'On a restless sea' = Down by the ocean/Down by the sea? probably not but who knows. I remember Axl saying Fink played an SRV style solo on one song, I would imagine that was Nothing.
I had this thought too. A theory could be Down By The Ocean could have been a working title based on the island-sounding guitar lick. Seems like something Izzy could come up with. The big thing that goes against it is the demo had no mention of bodies of water in the lyrics. What are the writing credits?
I haven't seen credits anywhere. I know what you mean about island sounding lick
Per YouTube
Producer, Vocalist: Axl Rose
Mixing Engineer, Producer, Engineer: Caram Costanzo
Additional Engineer: Eric Caudieux
Background Vocalist: Duff McKagan
Composer Lyricist: Guns N' Roses

I was told a few weeks ago by somebody that Nothin' was the framework of Down By The Ocean hence i wrote the update to the Chinese Democracy unreleased definitive list on. Badapplesforum was coming soon on Monday i was waiting on Nothin' to release before the update.
It would make sense the village sessions version had no instrumentals except keyboard.
Can i confirm this with anything factual ?
No. But it does make sense to me.
Axl also listed Down By The Ocean as a real song title in the 2008 forum chats.
Shacklermyrye you pointing it out instantly and all the credit to you on dentist drill sound effect on the village sessions version of Tonto which would make sense being Toothpuller.
Very impressive on your part.

Nightrain members received no special pre-sale ticket benefits?!? NEW LOW!!!
Perhaps the band shouild switch to whomever manages Slash or Duff. Those 2 put out new material without any glitches or "technical difficulties".
I wonder if they tweaked the names of the songs to cut out previous contributors from royalties.
Thanks !
Nightrain members did get a presale code but many posters on mygnr and gnr reddit said they were able to buy tickets without the pre sale code by just signing into ticketmaster.
They were able buy regular tickets and vip tickets without a presale code.

Simply to go along with the tour announcement and tickets going on sale? Doesn’t it make more sense to release songs closer to the start of the tour? Ultimately it doesn’t matter because the songs will come out and the band/mainly Axl won’t do anything with them. Unless things are different now? Nah, can’t be.
They haven't had proper management in eons. The brief period they had real management is when we got Chinese Democracy. TB took over after that. The only thing that runs competently is the touring machine and Live Nation does the heavy lifting there.
Everything but touring is just TB pretending like they know what they're doing and the big 3 indulging it because album and merch sales are a tiny percentage of their profits.
If this was the 90s when album sales were the bulk of your profits, they would've been immediately fired or GNR would've quickly been run into the ground.

Notice a pattern ?It's beyond coincidence....it was a strategy.
Bait and switch.
They've been doing it since day one of the saga....and continue to do it.
One of the worst was the 2006 Harley Davidson ad. Fan base going ape shit when we heard Better would be launched....they wind up using PC instead.
"See ya next summer with a bunch of new songs!"....
Nope... but you almost get AFD in its entirety.
It always winds up going back to AFD. ALWAYS.
It's a fucking miracle we ever got anything at all.
He wound up being another David Gilmour....he wanted the band name and everything that comes with it for himself but didn't have the drive or motivation to really pull it off.
Also why would Axl be talking about a marketing plan at the may 5th Japan gnr show on the iem recording for the new songs if they weren't ready for release ?
There is no marketing plan....there will never be a marketing plan.
These songs have been sitting there for years. We're still waiting on songs Slash talked about working on back in what....2018 or 19?
The marketing plan is the exact same one they used in 2021, 2023 and now in 2025.

The world cup.
The dates don't line up; WC in Boston is June 13 - July 9th. Maybe in between the Tinley Park and Toronto shows? Would be odd to skip the Boston area all together.
Only Zach Byran and Ed Sheeran are booked at Gillette next year so far as music acts. So they must not think they can fill the stadium.
Fenway park has the Red Sox with home games against the the White Sox the 4th, 5th, 6th the Athletics 7th, 8th, 9th.
Early August would be the dates that would make sense for a Boston show.
Here's the closet shows for the gnr world tour Saturday,
Aug 1, 2026
Hersheypark Stadium
Hershey, PA
Wednesday,
Aug 5, 2026
Rogers Stadium
Toronto, ON
Saturday,
Aug 8, 2026
Mystic Lake Amphitheater
Shakopee, MN
Wednesday,
Aug 12, 2026
MetLife Stadium
East Rutherford, NJ
Sunday,
Aug 16, 2026
Busch Stadium
St. Louis, MO

I am, and I believe you, don't worry
Guns are one of the most frustrating bands in the world for information.
But it's good to see new songs and another tour
Appreciate it and thank you for your reporting.
