This is demonstrably false. I'm not some Crowder fanboy, but he's had numerous guest with credentials. Protip, Bill Nye has a bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. He's not a scientist or credentialed to talk about climate change or biology. Do you watch the young Turks?

Surely anyone citing Bill Nye as a source is skating on thin ice, he is - first and foremost - an entertainer. Having said that, Nye at least knows and understands the scientific method and seems to genuinely be committed to finding the most accurate scientific explanation for the topics he discusses. Just like I would not dismiss Nye "just" because he's an entertainer, I'm not holding the fact that Crowder is a comedian against him either: you can be funny and smart at the same time. You can be opinionated and still hold the scientific method dear.

However, Crowder routinely displays a blatant disrespect for honest discourse. For instance: after having his "5 myths of climate change" video discredited by an actual scientist over a year ago he still refuses to engage in an honest and moderated debate to defend his points. His "team crowder" routinely posts demonstrably skewed and misinterpreted scientific data, copying misquoted excerpts from tabloid media verbatim on their "reports" even after the misquotes have been demonstrated to be false.
He's just not intellectually honest, he merely argues a point in order to confirm his world view, not to learn new things or change his position. He seeks out data to match his foregone conclusions, not to actually come to an accurate conclusion.

No, I do not watch the Young Turks. I will admit I watched some of their election coverage, but then I also watched Crowder and Alex Jones a bit back then as well, just to see the argument from both sides. I do not think TYT is a credible source either.

Flagg, you have to keep in mind that it's okay to think that Comey should've been fired over his handling of the Hillary scandal in the final days of the election process; yet at the same time feel that it's completely unethical for Trump to fire him when he's in the middle of investigating Trump's ties to Russia.

So let's just stick to the facts here:

That's some first level banana republic type shit, right there. Speculating, I think only three conclusions can logically be drawn:

  1. Trump has ties with Russia that he does not want exposed, and Comey's investigation was a threat to him. Sure, there's no proof of this, but given the above facts it's also not out of the realm of possibility

  2. Trump actually has belatedly come around to the idea that the way Comey handled the Clinton scandal was not appropriate, but is too dim to realize/doesn't care about how the optics of this are incredibly bad for him. I'm happy to believe that he just doesn't comprehend how ugly this looks, I'm not really inclined to think he has actually changed his mind about Comey's actions last October though

  3. There's a third unknown reason for firing Comey that the adminstration chose not to communicate, which raises the question as to why they would not just state that instead of coming up with what would then be a lie

Either way, bottom line is that even if you think Comey is the devil for nixing Hillary's chances of winning this election (that was a monumental mistake, if you ask me), it is perfectly fine to question (or even get outraged) about how Trump handled his firing (a clusterfuck of equally monumental proportions, if you ask me). No contradictions there.

Apparently I'm "The guitar god, standing proud, leaning back, playing some orgasmic tune."
And I consciously stayed away from the obvious Slash things, like the snake and the leather smile

Also, I found it funny that one of the options for the "choose a girlfriend" questions was a pic of Duff smile

The one community in which forums still seem to be thriving is retro computing (you know, nintendo/atari/sega/amiga stuff). I'm part of one such site (atariage.com), and it just keeps on growing...

Do you not understand the distinction between Egypt, Turkey and Saudi Arabia and those other nations (that Obama identified in December 2015)?  Which nations are openly hostile to the US?  Turkey is petitioning to join the EU for fucks sakes, but sure, lump them in there with Syria or Iran.

You're a (ex?) military guy, right? So of course you're apt to think in terms of countries. The problem is that muslim extremism isn't tied to specific countries, it's a bunch of extremists employing guerrilla tactics. Sure, certain governments might overtly or covertly support ISIS, but don't you think that past attacks in Europe and the US have proven that where one's passport was issued is not a good indicator of whether or not they are likely to become a muslim terrorist? San Bernardino was an American and his Pakistani born/Saudi Arabia raised wife, Brussels and Paris were Belgian/French, Nice was a Tunisian, Berlin was a Tunisian, ...

Oh, and of course, the suspects of yesterday's terrorist attack on a Canadian Mosque are a Canadian citizen and someone of Moroccan decent... (no word yet on his nationality).

I could be wrong, but I'm having a hard time coming up with recent examples of terrorist attacks in the West perpetrated by citizens of those 7 countries...

So, feel free to keep thinking in terms of countries if it gives you a false sense of safety when Trump does stupid shit like this, but don't fault the rest of us for realizing that this whole thing is just a bunch of rhetorical nonesense with only immediate negative side effects for hundreds of people. Not to mention the further damage it does to the US's reputation amongst the international muslim community, therefore giving ISIS exactly the recruiting tools they need.

Trump is a stupid cunt, there's just no other way to put. I'm pretty sure you're not, but you're being fooled by his bravado and posturing.

Fucked up the EO big time, has absolutely zero bearing on your actual safety as an American citizen, alienates entire minorities, impacts the visa waiver program from actual allies, creates instant chaos in airports (doing considerable economical damage), contradicts himself, reverses parts of the decision, looks like an absolute nitwit in doing so. Nice...

Cool. Sincerely, very cool... I would've preferred it if this came from Bernie, but it's the result that matters. Now let's just see what he replaces it with ('cause replace it he'll have to). Given that he and most of his cabinet seem to be hell bent on fumbling their way through his term, I'm not optimistic about that.

Don't bother. I'll summarize it for you. Trump is Hitler. We're living under a fascist state. America will be gone in 6 months and we'll all be eating rats and dying in the streets. Everything Obama did was positive, and martial law should have been declared to keep Trump from being sworn in because someone has evidence (no one has seen it,but it exists) that Trump is being controlled by Putin and that Trump directly worked with Putin to hack the DNC.

You talk a lot about hyperbole from us lefties, but this here summary certainly has to take the cake in that department, wouldn't you agree smile?

No... nothing inherent to a single payer system will lead to longer waiting periods. Yes, people won't be able to pay their way to the front of the line anymore, BUT on average the waiting times, when a single payer system is implemented properly (i.e. with proper competition between the health providers), will be the same.

Yes, the UK and to a lesser extent Canada have longer waiting times, but that's a result of funding cuts by the government. In other words the government cannibalizing the income from the single payer system to cover other holes in the budget. When properly funded, a single payer system is as efficient, if not more efficient than a fully privatized system. Merely by virtue of economies of scale, the single insurance provider (i.e. the government) would be able to negotiate lower prices for drugs and treatments, greater accessibility, better coverage, etc...

Why the fuck would he need to be pardoned, he's not even serving jail time?

Well he did have to serve 2 years of probation and pay a $100,000 fine. And he did far less than this person. Would be nice for him to get a pardon to get it off his record?

Manning didn't get a pardon either, she only got a ludicrously long sentence commuted to something slightly more sane (but still long for the crime she actually committed). You're advocating that a guy who's made similar, although admittedly less grave, mistakes FOR THE SAKE OF PUSSY gets a pardon (again, something Manning didn't get). Also, you don't serve probation, you're on probation... it's not like he wasn't free to go wherever he wanted. All probation basically is, is a warning: if you do anything like this again, we'll throw your ass in jail for real...

You have to admit that the incarceration figures in the US are completely out of whack. Repeat after me: more people in prison per capita than China! This is of course partly because of ill-advised policies such as the war on drugs, partly because of overzealous racial profiling, but at least in part also because of overly long sentences handed down by uber conservative judges that haven't yet caught up with the concept of correctional sentencing and get a hard-on from punishing people who've made mistakes. Commuting sentences is one of the ways Obama could correct some of the more egregious cases (such as Manning's).
