So, basically you just want the right to stick it back in other fan's faces? Niiiicce.
Plus you are basing your conclusion on 7 days of sale. Give the album time. If it is indeed a flop, then you will still have a window to gloat after a month or two, but you are seriously jumping the fucking gun here.

Gould/Azoff are lawyers with the savy of prodigious businessmen. I trust there is a plan here and it has yet to reveal itself.
That said, if this is truly it, then this entire release was handled with an unacceptable level of arrogance. As has been proven throughout time, arrogance's only reward is futility.

I am negative only because no record does better than its first week sales. Take a look at the charts. Most albums decline anywhere from 50 to 60 percent 2nd week. So 50 percent of 300k is 150k for CD and then it usually goes down from there
what people don't understand about radio, this day and age especially where more are tuning to satellite radio, radio stations have limited number of spots. They are going to play the most popular stuff to get the most listeners.
if GNR lay an egg with their first 2 singles, radio will not even waste their time with a third single. Thats just the way it went.
look at libertad for example. She Builds Quick Machines bombed then The Last Fight didn't do anything, so guess what? NOBODY played Get out The Door.
same with CD. Everything is riding on Better. If it sucks and no one likes it, fewer stations are gonna give any other New Gnr Songs airplay thus killing the record.
Axl has to do interviews to get radio stations to play it. Its a give and take business. U give them something, they give u something. Radio aren't gonna keep being ignored and then play the shit out of CD songs.
No one is asking week 2 sales to be higher than week 1. But if the record can hold on and keep selling well for a longer period of time, then it would render the week 1 sales irrelevant.
I actually believe this can happen if the GnR promotion machine gets moving.

it just doesn't look like it's going to happen.
Given a lackluster promotional campaign thus far, do you think the album could generate strong second, third, fourth week. . . sales if a strong single is released, a video, an Axl interview, appearances, and eventually a tour?

This album has to sell extremely well to be considerd a success
I agree which is why I plan to wait at least a month before I claim success or failure.
Oh and by the way did you buy or eat that real apple? You did? Why's that? Because you wanted it? I see.
I bought the apple but I plan to go back tomorrow and get the Apple Jacks because they are so darn delicious.

People just rejected it(so far)
Reject means what now? Not purchased?
I rejected a box of Apple Jacks today because I wanted a real apple.

Wow, I am a liar too, then? Great. Real nice talking with ya.
For fuck sakes. Of course it's speculation. How fucking dumb are we here? Do I have to add a disclaimer every time I post saying "I'm only speculating but...." Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows I'm speculating. Figure it out!. And I'm not callin you a lier but likley an exagerator. No album has 100% approval rating. I've never heard an album in my life that everyone agrees on. I started a thread where we post the reviews of people we come across and I've posted bad and good and have always posted the bad and nbegative reactions I see. Saying nice round numbers like 75 and that to a man they all loved it does reak of an exageration.
LOL. I guess I need to help you out a bit.
I clearly said even though 75 cops at MPD admitted loving it, I wasn't comfortable proclaiming it to be the new Thriller. Just as those 2 girls who came up to you in the DJ booth are not proof that the average joe/jane aren't digging it. In statistics, it is called sample size. Polls live and die based on it.
your post is rife with baseless speculation. It's ok to discuss but forgive me if I see no foundation.
And no, I was not exaggerating. If it was 74 or 73 or 76, who the fuck knows exactly how many were on duty that night, but the average on any given weekend/holiday evening is 75.

All I can say is wow! Gimme a fucking break. My polling data? Stay in denial you'll be happier there. This is what I mean. Everything that doesn't shine a bright light on CD needs actual data to back it up. Where as anything that does glorify the album is proof that it's just marketed poorly.
o.k. than.
No less than 75? To a man they love it? sounds real legit. 100% approval rating. Sure
Admit then, you are simply speculating about (and perhaps hoping for) failure.
My mind is open and I am willing to accept failure for multiple reasons, but just not based on 7 days of data.

killingvector wrote:I agree Neemo. Honestly, I can't believe how so many are cutting this thing loose after 7 days.
I was gonna mention something, but it's no use. Clearly, any positive remarks are gonna be shot down all over this forum. That's how it is. That's why I'm picking and choosing what threads to participate in, but it's pretty beleaguering when every thread turns into the same ol BS.
I am bleeding with ya.

The people who listen to radio. The people who go bonkers when Jungle coms on in a bar or at a sporting event. The people who request songs at Christmas parties or in the bar. The people who buy the majoirty of the albums and make up the majority of concert goers. The average Joe. Those people.
I'd like to see your polling data on this issue then. I suspect you are just guessing.
Sadly from my experience it's not just the reaction of 2 random people. I'm hearing it more and more everyday. If it were the other wya aroudn the sales would be better. Promo or no promo. This album will suffer via word of mouth more so than the other way around.
And I've heard no less than 75 testimonials from the Manchester Police Department, almost to a man who loved the record. Average janes and joes. But I am not willing to extrapolate a small sampling size data pool and project that the record is better than Thriller.
