#51 Re: Guns N' Roses » BUMBLEFOOT Says Waiting For A New GUNS N' ROSES Album To Get Done Is ' » 672 weeks ago
While I'm busy going off on one – the problem I have with Bumblefoot, as much as I like him as a human being, is that you bloody know that whenever there's a crescendo of any sort within a song, he is going to put in some twiddly technical stuff – whether it's appropriate or not.
Compare the bit of Nightrain from 2:35 onwards in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBw_U3GNJJo
with this bit from 2:21 onwards:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWK99RS18JQ
Buckethead and Bumblefoot have both elaborated on Slash's original solo, but where Buckethead comes up with an interesting little scale made of single notes, Bumblefoot adds that twiddly bit right before Axl comes back in. It's unnecessary and predictable. Buckethead knows when just a single note will do (even in his infamous Nightrain solos, there are plenty of points where he's not twiddling away doing fast runs), and I don't think Bumble (or Ashba, for that matter) have that restraint.
I've never liked the way BH plays Nightrain. I alway felt he took so much bite out of the song. His solo doesn't fit the song. After watching those two clips I'm even more convinced Bumble does better job than Bucket.

He doesn't have to do anything but play the role how he did. He IS Luke Skywalker and 99.9% of people on this earth don't know him as anything but. All he's gotta do is play the role the way he did but with a tad more elder statesman to it and a bit less young punk impatience. He's got to have some words of wisdom scenes ala Yoda. And I don't need to see Luke physically kicking ass the way Yoda did in the prequels(which was one of the worst aspects of the prequesl in my opinion and completely devalued Yoda's character). Luke's force presence should just be embodiment not swashbuckling action. Luke is argueably the most powerful Jedi ever so you just can't have a character that's struggling to get back into game shape. When you said campy I immediately thought Adam West as Batman and no that is the furthest thing from my mind when I thin of how Hamill played the role. He may have been a bit over the top but it wasn't done in an attempt to be campy or funny the way West payed Batman.
We'll have to agree to disgaree on this direction

Ashley Leggat tweeted this pic of herself today. Even her tongue is sexy.

I voted for Prostitute. Best song off CD in my opinion and I don't think I've ever seen Slasherr's video of it.

But what you're suggesting has Luke as a 'serious' character, which he really never ever was.
Hamill always played it campy. To me it'd be right in line with the original style he had. Abrams has already suggested it's going in that new Dallas direction. A revival of the original franchise, just many many years into the future.
He wasn't campy at all. He wasn't any sort of comedic relief. His character was a serious character or a young boy who lost his aunt and uncle and had no other choice but to go with Ben. In fact Luke is the most serious character in the franchise. Han was the campy womanizer kinda comedic guy but that was his character. he was a smug, half witted scruffy looking nerf herder. Leave the camp and one liners to Han not Luke. Luke in his old age should be more like Yoda not Jar Jar

I agree Russ. The old IC belt is as good or better than even the wing tipped belt. It was always bigger than the World Heavyweight belt too which I thought was odd since the HW championship was always like the A division and the IC belt was always like the B division in terms of importance although I loved how back in the day the IC belt actually meant something.
the WWE needs to do something. I've always thought it is lame they have a WWE Champ, a HW champ and an IC champ, a US champ..... too many. The belts don't mean anything anymore. Part of that in my opinion is they are always changing them and that they change hands way too often aside from Punk recently. It's pretty lame that Randy Orton is a 9 time champ. I mean c'mon. I love Triple H and even I think it's lame he's like a 13 time champ.
They should get rid of the US belt and get rid of the WWE belt. Have the HW championship(current style or wing tipped) and the IC belt and the tag belts and that's it. Also tag teams should not be individuals paired up. They should bring back actual tag teams and hve them wrestle as tag teams only.
Tag belts should also go back to the classic belts
But yeah the IC belt in any colour looks sick.

I will admit in some ways, it works with things like The Expendables, because A) Stallone & co. play up the fact they are fossils, and B) it's a bunch of old guys kicking the shit out of old guys.
So if you're into that, go for it.
The problem with things like Die Hard 5, or Conan III (which is supposed to be torch-passing), and sending out another Rambo with those guys in comparison to Star Wars is it's utterly ridiculous to see them, and believe they are doing this stuff at that age.
One thing I haven't seen is an actor willing to make fun of himself to make a point. I think that's a great concept. Think Hamill in the new Star Wars, and his force is rusty. So everytime he tries to do vintage Luke stuff, they play up to the audience an old cool move Luke did, and then just have his old ass bust his ass, every single time, and then lead up to a big finish where he actually accomplishes a throwback move as an old man in the role.
I think that's a great idea personally. It tricks the audience, and leaves you guessing, yet is realistic.
Wow! We are so not on the same page whatsoever
There's no way in hell I want to see Jedi Master Luke Skywalker providing me with geriatric Indiana Jones type comic relief. I don't need to see a rusty Jedi master struggling to find his form when it comes to the ways of the force only to have it be there when he needs it most. He's not Schmendrick the magician. The idea of Luke being frustrated at his inability to fully harness the force would just be silly in my opinion
Luke to me should be more like Yoda was in Empire. Yoda was never rusty. Luke could play the role of bumbling fool as Yoda did when we first meet him in Empire but always be in full control of the force. Luke could use his age and unassuming appearance to manipulate and trick people but please don't give me a guy who's struggling to find his way. It would be a total joke in my opinion

#59 Re: The Sunset Strip » Kelly Clarkson rips Clive Davis a new one » 672 weeks ago
Kelly Clarkson is one of the bright spots in pop music. Once she ditched the lame R&B influence of her first album(I'm pretty sure the style and direction of that album was absolutely forced on her as the American Idol winner) she's been pretty good. Lots of catchy pop rock singles. Since U Been Gone, Never Again, My Life Would Suck Without You, Stronger, Catch My Breath, Behind these Hazel Eyes, I Do Not Hook Up, Dark Side, etc etc etc. The reason she's still successful today more than 10 years after she won American Idol IS because she has pushed for a specific direction in her music. Yes she owes a lot to the industry but had she not fought to get her way they'd have burried her as just another mundane, boring pop star who won a talent contest at one point. She'd have been long forgotten by now if Clive Davis had is way when it comes to the music. I mean what kind of idiot would turn down the song Because of You and say it does't rhyme. Because of You is a GREAT pop song that actually had a lot of depth and substance to it.
Kelly Clarkson is probably my #1 guilty pleasure when it comes to pop music these days. Her and Pink. I'm glad she stood up for herself and said what's on her mind. I think more of the higher ups in the industry should be put in their place and told to STFU when it comes to the music. They clearly don't know as much as the think they do.
I think she's gonna be around for a long time still and the older she gets the more control she'll have of her own music so.... Clive can either get on board or fuck off
Here's the song that doesn't rhyme and is proof Kelly is shitty writer
Couple more samples for those who may not be familiar with her music
And why not a live one from the Troubadour

I could be biased cause I've always loved that old belt. I had to do some digging but I knew I still had it somewhere. This is a cardboard belt I made when I was in grade 6. That's 1989! It fit like a charm back then, not so much in 2013
