People around here really need a sense of humor, but they get upset because that sarcasm has a ring of truth to it and that is why people get so worked up

or if GnR go back on tour then SA will get a different stand in Bassist than Tommy

yea.

i THINK (tho this is only a wild guess) the fact tommy is doing solo shows, bumble is busy with his solo & guest projects & Dj is hanging with neil diamond, that perhaps PERHAPS GnR are experiencing some 'down time' or a 'dead period' & that SA has fuck all to do with what Axl wants to do.

edit: but that's just me, like.. i dont want to step on anyone's overly sensitive toes AGAIN.. at least not so soon..

When dont Gnr have down time?

Man 2001 GNR had so much promise. I remember listening to those old boots and being so excited... sad. Chinese Democracy from HOB sounds great..

kurt defo has cooler influences tho - i mean he's uber hip growing up with Black Flag/Bad Brains/SY/Pixies whereas Axl is kinda lumbered with 70's pretentious classic rock & 80's hair metal like Elton John/ELO/RATT..

"Hip" does not mean better. Zeppelin kicks the shit out of the Pixies and any of the other "hip" groups you care to name, including Nirvana.

i don't give a shit who kicks what & i never inferred hip meant better.

simply, it's easier for nirvana/kurt to be accepted 'cause they had influences that were considered 'cool' especially amongst music journalists at the turn of the 80s/early 90's when having a background in hardcore or indie music meant a lot more cred than overproduced dinosaur dadrock that axl was using as his influences.
a lot of the time axl is less zeppelin more liberace. he isn't cool and aloof, mysical & heavy like zep, he's a primadonna entrall to an age of rock star that doesn't exist anymore.

The thing is Axl always liked idie bands or bands that were not widely known. Axl was way ahead of the curve on bands like NIN, Radiohead and Soundgarden.

Great read.

I always saw Kurt as a guy who liked to manipulate the press/fans to perpetuate his own carefully constructed image and he used Axl to help do it. This article pretty much nails the 2 pretty good.

Yeah, Kurt was a HUGE hypocrite, liar and could be a HUGE jerk himself. But he's probably one of the most talented guy's in music ever. In Utero is in my top 5 albums.

Cobain is one of the most overrated people in music ever. He was not a very good singer, he could barely play the guitar and his lyrics were jibberish.  And I always find i amusing nirvana is always hailed as the best grunge and biggest grunge group when pearl jam were always bigger, better and more talented than nirvana.  Its only because Cobain offed himself do people hold him in such high regard.

I always laugh when i see Kurt Cobain near the top of best guitar players ever over people like eddie van halen, slash, steven vai etc etc.

That being said, 1991 is probably the best year for music albums in the history of music, I am not sure of another year (in my life team anyways) that one year had so many great albums.

If you think about it, imagine all the old line up footage they have. Why a Live Era DVD with the Perfect Crime Documentary (which would have been an absolute gold mine release, imo) would have been fantastic. Making Fucking Videos was really cool, but go figure, not on DVD. Why they've never taken this stuff more serious is beyond me. I'm not talking about now, but back in the day as well. Live in Tokyo just doesn't cut it.

Watching some of the 2006 tour right now. Damn, great shows, footage.

The funny thing is the toyko show a few nites before (where they played coma) was a much better show, and they didnt release that one instead.

So Beta is the one who claimed there was an agreement, Axl did not get it in writing, and Axl did not hear it from actiivision he heard it from his housekeeper.

No matter what anyone thinks of beta, she's been more than a housekeeper for a while and has been his "personal" manager.

And verbal agreements do matter.

They only matter if you can prove them, and if Axl is claiming Beta told him there was an agreement and that is the basis of the lawsuit Axl is screwed unless Beta taped the call. As anal as Axl is why wouldnt he get something like that in writing?

Its like me claiming you agreed to sell me your car for $200 and we had verbal agreement, you really think that is going to hold up in court if I cannot prove it? Nope.

Is activision claiming they never made this agreement?
