#61 Re: The Garden » Help wanted — jobless need not apply » 748 weeks ago
I can say from my own experience that not everyone is being lazy/refuses to take "any" job, etc. I moved to another state in July last year, and I went looking for every any any job. I applied to jobs every single day, went to workforce centers, etc. Eventually it gets depressing and you feel like an utter failure. I did get called for interviews once in awhile, and would never hear back. I finally took "any" job, a seasonal, on call job for a retailer at Christmas. I worked MAYBE three days a week, for 4-5 hours a day. Once all the Christmas stuff was put out, I got cut to on call, meaning I would work one day a week. I left once that happened. I knew it was on call, and I wasn't being promised hours, and I took it, because it was something. I went back to looking in January, and I JUST got hired last week for a full time job. I spent seven months looking, and every day was torture. So its not for lack of trying on my end, not by a long shot.
On the other side, I have a friend who was fired from his job, and the company didn't block him from getting unemployment. He stayed on unemployment for as long as possible, simply because he was making more than if he took a menial part time job someplace else. He took every extension offered, and when it finally was set to dry up is when he went looking, and wound up with a part time retail job anyway.
So I can and have seen both sides. I agree some are lazy, don't want to bother looking, or take advantage of the system. But not EVERYONE is like that, and yes I do feel the economy has something to do with the fact that certain people have been without work for so long. When you have 100 people applying for a job looking for only 10, the other 90 are left to keep looking, and to keep hoping. It's not easy to look and not get discouraged when nothing comes along. I feel very fortunate to have my job now. But I think to lump everyone into the category of "lazy" or not bothering to look is unfair.

I was thinking about this thread last night. Wondering how people like MSL get privvy to this "secret information". Hoping that maybe, just maybe, he was on to something, and that we would actually hear word on something. The thing is, if we don't, he can come out tomorrow and just be all "well, guys I'd love to share what I have, but I have lawyers up my ass, so......" I don't know if what he has is real. If something happens, then does it prove its real, or is it just coincidence? If nothing happens, does it make it fake, or is it just GNR changing their minds again? (I honestly think I think about this too much)

Axlin- thanks for the welcome. I'm still on here, I come by, I just don't post much. I'm what you could call a fangirl, so stuff like this has me going "omgomgomg* inside.
Hunter- Being a stripclub wouldn't stop me from going for one hot second. And, according to Jarmo at HTGTH, he says it's fake. I guess I'll have to wait to see. That's Superbowl weekend, and Dallas is likely going to be a madhouse because of it.

From the chat session from MSL- "I have spoken to GNR, so the leaking is on hold" It's about all I caught because he was gone soon after he said that.
I don't know what to think about any of this. Someone said it earlier, and I agree- this is what kept me hanging on for so long. The glimmer of hope, the rumors, maybes, what ifs, all of it. It's all we had back in the day, but it was SOMETHING. Even if it was fake, or turned out to not happen, it was better than silence. I don't know if anything is going to happen. I know I'm hoping for something more on this Dallas show Saturday the 5th. That's my birthday, and I'm 4 hours from Dallas. I'd make the trip on even a 50% chance of Axl showing up.
#65 Re: Guns N' Roses » Sturgis, South Dakota, USA (Rock 'N Rev Festival) » 775 weeks ago
I am probably one of the few remaining here who would pay to see Axl do just about anything. I'd have gone to Sturgis if I could have afforded to. Maybe the setlist is old, or tired, or what have you. Considering this is the first US date they have played since 2006, I would call it a good night. Sure the waiting forever for them to come on and play may get tiring, but anyone who halfway knows GNR knows that Axl never comes on on time. Its just what he does. I for one like that review very much. The guy is a fan and for him it was worth the wait. Sure we can sit here and pick Axl apart, but at the end of the day does anything really change? I've spent far too long on this ride to get off, and until Axl Rose walks out and hangs up the mic, I'm not going anywhere.

So I did a google map search. it would take me 23 hours to get out there. I looked on the website for the festival, and the GNR banner is on the front page, but when I click on event info they're not listed. I'd totally take a few days to drive up there to see GNR.
#67 Re: The Garden » BP's top kill effort fails to plug Gulf oil leak » 786 weeks ago
I don't understand any of it. Fingers can be pointed all day long, that's not going to stop the oil. It's been six weeks already. From the little bit I've heard and read BP was supposed to be able to handle a disaster ten times this size. I don't even want to think about how much more awful this would be if it was that big from the start. EVERYTHING BP is doing, or trying, is failing. And every day that goes by more oil leaks into the ocean. BP should be forced out of business, and out of our hair. They should have to pay for their stupidity, and not be able to do business. The government can come in with flags waving and all sorts of good intentions, and it's not going to fix the fact that BP failed massively. The fact that SIX WEEKS LATER no one has any idea of what to do or how to fix it proves that BP has no fucking clue what to do here. I haven't been keeping real close tabs on this because it makes me angry. I read the articles about BP trying this and that and throwing their hands up in the air all "OMG what do we do now." Um, how about FIX IT? How do you build an oil rig and not have a plan on how to plug a leak if something bad happens? Then you run around like a chicken with your head cut off with no idea of what to do, because everything you have to fix it fails. Find someone to fix this shit, and kick BP to the curb.

I just want to say that this was a pleasure to read. I have been an avid watcher of Shawn Michaels for a very very long time. I was very sad to see him go, but I knew it was only a matter of time. It was the end of a very long road, one that I am very, very greatful he shared with us.

Axl is GNR for me.
My favorite line up is gone and is never getting back together. Accepted. Moved on.
As long as Axl is there I'm still interested, even if I have nothing invested in the current line up.
It is what it is. The rest doesn't mean anything. Boycotting is pointless. And so is griping about the name.
I 100% agree and couldn't have said it any better myself.
I for one am really excited for this tour to kick off. I'm looking forward to Axl being back out on the scene.
