#61 Re: The Sunset Strip » Holy Shit Fuck! Chickenfoot's Cd Is Awesome! » 836 weeks ago
Yeah I just saw the charts for Chickenfoot at number two. Not bad considering that it was a throw together band. Joe Satch is of course an amazing guitarist. I'm surprised that the cd reached that level. But than again who knows? Music might be taking another turn and stripped down rock & roll might make a comeback to the music industry and public.
The Van Halen cd called F-u-# # with Sammy is actually the best Van Hager cd that I find listenning to. It seems that one has some real great guitar work by Eddy and the lyrics by Sammy were not that cheezy as far as most of the material on that cd.
#62 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Use Your Illusion II » 836 weeks ago
You also have to consider that when they were recording use your illusion I & II the band members were going through some 'heavy distractions' across the board. Perhaps if they didn't suffer the departion of Steven Adler; Axl and Slash starting to get on each others nerves; Izzy losing site and faith in the band; Duff (perhaps drinking a little too much) and on top of all this the sudden impact of fame and pressure on the group as a whole, they might of made some better decisions on what songs to keep on both releases and which ones should of been left off those two releases.
But when success hits you like that and you're world is a roller coaster ride it's difficult to write and record songs for a follow-up. Plus the fact that it wasn't just the band or Axl and Slash trying to produce both LPs and satisfy the whole, the producer and Bob Geffen had their opinions on all the tracks that were being recorded. What a hell of a way to make a supreme follow-up to Appetite.
What's funny is when they made Appetite I bet they didn't have half the difficulties in making that lp. Yet that lp still stands the test of time. Not bad for just setting up some microphones and capturing the band onto tape without all those extra executive decisions and studio tricks.

I'm looking into the crystal ball......Hmmmmm
I see after Axl calms down a bit he will approach his career of one or two ways: He will audition an unknown lead guitarist and drummer who will be the new nucleus behind Axl. They will pick up a bass player and another guitarist to do the backup parts. Dizzy will be on keyboard duty. After three months of intense rehearsing they will do a mini-tour to promote CD. While they are touring the lead guitarist and Axl will begin writing songs as a team. They will come up with some new hard rock music that will inspire a new audience.
After the mini-tour they will go into the studio and record the new material and release it under a new group name. As a result of leaving the past behind Axl and his new partners in crime will accidentally skyrocket and become a number one seller on the music charts. Old and new G&R fans will realize that the new group is something so special they will give thumbs up to the new band and pay them the well earned respect they deserve because they proved themselves to be a great band without hiding under the G&R logo or past associates of the band!!!!

You know with all respect to Axls manager I think it's kind of funny. Sort of like the owner of the Yankees firing Billy Martin........than rehiring him.:haha:

Axl is not washed up. He needs to give me a call so that I can team up with him as a lead guitarist and give him the support of both our middle fingers pointed up at the world of music!!!! He needs people in the band that are going to stand on the same ground as he does.
Axl----my is waiting to take the stage man!!!! Let's set the record straight once and for all.

We all come in from the cold
We come down from the wire
An everybody warms themselves
to a different fire
When sometimes we get burned
You'd think sometime we'd learn
The one you love is the one
That should take you higher
You ain't got no one
