#611 Re: GN'R Downloads » Incredibly obscure request – the Velvet Revolver Kelly Schaefer demos » 435 weeks ago
I second this request, curious to hear that!
(I must admit I've been confused with Snakepit '00 demos, because there are some songs from the studio that didn't make it to Ain't Life Grand... but I do have those, not the VR or The Project ones)
#612 Re: Guns N' Roses » Steven Adler Reddit AMA » 435 weeks ago
awesome post Axlin! yeah, that's how things are.
talking about Sorum - yeah, he's a good drummer. but as a person, he's almost the same prick as Adler. albeit not THAT stupid. anyway, it's 20 years since he was in the band and his contribution to the band is very low (re-recording Adler's parts at UYI and playing covers at TSI - not a single writing contribution). he would most probably be a similar bad apple in the band as Adler.
nah, move on, Frank Ferrer is the drummer of GNR, like it or not.
(personally I don't really care, from an artistic point maybe I'd prefer Brain, Josh Freese or even Sorum, but it doesn't really matter)

huh... original... I thought I'd finally find myself as Ole Beich, but no :'( damn!
#614 Re: The Sunset Strip » Metallica new song 'Hardwired', new album Nov. 18th » 438 weeks ago
the song is catchy, hard to switch off, instant hit.
the problem is, it gets repetitive very soon. and the rest of the album is more forgettable, maybe except for CD3, which is actually quite interesting.
don't get me wrong, they did a decent work, similarly to the previous album, but the problem is, it's a bit too... shallow.
btw, the live version from CD3 is maybe even better than the "studio" version!
#615 Re: Guns N' Roses » Steven Adler Reddit AMA » 438 weeks ago
Steven is the lowest of the low.
this. it's freaking 2017 and the guy never left the 1980's. what an irritating, stupid and wasted POS. he was a great drummer in the AFD times, and since then he became an annoying moron. fuck him.

And here's a second pre-classic era bit for today.
I've been going through Hollywood Rose recordings, sorted them out chronologically by "source release date" with associated releases from the same source, and packed into this file.
Included is a text file with details I've collected around the interwebz. Credit goes, among others, to Dark Globe at chinesedemocracy.com (now inaccessible) and Redman at Blogspot http://chinese-democracy.blogspot.com/2 … demos.html
So, what is and what isn't in this file?
01 - Johnny Kreis tape (3 tracks) [***NOT INCLUDED - I don't have this one, and I'm really not sure it circulates in its original form***]
02 - eBay demo (4 tracks, circulating as "1983 Rose Demos") [MP3 - lossless version probably doesn't exist]
02B - Appetite for Outtakes (made from the eBay demo) [FLAC]
02B - Early Demos '81-'86 (made from the eBay demo) [FLAC]
02B - The Hell Revisited (made from the eBay demo) [FLAC]
03 - Rick Mars tape (8 tracks, circulating as "Rose Demos") [FLAC]
03B - Hairspray Heroes (made from Rick Mars tape) [FLAC]
04 - Hollywood Rose - The Roots of Guns N' Roses (3x5 tracks, source by Chris Weber) [***NOT INCLUDED - officially released***]
04B - The Many Faces of Guns N' Roses (4 tracks, probably also source by Chris Weber) [***NOT INCLUDED - officially released***]
05 - Metal Sludge live recordings (2 tracks) [MP3 - lossless version probably doesn't exist]
Based on the info I'm pretty sure this is all HR stuff that exists in audio.

Just for the completion sake - there's also some video stuff by HR, NOT INCLUDED in this file.
Hollywood Rose - The Roots of Guns N' Roses - Japanese release included a bonus DVD with some HR footage - I don't have the actual DVD altough I'd love to, but you can watch it on YouTube:
VH1 Behind The Music - included some HR footage, different from the Roots release - you can watch it on YouTube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nch2UFUNv1g
And then there's a more complete video of a song (hard to tell which one, might be as well just the band pretending to play something), overdubbed with studio demo audio. No idea where it came from, my sources are silent on it.
My Way Your Way overdub - you can watch it on YouTube:
Rocker overdub - seems to come from Cleopatra Records, you can watch it on YouTube:
I don't know of more video stuff out there, but in fact there might be circulating stuff I'm missing.
Enjoy the history, this happened way, way too many years ago!
(and if you think this is actually not a complete list, I'm listening )

#618 Re: Guns N' Roses » Dissecting Chinese Democracy: Oh My God » 441 weeks ago
I like the song. it's not a huge hit, but it's refreshing. and also, the only existing relict of late 90's sessions, without tons of added layers.
(yes, I know, we also have Big Daddy SCOM and to some extent the Live Era vocals and 2 demos and a short snippet of 3rd one, and also a few snippets in the Boston 2002 promo, but that's too little).
#619 Re: Guns N' Roses » Dissecting Chinese Democracy: Track 2 - Shackler's Revenge » 441 weeks ago
I actually like the solo! yes, I'd like to hear Bucket's take on it, but still - it's cool! fits much better than (for example) CITR solo, that one feels quite out of place.
#620 Re: Guns N' Roses » When was Guns N' Roses' last concert? » 441 weeks ago
yup, but that one has A LOT of mistakes, especially in the early years. and he the last year which seems to have complete information is 2009, then some pieces of 2010 and that's it. but yes, I'm using that one for my project as well
