I love how Morello doesn't seem to bother cutting the ends of his strings... I friggin' hate that noise!

It's cool, but you need to vary the way you structure your paragraphs more. It feels like almost every paragraph starts out with " [Person] [performed some action] while [random description of situation]". If you know what I mean... I see a lot of "Tim was..." and "Jessica started to..." type descriptions.
I'll read it more in-depth when I'm home, it seems interesting enough

I wonder why....
Atari, I'm sure you have the best intentions and all, but you're quoting out of context and I'm having a hard time believing it's not on purpose...
Quote 1: was a provoked response to DCK's post
Quote 2: the only time in this thread I posted my opinion, you quoted practically all of it and it's a grand total of nine words...
Quote 3: not about the quality of the album at all, and you conveniently forgot to include the "if" that I put there. I was just saying that if they can't turn around CD's sales and turn it into a success (by, e.g. clever marketing, good videos, decent support, ...), the changes the follow-up will have any sort of impact are slim to none. Nothing to do with my p.o.v. on the album's artistic qualities.
I'm sorry if you mistook part of my post as mindless bashing, but I sure as hell can guarantee you that I am definitely rooting for GNR to be a major commercial success again.

Wait a minute here.
95% of my post was about how I feel they missed their chance at making a successful comeback.
No... 95% of your post was "I can say honestly I'm not really into most of the album".
Really? Except for the final remark, the final sentence in the post, name one thing that expresses my personal feelings towards CD? Come on man, I know the remark must have stuck out at you like a sore thumb, but this defensiveness towards the album is growing really old, really fast. I honestly don't even think my remark could be considered a complaint, so you're so far off base it's not even funny any more...
Sorry for harping on about this, but it really ticks me off when I get thrown onto the same pile as the endless heap of trolls and haters.

Songs sure, very likely, but hits?

Heh, we just received notice that we'll be receiving around €7000 in tax refunds this year. Hurray for home ownership!

and Slash's solo album being released this summer will likely out sell CD as well
That would really surprise me. Unless he really pulls a Santana and has a few big cross-over hits, I really doubt he'll sell multi-platinum. Look at IFOCS, it did go Platinum, but that was not too long after the veritable GNR craze...

DCK wrote:True enough, but I can honestly say I'm not really into most of the album.
So why bother with it?
Because some people would rather complain, than make a meaningful contribution to a thread.
Wait a minute here.
95% of my post was about how I feel they missed their chance at making a successful comeback and my reasoning behind it, in other words: totally in line with the discussion. Only the very last sentence noted my personal feelings towards the quality of the music on the album, clearly stating them as such: personal feelings.
I'm not the one posting single-line comments, now am I? I'm anxious to know what your post (quoted here) contributes to this thread...

I would love CD part 2 and 3 or even 4. Bring it on. I get satisfaction from listening, not of the album sales.
True enough, but I can honestly say I'm not really into most of the album.

The band has proved they can sell 500,000 copies of an album in the US in just one store chain, with no promotion or original members. Still a pretty solid number in this day and for this band, especially.
I dunno, I think a lot of people bought this out of curiosity (ala CB) and the potential album will tank even more (ala Libertad). You only get one shot at a come-back and if they can't salvage CD my guess is they blew it.
I hope I'm wrong, but on the other hand I don't think I really need CD part 2.
