Yeah he didn't leave anything to chance. Got it all on VIDEOtape. That is messed up but I guess you could say the guy didn't give any specifics really. Not like he gave the release date or a tracklist, just what he's heard. Shows you really can't trust people. On camera he toed the company line and refused to comment, then "off the record" he tries to be a nice guy and open up to a fan. I guess he should know better when dealing with an information crazed GNR fan.

Well, if you didn't know. Harmonix is working with MTV to produce Rockband, so there's a link there. I don't think he's pulling the VMA rumor out of his ass. i think he knows atleast that GNR are in talks to play at the VMA's
Or he could've just heard that or put the pieces of the puzzle together that it would make perfect sense. I realize the guy has more credibility than the average Joe Schmo that posts on message boards, but he still didn't give any concrete information. A lot of possibilities, but nothing we haven't thought of and wished for before. I hope it all comes to fruition. The last couple of VMA's have been unwatchable. I don't know if Axl alone could save that sinking ship, in my eyes. I don't see a simultaneous release either, although that'd be fantastic and shut up the critics once and for all about "what has Axl been doing the past 15 years?" I'd think they'd like to stretch out the 4 albums, then again Axl loves to do things on a grand scale so, who knows? Only time will tell.

i was gonna say why would a harmonix dude take time out at E3 to spend with a gnr forum person? and then why would a Harmonix guy be privy to GnR release info? all he should know is what the song sounds like...in my mind anyway he didnt come off as a gnr fan so why would he care about that 4 album relase info crap
after mulling it over I smell a bit of bullshit here...
I don't know if it's bullshit or not, but I'm also not sure he knows much of anything. Haven't we heard for some time that there are 3-4 albums worth of material. I guess the simultaneous release is new information, but it seemed like he was just guessing at that. We've heard the VMA rumor every year for the last 6 years. Again he's deducing that it would be perfect timing with the song release being around the same time. I really don't think he knows anything for sure.
Regardless, that was a douchey move to secretively tape the guy and post it. Maybe just post the audio, at least keeping his image a secret.

Seems like this thing is about as official as it gets. I wonder if we'll get an official announcement from the band, and if so if there'll be anything further. You would think so, but then again this IS GNR.

At this point I couldn't give two shits quite frankly. There will be almost no surprise by the time the album comes out, if it EVER comes out.
If you want to be surprised, try not listening to the leaks next time around. Then you've got no chance of ruining your "surprise factor". Some people, you just can't satisfy.

I hope you're right and I agree now more than ever. If that does happen to be the case though, I wonder if that was by design or did things change somewhere along the line because of the leaks. i think they did change cause of the leaks and the never-ending making of the album. gnr had to leak the songs to help promote the tours since they couldn't get the album out in time. say what you want about the delays and axl, i am quite confident his intention was to have the first album out before the '02 tour and again before the '06 tour. combine that with the need to keep freshening up the songs as time goes on without releasing them, new ones popping up with continued work/revolving musicians, and the overall change in music relevance i'd say the potential tracklist has changed multiple times during the last 5 years or so.
They could easily write a book about the making of Chinese Democracy, it's been such a long drawn out process. The twists and turns, the conspiracy theories. That would be some fantastic reading.

It could easily fall through. After the Harley ad clusterfuck, no one in the GNR camp is gonna go out on a limb and confirm something of this nature. All he can do is confirm the existence of the song and its album status. Anymore details would be insane and most certainly damage his credibility if the Rock Band thing turned into another Harley ad.
The GNR camp really dodged a bullet regarding that Harley promo, because it was just so unprofessional on so many levels.
yes it was - anyone hear anything more about that one as far as contracts, future plans, etc.
i ask cause i wonder if gnr owes harley something or another. they must have had some sort of contract.
i can say it's different now cause the album is done.
with thh harley thing we got pretty believable info from merck afterwards that the album was not done like it was supposed to be in the timeline that had the commercial coming out featuring better as the first single.
Didn't Harley go ahead and use "Paradise City" for the ad? That would fulfill any contract they might have had I would think.

Like other people have said, I think it's anything goes at this point. We've heard a large number of rumored song titles and for one to pop up now that we've never heard, it points to how little we really know. Maybe the leaks were just to whet our appetite while we waited. Maybe they were never meant to be on the album in the first place, or at least some of them. Let's face it, the band debuted Maddy, The Blues, Rhiad, CD back in 2001. Those songs are seven years old by now. Maybe some will make CD, maybe some will be pushed back for future albums like "Back Off Bitch" and "Don't Cry" were back in the day. I'd be happy if it were the 9 leaks, Shackler's Revenge, Sorry, Prostitute, Atlas Shrugged, or whatever it might be. But I'd be even happier if some of the leaks were subtracted and we got more songs that we haven't heard yet. It'd almost be like getting a double album. We deserve that much after such a wait.
