#6671 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy release date? » 872 weeks ago
This was posted in the Best Buy leaks thread. People are saying that site is pretty reputable. www.hitsdailydouble.com that is. Sounds like a masterful plan if it turns out to be true. As always though, I'll temper my excitement until we hear something concrete.

Not sure if this latest rumor has been discussed here. Someone did mention the possibility of a 3 disc release in the last couple weeks, so this isn't anything new. BUT, here it is anyway.
http://chinese-democracy.blogspot.com/
Here's the latest Chinese Democracy rumor to set the interweb on fire:
"From what I am hearing now, Chinese Democracy is still a three disc set, consisting of the following:
a) a CD containing the new material
b) a CD or DVD (not sure which) with live performances
c) a DVD of behind the scenes footage
so techinically, yeah, it's three discs, but only one with new music
and all signs point to November 25th"
I've been reluctant to pass this rumor along - because it's just that, a rumor, - but with Chinese Democracy news so scarce I figured I'd at least mention it.
It certainly would be nice to have a 3 disc set - and a DVD of behind the scenes footage would be massive.
"The true, ongoing, behind-the-scenes triumphs and casualties are much more complicated than any negative speculation that the media or otherwise has managed to hit upon."
It's not a traditional album - so don't expect traditional marketing. If you're giving up on 2008 because there's less than 8 weeks until Black Friday - then you're suffering from a lack of imagination.
March 18, 2008: The Raconteurs announce the March 25 release date of Consolers of the Lonely, their second disc.
"We wanted to get this record to fans, the press, radio, etc., all at the EXACT SAME TIME so that no one has an upper hand on anyone else regarding it's availability, reception or perception. We wanted to explore the idea of releasing an album everywhere at once and THEN marketing and promoting it thereafter. The Raconteurs would rather this release not be defined by its first week sales, pre-release promotion or by someone defining it FOR YOU before you get to hear it."
So - I don't know when Chinese Democracy is coming out, but there's no law that says they have to announce it 2 months ahead of time. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't say BOO until 1 or 2 weeks before they pull the trigger.
I'll say that again for added emphasis:
I wouldn't be surprised if they don't say BOO until 1 or 2 weeks before they pull the trigger.
Anyway, it's been a slow news week.

I was never calling for Eli and Coughlin's head. I remember defending Eli on here to the nth degree.
Dallas is a good team, dont get me wrong. But man do they look like a team that could come unglued at any time. TO is a ticking time bomb, Romo looks depressed all the time, Wade Phillips has an owner looking over his shoulder all the time and an assistant coach just waiting for his shot. Oh and did anyone see the Phillips' post game press conference? I cant remember the exact words, maybe someone can find it, but he mumbled something when he walked off the stage towards a reporter.
I'm friends with many hardcore Giant fans (many who own Eli jerseys) and they were turning against him last year. So you may be in the minority there.

Yeah so far it looks like the NFC is a step or two ahead of the AFC. Times have changed. Maybe last years Super Bowl wasn't a shock after all. The Colts could easily be 0-4 this year. They really had no right winning against the Viking OR the Texans. Chargers are off to a rough start, their defense isn't nearly as strong without Merriman. Bills are solid, but I'm not completely sold, nor am I with the Titans. Both teams are good defensively and have solid run games, but don't really scare you with the passing game. But the AFC is wide open. No team stands out right now. Of course there's a long way to go but most teams have a lot of work to do.
I'd have to say the Giants are the most balanced team right now in the NFL. Solid on both sides of the ball, both passing and running defense/offense. The Redskins have looked great since the first game of the season though. They're right up there. It really takes till about Thanksgiving or so till teams really start to take shape, so a lot can happen between now and then. A team could go on a 5 game winning/losing streak right now and completely change the outlook. At this point last year, not even the most hardcore Giants fan could've predicted they would've won the Super Bowl. They were calling for Eli's head and for Coughlin to be fired. We've still got a ways to go.

How about the Dolphins? Maybe they're not that bad after all. Thought that win over New England was a fluke, but they followed it up by pretty much dominating the Chargers. I didn't see any highlights, but from what I heard they used that "wildcat" offense again, and it worked again. Parcells has already seemed to make a difference there. They at the very least cannot be overlooked anymore.
The Bills were due for a loss. Arizona is a very good home team. They can't win when they come east it seems, but they're tough to beat at home (the heat is rough). The injury to Edwards didn't help I'm sure. I think the upcoming bye week too may have played a factor. It seems SOME teams have sort of gone into their bye weeks a week early this year. The Pats got trounced by the Fins before their bye week. The Giants nearly lost to the Bengals at home before theirs, now the Bills. Could just be a coincidence, but maybe some guys are looking ahead to the bye before they actually get there.

The song isn't even going to be on the movie soundtrack, so I highly doubt they'll release it as a single.
#6678 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy dreams (and nightmares) » 873 weeks ago
ahh the plot thickens...so lets play psychiatry
The anticipation builds up for the song, you go out of your way to hear said song and after being left high and dry, thirsty for more, by the time comes to actually hear the song you forget about it...ironic
p.s. I'm just messin with ya
I didn't even realize some of this movie DOES take place in a DESERT. I saw a commercial for it during Monday Night Football last night and at least that's how it appeared. My dream just got a little more strange.
#6679 Re: Guns N' Roses » The "Best Buy" leaks » 874 weeks ago
why can't some crazed fan break into axl's house and demand the album at gun point? i am surprised this hasn't happened earlier.
Don't give anyone any ideas.

I see where you're coming from, but I just don't think it's that big a deal. He's a fan of Guns N' Roses. He was a fan before he joined the band. He's basically paying homage to the guys that came before him. Is that so wrong?
