#51 Re: Guns N' Roses » Have Herbie and Bucket been silent? » 892 weeks ago
Buckethead returning is the only thing that could re-awaken my interest in this band, especially in a touring sense.
Its incredible that the confidentiality agreements are still there even as the album gets released. Pitman promotes his own album but refuses to talk about GnR, BBF is the only other one doing interviews and they aren't very revealing - no word from Fortus, Dizzy, Stinson or Frank. Finck has been silent since he left, as has Buckethead (he's always silent though), Brain, and Freese. Its amazing the confidentiality has continued even after they left. They should be writing books!! Its not like Axl would sue them he'd look stupid.
I'm sure a lot of people would love to hear from co-producer Caram Constanzo as well but nothing....

Izzy recently said in an interview that if a reunion happened, he wanted to be involved. .
Are you talking about the Sun article or an actual quote? If the latter, then I must have missed it can you send me a link? Thanks
#53 Re: Guns N' Roses » AXL goes AWOL » 892 weeks ago
"What is in the stores is not the "final" master approved by Axl.
He has changed it several times since then."-posted at the Velvet Rope today from a guy who has been very accurate about the album.
That would make sense and i wouldn't be surprised but if true its pathetic. If he can't get these songs right ten years after thy were written he never will. The only thing I might be vaguely interested in is alternative solos on some of the songs but seriously he has to forget about this era and move on. Nobody would care if any of this stuff was released again and I doubt he himself will ever be satisfied. No doubt mixed reactions of the album will spur him on even more as he convinces himself its the labels fault for forcing him to release the album.
Like someone said, the label could use it as a cash cow but i doubt Axl would want to see it that way.

Guitarist IZZY STRADLIN has said he is keen to see the original members back
Anyone else see this? I wonder is this from the source or where are they getting this from. I doubt its true tho. I don't think a reunion will happen but -
I kinda hope there is a reunion just to shut all them boys up at htgth - jarmo, jim bob, chineseblues and adz. I've never seen someone hate someone else as much as they hate Slash. Every little thing he does is analysed to make him look like an asshole. I wonder if they really mean everything they or do they realise how rediculous they sound. There comes a point where you have to let it go - we know you hate Slash - no need to troll every thread till someone says something stupid and then they get to ban or give karma to a "Slash-loving hater of the current band."
They assume that anyone who dares suggest something Slash says might be the truth or that Slash doesn't have an agenda in saying something, that they are obviously are a troll and hate the new band. Its pathetic. I pointed out that all the people who were defending Slash were massive fans of Axl, the current lineup and Chinese Democracy but nobody responded to that.
I just want to see them backtrack if the old lineup get back together.
Then again they have been caught out before with Richard Fortus playing with Rhianna and Shackler's Revenge on Rock Band. There explanations were pathetic - "Richard was just a session musician". WTF. He played live!! If anything thats worse coz he was cashing big pay cheque. Not that I care, hes perfectly entitled to, but so is Slash. They came up with any little difference between the two and use that to explain even if it makes no sense.
So if they complain about Slash doing something, then Axl does the same thing later, then they called on it, they same something like
"Its ok for Axl coz he has red hair"
#55 Re: Guns N' Roses » NBC's Football Night In America, just played "Scraped" » 893 weeks ago
Not a big fan of Scraped - in fact my least favourite on the record and it hasn't grown on me at all - I don't hear any of these great rock riffs everyone keeps talking about - someone even described it as being like Led Zeppelin??
Nice lyrics and great solo though.
If its released it would be surprising that the first three singles would all be rockers - hardly representative of the album; bring on Sorry! Although I see Street Of Dreams as the most likely ballad single.
Hopefully they'll get a video out soon - getting played on the video channels and youtube would make a massive difference I'm sure. Doubt it will happen though.
#56 Re: Guns N' Roses » Brain & Frank - a question about the album credits » 893 weeks ago
It looks like Robin and Caram Constanzo done the drum arrangement for Better - presumably they programmed the drums we heard in some of the original demos. Brain and Frank simply recorded those parts and presumably Axl/Constanzo cut and paste the best parts by each. Brain also gets a credit for drum arrangement so perhaps he added some variations or perhaps he was also involved with programming the drum machine.
There are couple of examples of this - looks like pitman, constanzo and even axl originally programmed drums on TWAT - with Freese and then Brain doing their own variation enough to get credited for drum arrangement. Frank also recorded drums and once again their drum parts were cut and pasted. The level of perfectionism is just insane really.
Its likely Ferrer spent the last couple of years recording drum parts for every song, with Axl/Constanzo deciding where to use Brain and where to use Ferrer.
It also looks like Chris Pitman was originally responsible for programming the drum machine for Madagascar and Caram Constanzo for Prostitute (I believe the first demo had a drum machine if I remember correctly).
There are also various credits for MPC Drums/Drum Programming for Brain, Eric Caudieux and Pitman - presumably some drum machine parts were left in.
#57 Re: Guns N' Roses » The Most Self-Indulgent Albums EVER! » 893 weeks ago
1. Lyrics with lots of medieval words, such as tempest, screed, manor, shire, cloister, parchment, and pilgrimage.
2. Songs that run more than ten minutes on at least half the album.
3. Covers that look like a Harry Potter book or a Dungeons and Dragons game.
4. Packaging that includes two or three discs.
5. Tracks that feature at least one keyboard solo.
Hehe, I know this is supposed to be tongue-in-cheek, but none of GNR's albums have any of this stuff, well unless you count Illusion as two discs on one packaging.
He seems to make a distinction between the White Album and the others - I'm not sure why the White Albumalways escapes any critisism of pretentiousness - the Beatles get away with anything because they are sacred. Paul McCartney's quote could just as easily apply to Guns N' Roses.
I agree that some of Chinese Democracy is a little two over done, especially Catcher In The Rye, but in the case of the Illusions, people forget they are full of straightforward rock songs that are as good as anything on Appetite. They seem to think November Rain and Estranged sum up the whole album.
#58 Re: Guns N' Roses » Thoughts On "Excuses" » 893 weeks ago
Ha Ha!
Money, money, money, moneeeeee-eeeeee-yyyyyyy
I have to agree with Neemo that a reunion wont happen anytime soon. But along with the other mentioned obsticales (Beta, Del...) I'd throw Perla into that, too.
Now that would be a train wreck no amount of money could fix.
I think if anything Perla would support a reunion - in her most recent interview she left no doubt what her favourite band her husband has been in is and even praised Chinese Democracy. Plus shes a woman, and woman love money haha.
I don't think a reunion will happen for a long time. I think from Slash's point of view its more likey than ever - VR have broken up; he is working on a solo album but he's still a band guy - he seems to have tired of the search for a new fulltime lead singer and probably doesn't want to start a new band. With Axl having released CD, he must see it as the best opportunity. That doesn't mean he wants to, but for him its the right time.
As for Axl, there is no way he wants a reunion now. I just don't see it.

#60 Re: Guns N' Roses » Another skip? » 893 weeks ago
I'm not sure if its at the same point, but there is some note (could be guitar or synth or keyboard, not sure) that sounds like one of these AIM sounds added to the second leak. I thought one had been left on the album for a second. Its in the second verse, as far as I remember.
