There's no need to appologize. I think even the staunchest of supporters and believers at one time or another lost a little faith along the way. It's only natural after such a long time.

I agree. I can't believe we're actually going over this. Someone said it before, why does every thread turn into a reunion thread? Some people refuse to let that die when there's NO evidence that it's gonna happen. You try to convince yourselves all you want that Axl has Slash on speed dial (or in his fave 5 to get with the times) and has his finger on the button ready to make the call. I just don't see it happening. Not sure why so many of you are so certain it's gonna happen. And don't try to explain it to me because none of the arguments or reasons I've read have made any sense. It's all baseless pipe dreams.

I don't see a reunion happening, not anytime soon at least. However, if Robin doesn't come back, say Tommy re-joins the Mats, then anything could happen. But I expect Tommy to stay put and I even think Robin may actually return now that things are starting to shape up. Give the new or current lineup at least one tour to promote a record that's theirs that's actually released first.
They already toured to support the album (multiple times)...they even quit the last one to finish the album (it had nothing to do with poor ticket sales). I think it's far more likely that they don't tour for CD than they do tour for it. I believe the next tour will have Slash and Duff in the band (for better or worse).
I realize they've had the multiple Chinese Democracy tours, but that was BEFORE the album was released. I don't know for certain but I'd expect AFTER the release IF they were to tour they'd play more than 4 or 5 songs per show from the new album. If not then that might be a telling sign. I'd think the new guys would want to play a good chunk of the material they helped create and a failure to do so would kind of be a slap in the face. Let's just let things play out, shall we?

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the new band - is dead. Done, over. The post-96 era is not officially closed because the album isn't out yet, nor has a reunion been announced... but it's like a TV show. Once the album is released, that'll be your 'series finale'. When the reunion is announced - 'official cancellation'.
Either way - show's over.

Dizzy is working on a solo albumBuckethead & Brain, who both presumably appear on the album (Bucket is confirmed) are LONG GONE. If you were an 'active band', a true band, why would former members work be on your album? Doesn't make sense, unless they're all hired Guns. No different than the Oh My God sessions.
Only way Guns N' Roses re-emerge at this point, at least as a 'live act' will be in a reunion. Doesn't mean Axl can't continue the brand name on as a 'studio only' act, but he knows he can barely sell tickets at this point with the new band.
I also don't see Irving Azoff backing the new band. He's a BIG player, and if he knows more money can be made with a reunited GN'R, he'll push for it - HARD. If Axl balks, Azoff will have no problem showing AXL the door. He's not going to work with talent who don't want to work at their upmost potential both artistically and financially. He has a line WAITING outside of his door. He doesn't have time to dick around with Axl's feelings. It's all about the benjamins baby.
Robin with NIN is a concern, admittedly. But it's never been stated that he won't come back.
Tommy messing around with Paul could lead to a Mats reunion, but again nothing has been announced.
Richard with Rhianna? Seriously, are you still concerned with that? He's a member of her backup touring band. Can you name the guitar player for Madonna's backup touring band in the 80's? How about Michael Jackson? Who played guitar during "Dirty Diana"? Did that guy leave a band like Guns N' Roses? He's keeping himself busy but I'd bet my life if he was given the choice of GNR/Rhianna backing band he'd choose GNR every day and twice on Sunday.
And I respect Dizzy, but do you think his solo album is gonna set the world on fire? Will he be the next Dave Grohl? I wish the best for him, but I view that as a side project. And even if the band is dead, I'd think Dizzy would be a part of the reunion. Or is his solo gig gonna interfere with that too?
I'm surprised you didn't mention Bumblefoot is now more interested in appearing with GNR cover bands.
I know some people want to see a reunion and are more than ready to bury the current incarnation of Guns N' Roses, but let's at least let them have their time in the sun. We'll cross the reunion bridge when we get to it. People seem to think that Axl, Slash, and Duff could get back together with a snap. Do you really think it's that simple? When's the last time Axl said something positive about any of those guys? It's not that easy. I'd be willing to bet you'll have to wait another 9 years for a reunion. If that's what you wanna do, be my guest.

Well, I dunno about you guys, but for me, after CD comes the discussion, then Slash's solo record, VR's new singer, the CD follow-up album(s), possible reunion, touring, etc...
Actually, I was on the verge of calling it quits when Scott bailed and the CD/Reunion rumours started again.
Yeah there will still be plenty to talk about. Especially with 2 bands. Hopefully there'll be a tour to promote the album. Then we can get back to normalcy and start complaining about the setlists again. Enough of all this positivity!

My guess (as it has always been) is CD comes out and then there's a reunion. It's the only thing that makes any sense and explains the lack of promotion, lack of news on any of the "band members", etc. The album is being released through Best Buy to get the money upfront, contribute an album to satisfy the recording contract, and prepare for the real cash cow.

Will certainly be interesting to see the state of the communities in a post CD era. The GNR communities have never existed with an album out. The entire duration of the sites, friendships, dramas,etc. has always revolved around the common bond of waiting amongst hardcore fans. The hardcores always sought out the online communities because people we all know in "real life" cannot relate to the situation. Once the album is released, it changes everything.
It provides complete closure. People will react to that closure in varying ways. Some will "move on". Some will stick around. Names you haven't seen in years will pop up, if only for a moment. New people will walk through the door. As GNR and its fanbase enter the post CD era, the communities are going to have to evolve as the change occurs. The split second its released, all the sites enter uncharted waters. The days/months/years of speculating are over. Reality will have arrived, and since its a fanbase that always lived among the clouds of "What If's", "maybe's", "coulds", and "shoulds", nothing is certain except Chinese Democracy.
Very true. It's gonna be strange being in a post CD era. I liken it to being a Red Sox fan, which I am. I used to post incessantly on Red Sox message boards before they won it all in 2004. The wait was so long and painstaking, we sought out the comfort of other like fans. Only Sox fans could understand what we've been through and how much it meant to finally win it all after 86 years. Needless to say, I don't think I've posted on a Red Sox board since. I still care just as much as I did before they won it all. I realized life goes on, nothing really changes. Maybe you smile a little wider on certain days. All the complaining and speculating was pretty much gone. Will the same happen once CD is released? It's possible for some I'm sure. I'd like to think I'll still be around, but history could always repeat itself.

wouldn't you think that they would allow if the world to appear on the body of lies soundtrack though ? i mean if this is the big push for a late nov release a song played at the end of a major blockbuster only in the credits as a teaser is odd considering its not on the actual soundtrack:headbang:
The reason the song won't be on the soundtrack, or the reason it won't be released as a single or Shackler's wasn't released as a single MAY have something to do with the Best Buy exclusive. I obviously am just speculating but maybe Best Buy wants to release the beast to the masses before anyone has a chance to purchase 2 songs separately months prior.

I wish Hits Daily Double had reported what their source was. Is this actually confirmed through band (or Best Buy) management? Or are they just reporting more unconfirmed message board rumors & speculation? I want to believe, but I'm still skeptical until I hear it confirmed officially.
Yeah that's the thing with all these rumors. Without a report from the band or management, any rumor is hard to believe. We can all hope it's true, but it's sort of like the boy who cried wolf at this point.
