#41 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Bitter, Snowblind Weiland Badmouths Axl (Again) » 863 weeks ago
It was just a nothing joke I think people are over-reacting its not like it was a big thought out thing - people say stuff like this all the time.
#42 Re: Guns N' Roses » RS Top Albums of 2008 » 863 weeks ago
Hmm im surprised at the positive reaction 12th isn't that good particularly as RS are one of the most proGnR out there and hyped this album a lot. Behind Coldplay? And an average metallica album? Its hardly Axl's most acclaimed work. AFD and the two Illusions would have hammered all these bands.
#43 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy Elimination Round 1 » 863 weeks ago
Hmm, i love Madagascar. Its the song that kept me interested in this saga before the '06 leaks. Its also the song that has changed least over the years.Didn't like the Blues or Chinese Democracy back then, although the first leaks of those songs sorta changed my mind. I like Chinese Democracy, now but still not a fan of Street of Dreams. The vocals, the solo, the quotes and especially the guitar melodies in the chorus.
I voted for Scraped, I want to like it coz there are so few rock songs on the album, but this song is horrible; the intro in particular. I can't believe Buckethead co-wrote a song so uninteresting and boring. The lyrics are more "Its everybody else's fault that my band can't release an album" bullshit that I'm sick of listening to from Axl. Seriously, move on
#44 Re: Guns N' Roses » The lack of guitars/riffs » 863 weeks ago
Apart from IRS, CD and Better there are no riffs on this album. I was expecting a lot more from Finck and Fortus in that regard. Finck wrote better but it was Freese and Tobias who wrote the other two. Scraped, in particular could do with a bangin' riff and although I love Shackler's Revenge a rockin riff wouldn't go amiss.
Even when the riffs on the three songs I mentioned are played, there are always vocals over the top - in fact there are very few instrumental parts in these songs apart from the solos. Axl's ego getting in the way? He seems to think he has to be everywhere on every song even if it means singing "Na na na na"
#45 Re: Guns N' Roses » What song(s) have grown on you the most? » 863 weeks ago
Sorry I loved straight away! It was my favourite from the moment I heard it and still is.
Shacklers Revenge I hated at first but now its my favorite rocker on the album. This I Love has grown on me too, especially the solo which I wasn't fond of at first. IRS I always thought was ok but this version has grown on me. Its quite good. Hated If The World demo, this version has grown on me, I quite like it.
Two songs I always hated and still do. Scraped always sucked and still does - I can't think of anything good about this song whatsoever.Never liked Riad, still don't.
#46 Re: Guns N' Roses » NIN imploding? Finck coming back? (NOPE!) » 864 weeks ago
ok, but why no word from Robin himself? he has always been a communicative person..
and from GNR side? when BH leaved the band, Axl made a statement.
That was just so he could use BH as an excuse for the RIR cancellation - he had been out of the band a couple of weeks with no statement from Axl - it was only when RIR was cancelled that Axl made the statement; it meant he could blame somebody else, again.
#47 Re: Guns N' Roses » NIN imploding? Finck coming back? (NOPE!) » 864 weeks ago
As far as I remember he returned for the KROQ inland invasion and possibly a couple of other gigs and then left again - presumably that September was the first the band knew there would be no album and he went back on parental leave!!
#48 Re: Guns N' Roses » Have Herbie and Bucket been silent? » 864 weeks ago
Pitman has talked about the album. Not a lot, but he has talked. Ron is working on solo material Brain gave one of the best in depth interviews regarding his recording sessions. As far as Stinson goes, isn't he recording with Soul Asylum? Dizzy is doing the HNB thing. Fortus was touring with Rihanna. No one really cares about Frank. We know Finck aint talking. Buckethead would join a debate team long before Finck ever opens his mouth.
It comes down to bad timing and members either unwilling or unable to drop other things. The only two legit stars in the band are Axl and Stinson. Axl is AWOL of course, and maybe Tommy just doesn't want to drop whatever he is doing.
Brain did give a good interview I guess but it was hardly much promotion for CD. I expected more to coincide with the release. Pitman is only doing interviews because he has his own SexTapes album out and now and again he reluctantly answers GnR questions. Its quite clear he either doesn't want to or is not allowed talk freely about the release of the album. He did put one very cryptic message on his site which didn't mean anything.
I agree all the other guys are doing other things but its not like they aren't free to do interviews and discuss their excitement at the album being released. These guys have all been working in the album for anywhere between two and fifteen years. Surely they must be dying to talk about it. OK, its not their job to do so, but even so I'd expect to talk a lot more if they were free to do so.
#49 Re: Guns N' Roses » What if Scott Weiland was telling the truth? » 864 weeks ago
Remember also when people jumped Scott's ass for saying he doubted CD would even go platinum?
Looks like Scott may be right on that also.
Bear in mind that Scotts rant towards Axl in 06 started the downward spiral on HTGTH. It wasn't censored but it was added to the news section and then removed (I wonder at whos request) and it was the time Jarmo started saying "we don't care what he thinks of Axl - he has nothing to do with GnR" a line he soon started using as an excuse to censor anyone who criticised Axl. Soon leaks couldn't be talked about, anyone who was negative or questioned the band was discarded. That was the start of all the bias.
I remember before that anyone could say that they wanted and nobody gave a shit. For whatever reason, that changed everything.
It also pretty much started the rediculous VR vs GnR row. Jarmo himself had admitted to liking Contraband and going to a VR concert before that. After that, his musical opinion suddenly changed and he decided he didn't like Contraband anymore.

Axl alluded that it's HARD to get ahold of Izzy.
