I don't see it that way at all. I see it in the same light as BBF adding his flair to Chinese Democracy, or Frank adding his. It's about wanting the guys currently in the band to have their input and make a contribution to material already written and/or recorded.

No disrespect to Bumble or Frank I think this was a mistake.
If the song is strong, and existing contributions are good, leave it alone! Especially if it has already been through multiple iterations, mixing etc.
That's why I can't understand why they didn't do something with just some of these tracks over the last 4 years - b-sides, standalone singles, eps etc. Unless they're maybe just not as great as we were led to believe.
I prefer the idea of a CD re-release as a double album, accompanied by a completely new album shortly after, fresh tracks written by the band today. Let DJ, Fortus and Bumble loose without any previous influence.

Vegas is going to be like ground hog day for the band if they don't mix up that set list. I hope they have the courage to be more adventurous.

I dunno it still sounds like the main effort of this band is doing anything but recording and writing music. Residencies in Vegas, concerts in India? That's 2012 out of the way, I suspect 2013 will be along deserved break for the band and maybe just then they'll start writing in 2014. Which means we might get a record by 2020.
