I'd also love to smoke the same weed as himself

It's actually crazy to think the Ashba lineup was actually the most prolific lineup since UYI. Appetite for Democracy and Live @ 02 both in regular rotation on TV, and most diverse setlists we got were in his first leg.
That said, still the worst non-dark period for the band.
haha, this is mad, but true.

there's one supergroup I like that seems to keep going on - The Dead Daisies. their show here was super (in fact I preferred it to the GNR show which happened a few days later and I couldn't care less).
about DJ era - no, I was still hopeful in 2009 and a I actually enjoyed the first 2010 shows. but then it all went to shit, especially when I realized the Emperor is naked. I mean Axl's voice is full Mickey.
the current money grab nostalgia tour is just a logical continuation of 2010-2014 era, just with different lineup that allows more money grabbing.

I disagree here. the 2006/7 tour was still MASSIVELY popular, especially after all that buzz it got in fall 2006. I think it was right after that, when GNR disappeared from public view after the eastern tour 2007 and "tentative release date" in March (if I remember correctly).
I don't really want to mock DJ Ashba, he did what he could best, but the era during his stint was just a joke.
but not until the end of 2007 tour. my opinion.

not really sure about the pro-shot. HOB show was definitely captured professionally, as it was scheduled to be released officially. RIR3 was captured by brazilian TV. and the HOB DVD release was planned during 2001, so well before The Joint shows.

yup, exactly. and maybe also the first 2002 show at Hong Kong. the rest of 2002 has pretty much been bootlegged completely, sometimes incomplete, but well enough.
by the way, I've just found out about a band called Universal Hippies. started listening to that... thinking how the hell is it possible that I KNOW this sound. it totally reminded me old Buckethead albums. for example, songs Homo Sapiens or Holy Slave.
similar feeling I got was for example the song Moksha by a band called My Sleeping Karma.
oh well, that was a cool era, when we were still thinking that Axl has something awesome to deliver

haha, yes, it's a shame we never got the 2001 era bootlegged properly.
btw, the pair of December 2001 shows were not at HOB (that was 01-01-01), but at The Joint

I still prefer anything to nothing (or more precisely said, to a nostalgy ripoff)

it's about getting as much money as possible.

lol. the actual difference between the two is, Trent is creating music and releasing it. Axl just lives from his past and has zero creative output at least in 10 years, most probably even 15 years or more. so - it's quite funny to compare those two. and don't get me wrong, I'm not particularly huge fan of Trent, but still I can admire a guy dedicated to making music happen.
