I agree. I hope he is NOT testing the waters.....but this is a man who has released 1 song of original material in 17 years and who has spent 14 years off and on in the studio trying to make an album.:nervous::headbang::flame:

Yeah I hear you.  I just don't know how they'd judge the results of the "test".  I thought the leaks went over pretty well, for the most part.  Both fans and media reviews were positive.  "Oh My God" didn't work out so well, but that was a stark difference to what fans were used to at the time.  Something(s) holding this thing up, maybe we'll find out exactly what some day.  I'm just not convinced that even if everyone in the world rose at once and proclaimed "Shackler's Revenge" the best song they've ever heard when it hits the airwaves, that it would make the album come out any faster.

what I'm saying is if the song doesn't go over well, he may can the whole damn thing.:nervous: Personally, I think he needs to drop the album before anything goes to radio, video game, movie, etc.

Not sure what it would take to pass the so called "test" in Axl's/managements eyes.  Do people have to say, "it's the best song I've ever heard."  "It's vintage GNR."  Will, "it's good, different, but good" suffice?  Not sure about the whole testing thing either.  Doesn't seem like a good way to plan.  You should have faith and confidence in the material and let it stand on its own.  Not wait to hear initial input to find out if it appeals to the public.

I am in.  Never done one of these before, up for the challenge though.

#6874 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR, Rock Band, the VMAs and 4 albums » 881 weeks ago

I just don't see a reunion happening any time soon.  I find it hard to believe that Axl would work this hard and long to pretty much admit failure that he couldn't do it without the guys who walked out on him over 10 years ago.  Doesn't make sense to me, and I think he's to proud a man to admit defeat.  I think a reunion somewhere down the road could be possible, after he tires of the current lineup or vice versa, which has already happened in a sense with Bucket, Brain, Robin, etc.
It just makes absolutely no sense to release CD with the new band, and turn around and reunite with the old band.  Where's the logic in that?  I know that's what some people WANT to happen, but let's be realistic.  Then again, nothing concerning GNR is realistic.

Will Ferrell IMO hasnt been funny since he left SNL.

Don't know if you've ever seen Anchorman, but that's one of my favorite comedies ever.  Granted some could view it as sophmoric humor, but I think it's hilarious.  Good cast too in the movie, which helped.  The entire news team added a lot to the overall humor and quality of the movie.  I agree his films since then have paled in comparison.  This one looks like it has potential though.  I'd give it a viewing.

Yeah, thats an interesting acquisition. I think he should be given a fair chance at the starting position though, as Maroney isn't really suited in that role in my opinion.

You're a Raider fan, right James?  What happened to Jordan the last 2 years?  Was it just a case of him playing for a hapless team, no offense.  Kind of like what Randy Moss went through.

Maroney showed flashes towards the end of last season.  They leaned on him more heavily down the stretch, until the Super Bowl of course when they reverted back to the passing game despite the fact that Brady got knocked on his ass repeatedly (sorry it still hurts).  He was more effective his rookie year when he split time with Corey Dillon so it's still not clear whether he can be a #1 back in the NFL.  Last season, Sammy Morris was the more productive back before he got injured and went on IR.  But again, Maroney has a lot of talent and showed that late in the season.  Lots of teams have gone the route of having 2 to 3 good RB's and rotating them, keeping them fresh.  I think it's a good, under the radar signing.

The Patriots made a minor interesting move over the weekend, signing recently released RB Lamont Jordan formerly with the Raiders.  He's had a rough last 2 seasons, but had a very good first season in Oakland.  So much so he fooled me into thinking he was the next big thing and had me draft him in the first round of my fantasy draft the next season.  Something I could never recover from, and finished near the bottom, but that's another story.

Of course it's not a given he even makes the team as he joins a crowded backfield that includes Maroney, Sammy Morris, K. Faulk, and Heath Evans.  All those guys except for Evans have had their fair share of injuries though, so some added depth never hurts.

Fuck.

Yes, they *seem* to have more of the song - just listen to that.

Dadud... this will forgive you for all your sins.:haha: 9 3

You're the man.:mosh:

Am I missing something? I just watched 8 mins of nerds talking about video games. What does that have to do with GNR?

Thank god you beat me to it, I watched it for about a minute before I read your post then just gave up.  Not sure what that was supposed to be.

Hrm....Hey James I just looked through my iTunes library, and guess what? I couldn't find This I Love, Sorry, or Prostitute(maybe) anywhere. .

List of the "epic" tracks hyped for years...

There Was a Time
Catcher in the Rye
The Blues
Prostitute
This I Love

We're only missing one of those, and since Ezrin basically said it was a 4 to 5 minute ripoff of NR, my expectations aren't that high.

I never said we've heard all the good songs. Said we had heard the hyped tracks.

There is a rumor about OMG with a special guest...

When's this rumor gonna become a fact?:haha:

I REALLY don't think that Song #2 is Prostitute, James.

I think it's more likely that it could be "Atlas Shrugged."

I don't think Song 2 is "Prostitute" either.  I have nothing to base that on, but then again I don't think there is any basis that it IS "Prostitute" either.

Has anyone ever read the book "Atlas Shrugged"?  Maybe that'd give some insight if the song ties in at all.

One thing that is surprising me, and this is just my point of view please don't go off on me for this, but how can any of you make any of these comments on 11 out of 70 songs? We haven't even heard a quarter of the songs and already people are saying it's nothing groundbreaking, or earthshattering. Can't you see? This is earthshattering! This project has used up 15 mill! 14
Seriously though, None of us have heard some of the more epic songs from this. For all we know(Axl said it and I believe it) this is FILLER  Show me a few albums that have filler as good as these songs.

I didn't hear, or read, Axl calling the tracks filler.  I have read some posts about how Axl laughed at the leaks though, along the lines that the quality was poor and they were clearly demos and nowhere near the finished product.  I do remember TWAT, Better, and The Blues being mentioned by Axl in an article as some of his favorites.  So while they may not be among the best of the bunch, they seem to be in his eyes.
