We found out recently that the title of the second album was originally going to be P.R.L., a fact mentioned but buried in a mistranslation of a 2001-02 article.
Wow, I had not realized that, James. What article was it? Is there a scan someplace? Really interesting discovery.

Can't recall. But it's been so quiet on the GNR front in terms of new music that, having remembered I had it, thought it might be worth sharing.

Regrettably, this is about the NFL booking a "heritage" act.
I don't think we're in for a new song. They tried that at the VMAs and we know how that went down.
"Jungle," "Paradise," "Sweet Child," and maybe a wildcard like "You Could Be Mine" if we're lucky. The set will be limited due to the format of the game and the value of commercial airtime.
But the GNR webstore will probably have a whole new line of Super Bowl laundry bags for us to choose from, so there's that to look forward to.

It's gotten to the point where I have no expectations of new music from these guys. Coming off of one of the most profitable tours of the past decade, they have no financial incentive to knock themselves out in the studio.
And I think we now understand why Slash got a divorce when he did.
If they do release another record, or even a song, it'll be a happy day for all of us. But at this point, I'm only hoping for additional ChiDem outtakes.

huntermc, I came to the same conclusion about the Betamax: This is a copy of the album, just on an unusual format.
It is a bit suspicious that both sellers are claiming that the material comes from Zutaut ...

I agree with everything everyone has said.
These are brilliant songs.
Nobody but us actually cares, including (by all appearances) the band.
A decade or more into the future, by which point Axl will likely retire, a new generation not even born at the time ChiDem was released may discover these tracks and acknowledge their merit on their own terms but otherwise, the demos are a dead issue.
So if any hoarders are listening, please, by all means, share what you've got. Time is running out. For all of us.

My own Rough Mixes playlists:
Disc 1: (LP side 1) Chinese/Atlas/TWAT/Silkworms/Perhaps (LP side 2): Rhiad/Blues/Catcher/Madagascar/Prostitute (Putting Rhiad at the start of the second half jolts more energy into the pace)
Disc 2: PRL/Quicksong/Mustache/Zodiac/If the World/Tonto/Real Doll/Eye on You/Shankler's/I'm Sorry
Disc 3: Billionaire/Hardschool/Suplex/State of Grace/Oklahoma/IRS/Dummy/Devious (This sequences some kind of vocal - either sung or from a soundbite - pretty much every other song
Disc 4: Thyme/Circus/Nothing/D Tune/Curly/Elvis/As It Began
