Sweet Child...which confused me bigtime....i was under the impression that ISE was the first one of the whole lot...
so, nto sure whether that was just a narrative which i just didn't get, or he simply is under the impression that ISE was a later video single off Appetite...
little errors like that are all over the book...

he'd get sued by anyone and everyone, and gnr would tour the world ten times over just to pay for the court case....he may even be forced to let the album out, for some additional income....so i'd feel great, because then they might just consider SA as a worthy destination for a gig....

here are some reasons as to why you should read this book:
1. its slash. meaning that its the only personal account of the whole gnr saga we have published. that alone should make you buy it.
2. you know enough about gnr by now to be able to easily sift through crap, and decide for yourself what's what, so you won't be influenced negatively by it. incidents like the rocket queen one mentioned above are easy to spot.
3. it does provide some good insight into times of gnr we had very little info on, such as izzy's departure, del james' history, that period when he was experimenting with paul huge, dave navarro and zakk wylde. there isn't too much info on that out there, so it was another perspective on that.
4. if you're a VR fan, it explains neatly the factors which lead to their formation, singers they went through, and how they eventually settled on Scott.
if those aren't enough, then you should read it because its a published piece on our favorite band. Same reason you should read Mick Wall's book, and Marc Canter's book and all those others out there.
90% of them are absolute crap and inaccurate, and hardly objective, and each and every one will tell you a different version of the same story, but you are educated enough to make up your own mind as to what is right and what isn't.
but they will have some little bits of info you didn't know anything about, and that makes them worth a read.
Anyway, back on topic, one thing which i didn't know much about, and was mentioned in the book, was how much of a cunt Matt Sorum really is. I assumed with all his dumbass comments recently about STP and earlier about Axl were just recent developments, but apparently during the UYI tour (which was when he was still a new member of the band)....he chased after Axl when he walked offstage and started shouting at him to get back and not to be an asshole.
i would have fired his ass right there and then.
If Izzy and Slash and Duff chose not to deal with Axl, who the fuck is this new guy, thinking he can talk that way to a man who pays his salary.....twat.
Also, the whole Steven Adler fiasco seemed hypocritical to me in Slash's book. They chose to get rid of him whilst hiding in the background shooting up shit in their veins, and basically letting this guy take the hit for a collective addiction.
Also, the way Slash spoke about Doug Goldstein was interesting to me as well, basically calling him a two faced slime ass leech, and saying that he didn't like him much overall, but yet never complained about him.
and there are lots more little tidbits, i'll get to them eventually.
#434 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » The Izzy Interview from 2001 » 930 weeks ago
reading this again, and then reading the reasons why Izzy left chapter in Slash's book, i still can't believe the amount of disrespect these guys have shown to him....unbelievable.
Out of all of them, Izzy was the only one who got out on time, but the way he was treated was very uncool.

Axl definitely cashed in from these guys on time.
Both Geffen and Sanctuary.
Can you imagine Interscope giving anyone 13 mil these days to write an album?
Or Sanctuary paying big bucks for royalty and publishing rights?
seems absurd, doesn't it?
its almost like he either knew where everything was going, or he was just very lucky.
i'll go for the latter.

my vote also goes to the record company.
#437 Re: Guns N' Roses » Dizzy's new myspaces » 930 weeks ago
i fucking hate MySpace, why can't these guys just do simple, basic websites instead.
Everything on mySpace looks like shit, its hard to read, loads badly on different browsers, and is a general pain in the ass....
#438 Re: The Garden » jarmos myspace page » 930 weeks ago
if it wasn't for mygnr and htgth, there would be no board like this.....mygnr is far too childish, htgth is far too dictatorial, and this is the perfect middle. Well moderated, democratic, and fair. The way it should be.
If all boards were the same, it would be so boring. We need them both to be like they are, otherwise we'd post even less on these boards than we do already.
i like jarmo and his thing, the site is cool, a few things on there annoy me at times, in particular i don't like how they choose which updates to post, and which ones not to post....that's the only thing i find unfair of the whole lot...as a fan, i would like to make the decision by myself if i like/believe a certain piece of news is legit, and don't want to be censored.
at the same time, loads of people on there need to be censored, so one can't argue that point too much either.
i like the errors in slash's book thread, but what he should have done is made the same thread for errors in other books which were published about gnr, if his whole objective was to "correctly inform" and fix errors with that type of a topic.
his blatant despise for anything Slash/VR related is also understandable, just not my thing.
#439 Re: Management » Taking the site forward.... » 930 weeks ago
i would like to have that whole "Brainstorm" section, like we used to have, where only members of over 50 posts have access to....sometimes there are topics you don't really feel like sharing with those who only register for gossip....
#440 Re: Management » Ok, I'm a little confused guys... » 930 weeks ago
is that what that whole Email was about?
I never got it....
