What's the problem with that. No different than quoting random posters from other Gn'R sites. No different than quoting a radnom friend of mine in real life. Oh do tell Killingvector what is an acceptable quote in your hollier than thou opinion? Piss off loser.  It was in relation to DTJ mentioning Prostitute as a single. I saw the post on youtube and thought it was kinda funny and relevant. But I get how you'd rather find something, anything about my post to bitch about rather than discuss the actuall topic and relevance of it.

Because youtube posters are arbitrary. There are haters on every board. For example, one velvet rope poster felt that Axl should have included more flushing sounds on Chinese Democracy... What's the point of propagandizing a point of view which is indefensible by virtue of the person's absence in defending it?

The Best Buy exclusive wasn't a good deal in the amount of records sold, that I think can certainly be argued.  But it was a GREAT deal for the bands management.  They got a shitload of money upfront, regardless of sales.  Not sure if Axl was on board for the whole ride.  When was the last time we heard from him anyway?  He hasn't been heard in since the release date was announced right?

Apparently, UMG received $14 million for 1.4 million unreturnables. They will make a lot in international sales, skimp on promotion, and replenish their bottom line. Their stake in US success is almost nonexistent.

Oh I agree. We have to see if Better gets off the launch pad before funeral arrangements are made for the album.

However, its not looking good and there's really no way to sugarcoat these sales numbers. It has been rejected by the masses, but that doesn't mean it cant catch on soon.

Next week's sales numbers are going to be a big deciding factor because all the hardcore fans buying multiple copies will not be a factor in sales.

I don't think it was a rejection, but rather a shrug. No one has been motivated to buy the record. There is some stuff to hear, but if the average listener didn't go to myspace, where would they hear it?

Better is a start, as I have said. Let's see if there is any effect.

Axl deserves a lot of blame for the lackluster sales thus far.

He needs to be out there, a RS interview, a sit down.....something. Even an acoustic performance of Sailing would be awesome.

Silence apparently isn't golden, or even platinum.

It's a start. Fire up This I Love and Scraped next.

If this album is going to tank, let's do it with our best face on.

I am appalled that Axl has not promoted this thing. UMG apparently has no motivation to sink a single dime into this album considering they are getting a bundle of cash frontloaded.

I like CD MUCH better than Contraband and we are all jumping to conclusions WAY too fast.  Best Buy exclusitivity was NOT something Contraband had to go through.  I DO NOT believe it benefited the band NOR sales.  Have patience, my bet is the album will do better than most do in the next few weeks.  Simply meaning that it may drop some but will gain momentum instead of just "falling off the face of the earth".   The album will sale 3 to 3.5 million copies by the end of next year.   I'll eat my words if I'm wrong but you naysayers do the same if I'm not...fair enough??

It probably isn't a viable comparison, but news reports have already begun mentioning the first week sales of CD vs. VR.

Perception is reality. If people believe this thing has bombed, it will bomb. Unless there is more of push to market this thing. An aggressive push at that.

I totally agree with you.  Which is why I think CIR or Prostitute would be more radio friendly.

here's a quote form some person commenting on Prostitute on youtube.

"Take the vocal track away and you have background music for a car commercial. That's a very tight and commercially viable sound. Excellent new corporate rock album. I can't wait to see what lousy commercials this album ends up in. Dig that party beat."

16 Not sure if thats' good or bad. I  personally like Prostitute by the way. Top 3 on the album.

Why is it inevitable someone invokes Slash and how this record would have done better with him on it? If Slash were in this band, this record would be something completely different; he wasn't interested in Axl's choices. It is reasonable to believe a compromise would have produced a completely different product and no one knows how that would have sounded. Could have been out of date crap....

As for the 'Axl mix', I just don't think it makes a difference. How much better could it have been save for the few production errors we heard in the recording? Maybe close-repeat listeners can pick it up, but these errors hardly compromise the overall melody and texture of the song.

I call BS on any report that Axl is boycotting b/c of mix issues.

I still insist Scraped will do very well as a single. Catcher is a great song but I'm not sure it can be a successful single. The Yesterdays comparison is pretty accurate from my point of view ( and I adore Yesterdays).

There should be a ballad next, I suspect The Blues or This I Love. At this point, I would go for the later but I expect they will choose the Blues.

CD has charted 4th in the US, behind Sasha Fierce, Taylor Swift, and Kanye.

254k which is lower than Contraband if I am not mistaken.
