i like Slash...as it happens. im just pointing out the 2 faced hyprocrisy of the whole thing.
dont bitch about some guy leaking when you have a cd in your hands of the same leaked tracks....thats probably from the same guy that leaked to begin with... Slash is an EX member btw. you think axl or anyone to do with him gave him a cd.. no
I know you gave up and went to bed, but the only way the 2 situations would be closely similar is if Slash streamed the material on his website. That's it. If you think he should've made a citizens arrest or called the police to turn the guy in for giving him a copy of CD, I don't think that's the way to go. As people have pointed out it's a lot different than making the material available to millions of people.
Slash is being awfully kind to Axl/GNR these days. Coincidence??? Seriously though, really nice of him to give those positive comments. He could've easily just said it was okay or different. He went into a little detail though. Good to see. Possibly laying the groundwork for a BIG ASS PAYDAY somewhere down the line. Or maybe he's trying to make amends for all the negative comments he's made about Axl in his book and elsewhere in the past.

Apparently so.
Axl further talked about 'Oh My God' and how that was just in a demo tape which the management insisted be put on the Arnie soundtrack which Axl said ok to hesitantly.
This is from a review on the 12/29/01 show in Vegas. No bootleg has surfaced so far, which is unfortunate. Therefore Ax can't be quoted in verbatim.
Those meddling kids also put an experimental edit of a Better demo to a Harley commercial. Nothing new under the sun.
I'm an Axl apologist an defender, so take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt. I believe him and don't think it's so hard to believe that management forced his hand to release "Oh My God" on "End Of Days". That was back in 1999, pretty much when Axl and company started working on new material, so obviously that song was quite fresh off the presses at that point. Heck, we're here nine years later and the album is only now finally finished. Axl has an entire different timeframe than any of us. In his words he was forced to tour in 2002, and 2006. It would only stand to reason that OMG was forced out in 99. And I think I heard people mention how he talked the song up before it came out or after its release only to turn that around after the public didn't exactly accept it with open arms. Well, if it was forced out, I'm sure he was under orders to talk the song up and not say, "yeah it's a rough demo, it's really not that good. They're forcing me to put it out".
Again, I know my opinion is hugely biased, but so are some of the people who believe NOTHING that Axl says. So there.
And I wonder if "Oh My God" would've been a bigger hit if it was on a soundtrack to a GOOD movie instead of that crappy film? I think the movie bombed much worse than the song did.
Oh, and in relation to "Shackler's Revenge" and present day. It's not 1999 anymore. It's 2008, and it's been confirmed by people in the bands camp that the album is FINISHED. That would mean to me that there wouldn't be any logical reason to put out a demo on a video game.
I'll play the devil's advocate though before anyone else does. Fast forward to 2012 when Axl says he was forced to finish the album in 2008 and put out a rough demo of a song on Rock Band.
If that happens, I'll have to stop believing in Axl. But as for now, I BELIEVE!!

I still love the song, but like CC, I haven't listened to it all that much THIS week. The first couple weeks I'd listen to it multiple times daily, but I've lessened quite a bit since then. Not because I no longer like the song though. I love "Breakdown" and "Rocket Queen" but I certainly don't listen to those songs on a daily basis, not even close, maybe monthly at best. Can't wait for it to surface, for real when Rock Band comes out.

I have heard that Axl said that. Never saw it for myself. I guess you have a point if that is in fact true. Though I could argue that that was nine years ago when the album was far from complete, let alone even started. It's done now, so that excuse wouldn't hold any water, not sure it would in the first place.
Did Axl really say that? There's gotta be more to that story.

Maybe they though "hey, Axl fucked up twice already, better get Slash instead"?
How did Axl fuck up last time? What'd I miss? And I would rule out GNR being there with Britney opening and Kanye closing. Hard to believe they'd agree to play somewhere in the middle.

Yeah the Giants played well early, then kind of went into "let's try not to blow this" mode. They were daring the Redskins to comeback, but the Skins didn't know how to do it. They looked lost.

Scabbie wrote:So whats changed?
One would hope that when RB2 is released Axl or GNR will come out of hiding and actually start doing some promotion...if not I think we can forget CD again for this year
SR will be treated the same way Oh my God was. Axl will say it was an unfinished demo by December of this year.
So Axl just decided to hand over an unfinished demo for a huge video game? That makes a lot of sense.
I clearly see you're frustrated and expecting the worst. I can't change that. The song MAY not be released as an official single, it MAY not signal the start of official promotion for CD. You've obviously decided this already. I'm willing to wait and see.
By the way, you can pretty much rule out a GNR appearance at the VMA's (for anyone who actually believed that was possible). With Slash being a presenter, Britney Spears opening the show, and Kanye West closing the show. That doesn't leave much room for Axl and the gang.

Faldor. don't give me that statement when I can redirect you to the statement Axl made of the tentative release date where he said we would be informed if the album was further delayed. Axl has dug his own grave and now he must get out of it.
My only point is we don't know the half of it. We know close to nothing. We may think we know anything and everything about the situation. We may think there's absolutely no reason why the album shouldn't be out by now, why we shouldn't have been informed on the progress or lack thereof, why we aren't given a rundown on Axl's daily routine through his own blog, why Axl doesn't babysit or house sit for the fans. We really don't know what's going on or what has gone on behind the scenes. You can speculate all you want and come to your own conclusions, but there are 2 sides to every story and I'm thinking those that are actually involved with the making of the album know the truth while the rest of us are just guessing.
That's all.
#6769 Re: The Garden » 2008 NFL season » 877 weeks ago
It's probably a combination of both. I expected the Giants to come out firing on all cylindars with their emotions running high in front of the home crowd. Out to prove those wrong who really aren't giving them much of a chance at repeating, let alone make the playoffs. And they did early on, then they kind of sputtered. Their defense looked solid, combined with a lackluster offensive effort from the Redskins. Never really viewed as an offensive juggeraut in recent years and they showed why tonight. They played from behind with little to no urgency in the latter stages of the game. They looked pretty bad. I don't think you can take too much out of this game other than the Giants are a better team than the Redskins. And I don't think many people disagreed with that before tonight anyway. Both teams have good defenses, and solid running games. Eli didn't look as good as he did during the playoff run last year, he looked shaky at times but made enough plays to win. Campbell looked pretty bad. They must see something in him in Washington that I'm just missing.

I don't know, things are kind of slow on the VR front right now. Slash is sticking up for Axl and Chinese Democracy. Axl seemingly is short a guitarist and Slash is lacking a singer. Could this be the "big surprise" MTV is promoting?
Yeah, I doubt so too. They've probably got the New Kids on The Block re-union planned out to launch on the show or something equally as lame.
