#441 Re: Guns N' Roses » GN'R to tour Australia and New Zealand November 2021 » 236 weeks ago

It would take just a four-song EP (in whatever ratio of original songs to covers) to make GNR tremendously exciting again. As for the nostalgia tour that never ends ... Yes, they are making plenty of people happy, and earning a ton of money, so I cannot fault them. But it does nothing to suggest this band has an artistic future.

The Village sessions with their many soundbytes and ambient experiments cast this one that surfaced around 2006 in a whole new light ...

Guns N’ Roses targets Trump with new shirt: ‘Live N’ Let Die with COVID 45’
BY MIKE STUNSON
MAY 14, 2020 08:54 AM ,  UPDATED 9 HOURS 56 MINUTES AGO

A new shirt being sold by rock band Guns N’ Roses appears to take aim at President Donald Trump and his coronavirus response.

The band’s new shirt reads “Live N’ Let Die With COVID 45,” appearing to mock the president’s trip to an Arizona factory producing N95 masks earlier this month. While Trump toured the facility, he was shown not wearing a mask while “Live and Let Die” blared over the building’s speakers, McClatchy News reported.

The audio of the hit song drowned out Trump speaking to workers at the factory, video shows. Many people criticized Trump for not wearing a mask

Fernando was also recently chatting on discord for around 2 hours with fans, and seems genuinely interested in improving band/fan relations. He was absolutely grilled by some fans, but he took it all on the chin, and showed a fair bit of humility through it all.

Honest question: How do we know it was really him? Did anyone see him on video? Hate to be a skeptic, but there are so many rumors and outright falsehoods flying around with his band, it's hard to know what to believe.

Moving forward, he truly believes that we would have new GN’R music by now if it wasn’t for this pandemic.

I'm calling B.S. They've had 12 years since the release of ChiDem to release any new studio recordings. Even a single song. Blaming this virus is a dodge.

between this, no album & a children's book... no reason to continue supporting these clowns.

"just shut up & sing..."

That made me laugh really hard. Thanks, I needed that.

Well, at least we now have a t-shirt to commemorate the event.

'Live and Let Die' blares as Trump tours mask factory, without mask

By Victor Morton - The Washington Times - Tuesday, May 5, 2020

President Trump visited Honeywell’s mask-making factory Tuesday, but the choice of music raised some eyebrows.

A clip posted to YouTube by the PBS NewsHour shows Mr. Trump walking through the Arizona facility without a mask to the song “Live and Let Die.”

The song was initially a hit for Wings as the theme to the eponymous James Bond movie and was remade by Guns N Roses in 1991. It was the latter version that echoed through the factory as Mr. Trump talked to Honeywell executives and workers.

Liberal commentators called the music choice — the song was once banned by Clear Channel in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks — bizarre and insensitive, given the magnitude of the coronavirus crisis, which has killed more than to 70,000 Americans.

So hard to know what to think right now. On one hand, there are talks of opening up the economy. On the other, there are reports that this thing could come back again in the late summer or fall. Will there be widespread immunity by then?

Such a strange time.
