I do like the remix that imsorry did that added the chorus from RIR3 and HOB into the song to make it complete. But the video audio verse of Silkworms is amazing
I am with you on this, I love monsters, I think its the best of the CD era left over stuff so far.
Monsters is quickly rising to the top of the CD2 list for me. Maybe the newness is factoring in a bit, but I think it has staying power. I didn’t initially like The General that much, but it has definitely grown on me. Definitely surpassed Absurd at this point.
That’s a loooow bar, man
It is. I may put The General at #3 now ahead of Absurd & Hard Skool, but behind Monsters & Perhaps. But Absurd is probably the only one I wouldn’t randomly play on a whim. I genuinely enjoy the other 4 at any given moment.

Sigh. Another guy from my childhood falls by the wayside.
For the NBA question; it’s totally different than college. There is a shit ton more travel and you are dealing with pros as opposed to teaching kids fresh out of HS.
Knight was way too divisive after he allegedly choked the kid or whatever he did to get from Indiana. No one was touching him for a while. He was sort of radioactive
Yeah, no way millionaire NBA players with huge egos were going to put up with Knight’s coaching style. Coaches like him are (pardon the pun) a dying breed. Most players today need to be coddled and it starts from a young age. The everybody gets a trophy era. That’s why young coaches are so successful these day. Someone the players can closely relate to.

Regardless, good sign playing it live. And it did sound pretty close to what we’ve heard. Will “Monsters” be next? Maybe save Atlas, etc. for the next round of dates?
It sounds like Slash is playing a Finck riff and a Buckethead solo. That's why it's confusing I think. Slash usually doesn't play like this to my ears. The sound is there, but not the style. Hard Skool and Absurd are a lot more Slash than this.
Yep, that’s exactly the way I heard it blasting in my car. Not vintage Slash style by any means but his tone was more noticeable.

The way he sounded on The General, tonight would’ve been a good night to try Monsters. Seems like he had it in him.

monsters, on the other hand, is pretty fuckin' awesome. easily my favorite of the "new" songs we've heard since slash and duff came back. it's catchy as hell, has great guitars, and some of axl's best vocals since the 90s. "soul monster" is a way cooler name than just "monsters", but whatever. kick ass song to have right before halloween. i'm throwing a party tonight and monsters will definitely get played on my system - maybe even a few times depending on much bourbon gets consumed. this one gets a strong 8/10 for me.
I was thinking about the tie in with Halloween too. Figure the 10/27 release date would’ve been on purpose to try and capitalize on extra sales. Not that it would’ve made a huge difference but you might have had some random people purchase a song with Monsters in the title just before Halloween. Chances are less likely on 12/8.

they’re discussing these leaks on HTGTH. I thought in the past any discussion about leaks was forbidden. I could be wrong though.
If he stopped discussion on this set of leaks right now it would probably kill what is left of his forum.
They're probably coming out soon anyways...so why not let them discuss it?
Most likely this. The board is active for once, so might as well let it ride.

faldor wrote:It certainly sounds like Slash on “Monsters”. Assuming Slash and Duff put their own finishing touches on them like they did with the other releases. Also guessing we got these leaks yesterday because they were supposed to be released before the delay, so somebody decided they’d share what they had. So this is what we’ll get on 12/8, albeit touched up more to their liking. But I wouldn’t expect much more than that.
We aren't getting these. The General and Monsters is registered as 1 song on SESAC. So that sounds like a completely reworked and combined version. I don't see how hoarders would have access to Slash versions of songs that only exist in Axls home studio.
I guess that’s possible. But if that’s the case, maybe someone close to the band is behind this? It just seems coincidental that the song(s) that were supposed to ship yesterday got leaked after the shipping delay. Maybe an intentional peace offering to hold us over?
Not sure if this means anything but they’re discussing these leaks on HTGTH. I thought in the past any discussion about leaks was forbidden. I could be wrong though.

I just listened to The General in a more proper setting and cranked it up instead of on my phone in bed at 1am trying not to wake up my wife. Sounds much better now. I was actually right in the process of opening the windows to let some of this unseasonably warm air in the house as I was blaring it and two Jehovah Witnesses were walking up to rign the doorbell. Figured the loud music and lyrical content might have scared them away, but no such luck.
