we already knew axl originally wanted the self-titled record out in november 2009. we also know he turned in a mixed and mastered album in the spring of 2010 and asked for a july release. seems reasonable that he's still trying to get UMG to release the album ASAP.
If that's true why wouldn't they? If the album was already finished and paid for, what would UMG loose from releasing it, other than making some money? I guess maybe they're deadlocked about the level of marketing or something....i dunno.
In that same thread on mygnr, MSL said that UMG wouldn't release the self-titled album without US-dates in sight.
And thinking about DJ's comments about an new album and US-tour, things look good!
I think it would be pretty cool
Chinese Democracy was a self deprecating title cause he knew the album wasnt going to happen any time soon, I think it shows a light hearted mindset amongst all the crazyness of making the album.
If the next one is self titled imo it would be another lighthearted move aimed at getting the most vocal of the "its not Guns N'Roses" posse knickers in a twist, and intentially give them something to gurn and cry about whilst giving them a raised middle finger. I think it would be pretty funny.
No doubt that if the next album is in fact self-titled, that is prolly the way Axl sees it!
It's like: "Guns N' Roses is whatever and whoever I say it is! And fuck you!!"
Funny as hell! I say go for it!

Regardless of new or old songs played, I think it's pretty poor of the band to come all the way to Australia for only four shows, and only play 16 actual songs in their set.
I'm sure the show was good, and people enjoyed it, but it's still disappointing.
Yeah, the show yesterday seemed unusually short.
Hopefully they'll ad songs to the remaining shows!

Yeah, they didn't play too much 'new' material in 2006 either.
What boring is that Axl 'I wanted to move forward but the others didn't' Rose is still living in the past and living off songs written by people he hates.
Get your facts (and quotes) straight.
During the last year they have played almost the entire latest album.
Past and recent history tells us there is ONE old member he hates.
Nice try though...How do you know, did you talk with Axl?
No, don't have to. You said "people he hates". That indicates more than one guy. Considering he have either hung out with and/or played with the majority of past members, your statement is most likely incorrect!

There is no doubt about U2 being bigger than GNR! No arguments there.
But for a U2-fan to come on a GNR-fan site and suggest that they should open for U2 is a cheapshot. Then acting all "Who? What? Me? I just think it would be a great idea!"
Childish!
And yeah.. I know all about Axl's love for U2. I've seen the pics, read the stories and seen the videos.
...what a great opportunity it would be for Gn'R. Playing to massive crowds...
Yes, GNR really needs to be the opening act for U2 to play infront of massive crowds!
Then once he's done, U2 can come in and slow it down...
Kinda contradicts the purpose of an opening act, doesn't it?
I don't think Bon Jovi could open for U2 to be honest. I think Bon Jovi is too popular. It wouldn't make sense for them. It'd be a great show but I don't see how it could work. I could see that as a possible Co-headlining tour but really who benifits from that? Nobody really. Stadiums are only so big and both bands sell them out on their own. They'd have to share the profits and it would be kinda shitty for the fans trying to get tickets as you've just doubled the "fan base" thats trying to get them.
Fuck yeah! A U2/Bon Jovi co-headliner tour and with GNR as the opening act! Right?

Retro flyer, retro setlist. The show could have been great though, but it's a joke that some people are close to an ejaculation when replacements of replacements play 25 old songs.
Has anyone noticed that the flyer is very similar to VR's Dirty Little Thing (Suckertrain Blues) train?
Really? Still?!

Cool!
Nice to see you continue to prove that you're a complete ass clown. Not for one second did I intend it to be a cheap shot. The very fact you saw it that way shows how often his nuts have bounced off your chin.
C'mon, don't be silly!
You and everybody knows very well that GNR opening for U2 would never happen! If GNR would open for ANYBODY, it would be Rolling Stones or a reunited Pink Floyd or something of that magnitude. There is no possible way ever that one of the most exciting frontman ever would bow to the guy who got voted the most boring rockstar ever!
So yeah, that was a cheapshot. You knew people would respond to it! You pretending it was not is like a teenage-girl type game and beneath even you!

see what I mean(I mentioned it a while ago in another thread) about Gn'R mirroring U2's touring schedule? They should've just opend for U2. Honestly they hit all the same places in Europe within days of each other and now U2 has 8 shows in Australia starting tonight in Melborne and ending on the 19th in Perth. Oh to "dream out loud"

So show started around 10 PM.
Can't expect any complaints on that....
