"Had to stay in LA to take care of a personal matter" yeah. Like rehab... I really hope he gets his life together.
I hope so too, and hopefully before something terrible happens like losing his daughter, health, or getting kicked out of the band. But on the bright side, continued struggles with his demons may lead to another awesome solo album.
On the Jovi Sirius channel yesterday, there was a quick interview with Richie leading into playing Runaway, where he said that it wasn't really til Slippery When Wet that he thinks Jon started thinking more of the band dynamic. Before then, the band was pretty sure he was leaning towards being a solo artist with a backing band. Really interesting insight.
That IS interesting, and it makes me wonder, if Richie doesn't get his shit together, do they go on as Bon Jovi without him, or is Jon just a solo artist from that point on. Jon and Richie are the song writers for Bon Jovi, so without Richie, and even with the rest of the guys as a backing band, it really is just Jon.
(I loves me some run on sentences)

Looooove Sevendust. No BS with these guys - they know what they are good at and stick to it.
New album is good - Decay is an awesome single. Total throwback. The title song Black Out the Sun is well put together as well.
I was able to listen to a few tracks today. I liked what I heard, some great riffs and melodies. BOtS and Decay stood out as you said. I also really liked Faithless and Cold as War. The only track I didn't like so far is Till Death. The screaming just doesn't do it for me, turns me off.

Damn. Hope he's not off the wagon.

So he said Axl was took charge and he didn't it, still don't see what the big deal is. Talking trash is telling a story about how your ex band mate used to pee himself because he was so drunk, or having your wife talk about how an ex band mate has eaten to many chilli burgers. This is just Izzy telling it how it is.

Sounds like Rob's on the whole album, not just a few tracks. Getting pumped here; I really liked Worship Music.

How did Rob Caggiano end up joining the band?
“Well, when you get to the point in your career where you’re making a number of albums, I don’t really see the point in putting out the same record twice. So I felt it was time to change some of our habits, because in the past we’ve tended to work in the same way, at producer Jacob Hansen’s studio…
“So this time around, we’ve come to PUK studios in Denmark and, as you say, Rob Caggiano has become involved, working alongside Jacob. The result is a new sound for Volbeat, a new vibe, although that’s not to say the songs aren’t still typical of what we are known for; it’s still 100 per cent Volbeat, but everything has been taken to a higher degree, and I can honestly say I’ve never heard the band playing so well.
“Everyone has been truly inspired by the new surroundings and the new team – so much so, that I’ve even re-written some of the songs in the studio; there were so many great ideas flying around, that it made me want to push myself even harder… and the recordings are sounding great. Nothing is mixed yet, but it’s really strong already, so my main concern is that whoever mixes the record doesn’t fuck it up! Having said that, we just heard a test mix from Chris Lord-Alge – it was amazing, so he’s now confirmed to mix the whole thing. I know everyone says this, but this IS the best album Volbeat has recorded – at least until the next one! I set myself a number of goals for this record, and all of them have been achieved, so I couldn’t be happier, and having Rob on-board has really worked out well. You know, I was really impressed with the sound of the new Anthrax album, which he worked on, so we discussed maybe working together in the studio on a couple of songs, but it’s now gone way further than that! Rob really knows what he’s doing…
“One of the things I’m most happy about this time is the contrast in the material, the range of the music; on the one side, you have the western motifs, the rockabilly / country songs, and the real emotional melodies, and on the other, some of the heaviest – actually, THE heaviest – songs we have ever recorded. There was a record company guy in the studio the other day, and he was absolutely blown away by the ultra-heavy stuff. He said he wasn’t even sure he was listening to Volbeat! Ha! Ha!”

I don't see what the big deal is. He said Axl took charge, how's that talking trash?

Me and my bro may see them in NC in May with a bunch of other bands. It depends if he is able to do the second day of the festival. We are going to make a full plan on how to make it sometime this week.
I expect to see a picture of you two with the band posted here soon.
I just found out they'll be playing in NYC in a couple of days, but I'm not going to be able to make it :-/

Very cool. My friend actually got to meet these guys after a show once, said they were really down to earth and cool.

I couldn't find a thread for these guys already, which is kind of surprising. I recall a winter in '98 when their first album was practically all my friends and I would listen too. They just came out with a new album and it's getting pretty good reviews.

A friend of mine picked it up and I'll be borrowing it pretty soon, so I'll be posting my review soon.
