#51 Re: Guns N' Roses » BETTER: second single CONFIRMED » 866 weeks ago
Wow. Awesome detective work guys.
Better sounds ENORMOUS. The 'Na na na' harmonies at the end sounds way more processed, compressed and artifitial than earlier leaks but I'm just gonna accept whatever Axl wants us to hear. The more we get hung up on Brian May and old mixes the less we appreciate that this is all happening after so many years.

Yeah I agree with that.
Not to bang on but seriously, that new 'What'd I tell ya?' line at the end of SoD sticks out like a sore thumb. His voice is soo different. The rest of it is completely smooth and then that pops up and it's scratchy and strained and sounds like it was recorded on a tape player and spliced in the morning they sent the masters to be pressed. Oh dear.

lol, no fluff is bang on.
Lofton, I gotta say, I really don't know why Bucket didn't get the solo on TIL. He probably did a load of takes of it and Axl chose one of Finck's. Axl likes Finck's feel and probably decided he wanted it for TIL but whilst I'm not gonna judge it too soon, the solo isn't up there with the rest of the track for me.
And as I've said before, Ron and Finck's solos on Catcher really bug me; when you have a guy like Bucket who can turn his hand to any style, why put inferior stuff on the record just to placate people and give them a credit?
I can only imagine that Bucket would have brought a melody to make your heart bleed on TIL. I respected and liked Finck but am starting to care less that he's gone.

What a class A post. This guy is good.
lol, cheers dude.
Whilst I understand that because Axl said TIL was emotionally so heavy that some people hoped the lyrics would be like Locomotive crossed with Estranged times the power of 10, I think people are missing the point to some extent. Nobody is criticising Shackler's for having the most simple, basic lyrics on the album leaving us with no idea who/what it's about and I think that's partly because it's not perceived as such a cliche. I mean, the Shackler's lyrics on paper mean sweet fuck all to me but because I don't generally listen to that kinda music I'm quite enjoying it coming from Axl and not worrying too much about exactly what Axl doesn't believe there is a reason for.

Now, the new lyrics at the end of SoD, I reckon it's really really obvious how they've been pasted in: Axl sounds quite different in the new parts, and he could well have been 8 years older when he did them, and they also just sound different in terms of the recording of the vocal.
I don't like them. The whole point of the last four wordless lines to me is that words can't express what he's trying to convey, just screams of anguish. When you stick in a line like 'What's I tell ya?' it trivialises that.

I couldn't disagree more about the TIL lyrics. A cliche isn't a cliche when it's completely and obviously sincere.
I can completely relate to the way Axl has seemingly obsessed over Seymour for so long. I know how it feels to believe more than anything that nobody could mean as much to you as this one person who doesn't feel the same. Some people have endless relationships and get married multiple times, for others, people like Axl and myself, the breakdown of one such relationship.marriage is enough to mess you up bad, but to go through it again has a permanent emotional effect on you; you're never quite the same again.
This I Love isn't like some Tim Rice/Jon Bon Jovi made to order, by the numbers love ballad with cliched, empty platitudes; Axl means every single line in the song with every fibre of his being.
Before I'd heard the song once, when I read the lyrics, I knew it was going to be great because I related intensely to them, the same was I do to Twat, IRS, The Blues and Prostitute.
If you don't get/like it, you have to realise that when he sings 'I'd search the universe and find mysrlf in her eyes', he hasn't just knocked those words off like some session writer making a record for Britney Spears. There are times of emotional extremes when such sentiments are the absolute truth.

Well I'm happy now. Finally a clean version of TIL. That's really all I was wanting.
Is it in circulation? I'm having no luck.

I wouldn't blame everyone over there Jordan. Most of the pro-Bucket people can't say a word because Fraulein Madison over there won't allow any discussion on Bucket, even if it's to say whether he prefers Extra Crispy or Original Recipe.
I know dude, I was just exaggerating cause I like saying stuff like 'heaving pile of jizz-sacks'
But I bloody hate reading through any really heavily traficked message boards where 8/10 posts are along the lines of 'that's rubbish i luv the old band, thjis i love is gay'.
