#541 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR or NIN? » 158 weeks ago

Thank you Arnold! NIN just wouldn't have been the same thing. Completely different type of music.

In a movie like the Terminator you want something badass, not angsty, depressed rocker. Regardless how great that can be.

Ford vs. Ferrari

Pretty good. Well directed and well cast.

It made me think, because there is nothing wrong with this movie, yet I have no desire to ever watch it again. You know the story and it was well told, but you don't need to hear the same story again.

I think this is the difference between art and entertainment.

I only kind of like it because I'm a GN'R fan and any song from that era is worth having. It really isn't a very good song. Shouldn't have been on AFD. Could have scrapped Anything Goes too. They don't fit in. They sound like "what if GN'R was a hair metal band?".

More handsome than I expected. I thought you were a little fat but you're not.

Great hair.

#545 Re: Guns N' Roses » Why is GNR so ashamed of (most) of their past? » 159 weeks ago

There are only 3 things the fans really want in terms of unheard material:

The UYI documentary Perfect Crime
Chinese Democracy sessions.
Soundboards of unheard shows.

Everything else is old news or limited value. I guess it would be cool if they released individual track recordings of all the instruments on the albums. Don't know if that is ever really done.

This picture is actually perfect. It gives vibes of the last episode of a long running tv show and you see what the characters end up doing after the show is over.

I'm not so much looking at the dudes!

Of course the main leadinne is not ugly in an absolute sense, but definitely they could have found somebody more striking. Stranger Things is another example. Or Terminator Dark Fate. And it's not a matter of "oh my god she's such a good actress either", they are all average performers, so why don't you give me something pretty? The girl in Dark Fate is actually pretty but they tried to make her as manlike as possible in the movie.

What intrigues me the most is how far they are going to take this. Will we be seeing literal goblinas and costanzas on the big screen in the future? Like, leading the movie? Or will profits dictate we stick to reality on that issue which would serve as everlasting proof that their ideology is wrong? I think we are going to see it for exactly that reason. They can't let that happen. 300 pounds is pretty and healthy and you just gonna have to deal with that.

#548 Re: Guns N' Roses » Favorite Guns N'Roses Songs? :) » 160 weeks ago

This is tougher than it sounds. Obviously I could list a bunch of favorite songs but it would be like 20-30 songs. To make a top 5 or even a top 10 would be pretty hard. It's hard to even single out a couple of really big guns.

I think I have to categorize them.

1. Songs you play to people who say GN'R sucks:
-Locomotive
-My Michelle

I tried to come up with a third song but I think maybe that's it? You can't call any of those songs boring, pretentious, gay or that Axl sounds like the neighbourhood cat.

2: Songs you play to girls:
-NR
-Don't Cry
-Patience
-SCOM

Lots to choose from here. Had to make it a top 4.

3. Songs you play to show that GN'R is more than just sleazerock and ballads:
-DTJ
-The Garden
-Coma

4. Songs you play when you just want to get drunk and kick in a window:
-Jungle
-Nightrain
-YCBM

5. Party songs:
-PC
-Used to Love Her
-KOHD

6. Songs you play when you want to show this Axl dude can be fucking edgy:
-One In A Million

Not a movie but a good show, Battlestar Galactica.

I liked this when I first watched it 15 years ago. Didn't consider it "art tv" like the Sopranos, but it was a good fun show like SG-1.

Still holds up. The whole Cylon arc is pretty good tv for a network show. It is cable actually, but everything about it feels like a network show.

How are we still doing this after all these years? We never learn do we?
