#41 Re: Guns N' Roses » How big of a deal was Steven being fired when it happened? » 145 weeks ago

It should have been a bigger deal since the band have never sounded the same since.

But so much was going, with the world jonesing for new GNR music and the circus that sourounded the UYI release.
It kinda get swept under the rug real quick.

But then when Izzy left I knew it was over.
That's almost half the band,
and GNR was a rare band where all 5 of them had significant input to the sound of the music.

I wish they could have held it together for one more album, I would have preferred a follow-up to AFD that had all the same guys.

They already did some NFL promotion with Hard Skool.

They had a premiere for the Lyric Video on the NFL Morning Show on NFL Network.

They spent almost as much time hyping the song as the 30 second clip that ended up on the air.

It was kinda disappointing that they didn't even play the whole song.

GnR /TB plan of Action!
--------------------------------------------

Nothingness and silence , then tour.
Followed by nothingness and silence, then tour.

No UYI Box til Locked N Loaded boxes sell out

No "New" Single til Hard Skool Singles sell out

I think the bigger question is ....

"Will we ever hear the new single"

Slash claimed it would get released in June.
June came and went without a peep from the band, or any evidence that pointed to the band working on new music.

This type of situation has happened dozens of times with GNR.
And if the past is any indicator
.... It does not lead to new music.
Only silence,
and the following year the cycle repeats.

After release dates pass , things don't get delayed.
They get cancelled.

Shadow of Your Love was also a B-Side of the bands very first single for Its So Easy/ Mr Brownstone in 1987.

Might be a clue that this band is going nowhere.

It's all retreads from here on out.

Chinese Democracy II featuring Slash is the goal,
If we ever get there with this one song at a time bullshit is the question.

Serious question: If the band does in fact release more previously unissued ChiDem-era tracks, we can assume at this point that the vocals are not new, just recycled. Think 'The General" with Duff and Slash.

Does that increase, decrease, or have no bearing on whether or not we might get leaks of the original recordings with Bucket and company?

Yes,
I doubt we ever get any new vocal tracks out of old Axl.

Have you heard his voice the last couple years.

He can't even sing Hard Skool live, it sounds like trash.
And I think one the main reasons they picked Absurd as the B side, and that the song debuted live was because it was easy for Axl to sing.

The day Hard Skool came GnR ignored it in their Live Set , and didn't even mention it.

It's pre-recorded Chin Dem demos til the end.

Wherever Axl goes music doesn't get released.

Slash n Duff always had New albums to tour behind whether it was Snakepit, Neurotic Outsiders, Loaded, SMKC,  Solo Albums, etc.
Until they rejoined GnR and Axl and his new music graveyard.

AC/DC is another band that always has a New Album to tour behind,  in fact Axl is the only singer to ever be in AC/DC that never recorded a AC/DC album.

Wherever Axl goes nothingness follows

Axl = death of New music
