#6841 Re: Guns N' Roses » your current tracklisting » 879 weeks ago
OK well it seems unanimous that CD is first track on most peoples lists....However... if we have to wait fourteen years for an album, then fuckers, we want a goddamned box set - nothin' less. We want every version of every track on its own disc. So disc One will be every version known to man of Chinese Democracy, including the Radio Shack recorder version of Ax in his bedroom alone with the acoustic guitar. Disc number two is every version of Rhiad. Mean it. We waited long enough we want every version. Even Tom Zutauts. We want specific artwork for each disc and song. We want a poster, and board schematics from the studio. We want it sold in a KFC bucket. We want Ax's hand written diary of the whole project. Personally signed - not done by that forging jerk Goldstein [my copy of Ravioli Incident is apparently worthless, and I know someone who lost a breast due to it being a phony signature.] I want a map of the world showing where every leak has gone to and come from. Screw the cost of this we have been saving for fourteen years. Charge what you like. Stack it next to Hannah Montana. We'll be there. And then we want to be able to put whatever song in which ever version from which ever disc in which ever order we chose on whatever day. We want to exercise true Chinese Democracy.
I know you're just joking, but we're not really owed anything.
CD first, TWAT last seems to be pretty much a consensus, in between is all a matter of opinion.

TheMole wrote:madagas wrote:outside of a few nice solos, I don't think Slash has done anything beyond mediocre since 1991.
I'm friggin' sorry, but that's the biggest bullcrap I've ever read.
I mean, IFOCS blows every Axl demo out of the water, every single one of them. My gf cringes each and every time a nuGNR demo comes up on the car stereo, literally (to quote her: "Axl's vocals are annoying and the songs are boring"). Stop pretending as if it's the best thing since sliced bread, it isn't. What the rest of the boys have put out in the mean time is miles and miles beyond what Axl has done.
See, I wouldn't mind the endless waiting if the result was any good, but none of what we've heard up until now can even hold a candle to some of Slash's songs in the past 17 years. I tried soooooo hard to like this stuff, I actually used to be an Axlite (I actually fooled myself into thinkinh Oh My God was any good), but that ship has sailed long ago.
Neither Can I, Beggars, Dime Store Rock, Take It Away, Always On The Run, Serial Killer, Landslide, Big Machine, Slither, Fall To Pieces, Get Out The Door, Messages, Don't Drop That Dime, ...
all way better that any of the nuGNR demo's. "Is it comparison time yet" was the title of a post on the GNR forum here when the three new songs leaked. I'd say no, give Axl another decade or two to stop him from looking stupid.
Sorry for the rant, but I'm growing increasingly fed up with the anti-Slash brigade on here.
Want to reword this now that we have Shackler's?
That song blows anything Slash has done post-GNR out of the water. Nothing VR or Snakepit have done is as good as that song. Period.
Wow, that's quite the rant by The Mole. Since when did his girfriend become the dictator on what good music is? Maybe she could clue me into what I should be listening to these days, apparently I have no idea since I think all the leaks are great. I know this really isn't the time or the place so I'll stop right now.
I liked Contraband, Libertad didn't exceed or even reach my expectations but it was still a good album. I thought Slash did much better work on the first album, he seemed underutilized on the second. Maybe with a new singer they can reach new heights. Weiland wasn't exactly a slouch though. Not the easiest of shoes to fill, despite what the haters might say. The guy from Spacehog? Please!
#6843 Re: Guns N' Roses » Song #2 (Prostitute) is the biggest gun of all IMO » 879 weeks ago
Sorry to continue the off topic theme, but I think the guitar solos in TWAT stand up to ANYTHING Slash has ever pulled off. And I still am not convinced song 2 is "Prostitute".
#6844 Re: Guns N' Roses » "Chicken Dinner" Shackler's Revenge Leak » 880 weeks ago
I'll admit the first time I heard the song there was an initial shock of "what the hell is this?" But that went away towards the end of the song. Some people may not give it a chance, but I think a majority of people will hear "new Guns N' Roses" and listen the F up to see what Axl's been working on for so long. Maybe I'm giving people too much credit, but even if they hate Axl with a passion I still think they'll give it a listen.
I think the song would fit great on modern rock stations, it sounds quite current to what's out there today (the good stuff at least). Top 40 stations, not sure about that but I wouldn't rule it out.

It will auto draft for anybody that isn't at the live draft based on that person's rankings. There is no big deal to not being there other than last minute injury news (unlikely).
Yeah if for some reason you can't make the draft you can pre-rank the players. And as Buzzsaw alluded to I'd suggest moving guys who get injured and go on IR to the excluded list so you don't get stuck with them. Yahoo's rankings are pretty decent but sometimes if they'll draft you 4 QB's when you would've rather have taken an extra WR or RB or so. We'll try to get a time amiable for most if not all. And thank you all for joining. Love the enthusiasm. We went from 6 teams to 10 in one day, good showing.
And Neemo there's still room if you want in, that is if you're not already in there. Just so I have it straight, are you in there Buzzsaw, and if so which team? And machine, which team are you? I'm guessing either Demolition or Be Afraid. I've got the other ones figured out.
#6846 Re: The Garden » Fantasy football anyone? » 880 weeks ago
Ouch, I have a class until 9pm on Wednesdays.. Can I set mine to auto or have James make my first few picks while I'm not here?
Also, check if CC or Neemo want in on the league.
I could change it to 9:45 or so, if that would work. I have another draft that Thursday so that's out. I'd like to do this one before that, a little practice (the other draft is a money league). Monday and Tuesday nights I'm in a men's softball league, although we're in the playoffs and could be bounced next week. If we somehow advance to the championship though that'd be on either one of those nights. That's why I picked that Wednesday. We could move it up to the end of next week if we get enough guys in there. I'll check with Neemo and CC.

#6849 Re: The Sunset Strip » Sebastian Bach- Angel Down » 880 weeks ago
I missed the contest, but I have to say I really like Angel Down. I would've never bought it if it weren't for Axl's cameo, but I was pleasantly surprised with the rest of the album. Like the 2 ballads, the title track, and "You Don't Understand" the best.
#6850 Re: Guns N' Roses » "Chicken Dinner" Shackler's Revenge Leak » 880 weeks ago
Wow....great song...kicking my ass!!
Sounds like a bucket intro with Ron solos to me
What i think is being underrated in the talk is Axl....the hook is killer...simple but powerful lyrics...totally owns the song over all the chaos.
Love it and its been on repeat now for hours lol
Exactly, the chorus is so simple yet its catchy as hell.
