I truly believe enough people were backing him up right through the release of this record. Radio stations across the country debuted the single at 6am the day it came out, they played the album in full the weekend it came out. The album was made available for download on Rock Band. These aren't things that happen with every release for every band. The mainstream media was primed for a Guns N' Roses comeback but all the momentum was quickly lost when nothing was done to support the singles, album, etc. Why should radio stations and the general public care when it doesn't seem like Axl does? perception.

axl still had a lot of people backing him up right then and there. but somehow it all went astray.
2006 was it.
I had stopped caring about GN'R years ago, but Merck's "13 Tuesdays left" brought many old fans back into the fold.
The fucking lied to us and they fucking blew their chance.
The album should have been out in 2006.

you wanna know where my copy of Chinese Democracy is? I can't tell cause I can't remember where the fuck I put it. And why I can't remember where it is? Cause I stopped listening to the album a week or 2 after it was released. And don't blame the leaks cause the leaks weren't on a regular rotation neither. The album lacks something that is called good lasting music. Not a bad album but not a memorable one. So because of that CD is probably where my Libertad album is (another album I have no clue where I put it).
You might want to try alphabetizing your CDs or arranging them by year.
Another idea is to get some sort of display rack, that way you can keep all of your CDs in one place.
Try to remember the last place you saw them, and then re-trace your steps from there.

but you're going after the people that downloaded the leaks or downloaded this album without buing it.
you're standing here saying they are not true fans. well, here i am. i can be put in both those categories (got the leaks, didn't buy the album). please, why am i not a fan? i am open to discussion if i am a G N' R fan if you bring valid points.
and you didn't say what a G N' R fan is in your view.
You should really buy the album.

Billboard: The last time Guns N' Roses had a new album out, the Internet was barely a reality. What was your response to the nine-song leak this summer?
Axl Rose: Having someone jeopardize your efforts so cavalierly is pretty much a nightmare. I don't know that it hurt us though, at least as one might think. Hard to say. That's not to imply leaks don't hurt artists, but that they were earlier roughs and the level of sound quality is much higher with the finals.

If the RIAA wants to "make an example" of Kevin, I suggest that we do the same and "make an example" by leaking a few more tracks.
