I just saw the video of Tate spitting at his drummer, and couldn't believe my eyes. I guess it has been online for a few months, but here it is (3:56) if you are interested:

No clue how to embed the video, sorry!

Nice topic, Otto.  Those rumors came from "youthinkso" at mygnr, right?  Taken with a grain of salt, but interesting.

I would be all for Bucket being reintroduced.  That would certainly make it easier for Axl to release the old stuff.  It would also mean GNR has a guitar virtuoso that loves GNR, who is amazingly proficient at writing, recording and releasing quality music.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if attempts to get Bucket back have led to delays - both of CD, and of subsequent releases.  As much as I like the guys in the band, I'd have no problem with Axl dumping the lot, and offering the world to Bucket for him to return.

Question: I don't go to any other GNR sites anymore. Are there still people in such denial that they attempt to rationalize the situation with bat shit insane excuses?

Of course, but you knew that.

He wrote or co-wrote most of the hits, but they really only had hit singles from Empire (if memory serves).  I had to look it up, but DeGarmo gets full credit for both Best I Can and Silent Lucidity from Empire.  The other singles from that album were credited to Tate/DeGarmo, or Tate/Wilton.  The Operation Mindcrime singles were both DeGarmo/Tate.  I don't know if they had any other songs that could be considered "hits", but there were a couple of older singles that were credited entirely to DeGarmo.  Most have shared credits.

I'm getting ready by my station, ready to go on stage, and Scott [Rockenfield] looks at me and he smirks and says, "We just fired your whole family, and you're next." I just lost it.

That's really messed up.  I'm guessing there is another side to this story though, and it'll be interesting to hear (for me, at least).  Thanks for posting the article.

I had completely forgotten about that, so I looked around for info.  Apparently, their marriage didn't last very long.  He is still in the band though, best I can tell.

They really have been irrelevant for a long time, but I still really enjoyed big chunks of Promised Land, HITNF, Q2K, Tribe, and to a lesser extent, Mindcrime II and American Soldier. And I really appreciated the effort to create and release new material, even when it strayed wildly from what people were expecting.

This split makes me a little sad.  Seems like what's left of the band just used this Oklahoma incident as a final excuse to get rid of Tate (and probably his family-management team).  Good luck to them, but I won't be going out of my way to see them live, or buy any new material, unless/until Tate returns.  Just a guess, but I don't think they are likely to last long without him.
