I'm gonna stick my neck out and say that gnu will headline one of the sonisphere UK dates this year. It's at the start of July.
Although after the fiasco at reading I think I'd rather see them at their own show as opposed to a festival

I just don't see how people are gonna be so interested w/out a new album behind the tour.
I mean their target audience is going to be roughly the same as last time around, ok most of us will be there with bells and whistles on, but for the less hardcore? Estranged and civil war certainly aren't going to part the hoards with their hard earned cash.
Maybe I'm wrong, but for gods sake at least make the tour sound fresh one way or other. At this rate the cd tour will be as long as the recording!

I wander whether a European tour so close to the rrhof is Axl's way of saying 'no way a reunion'.
Still kinda intrigued to see if the band have anything else planned other than touring.
They can't have done much work on writing if they're planning on going out again so soon

Possibly getting a tour in before the euro gets even worse.
I find it astonishing that they spent 15 million on cd and don't have another album to release without having to raise more funds.
Release cd as a double album, tour Europe then concentrate on a new album. I think everyone would be happy in this scenario.

russtcb wrote:I get what you're saying, but to me you don't need a reason to tour. If an artist wants to perform, they should do so. If people want to watch them, they should. IMO, everything shouldn't be about selling albums, etc.
And it isn't. At least in the sense of touring to make money off of albumsales.
Like we've discussed before. From a money-making point of view, an album is promotion for the shows. And it's been that way for many years now!
From my POV, if GNR needs to tour to make some money to fund further recordings. Bring it on!
Not if they need to raise as much money as cd cost!
