#712 Re: Guns N' Roses » Your Choice of Producer (And Why) For Guns Next Album... » 422 weeks ago

It's dead, Jim.

But if they had a record they really wanted to make, then they should logically find a producer that fits that vision.

I think a post-industrial record with ambient soundscapes, piano, and acoustic guitar is largely their only play if they're making new music with any degree of freshness. A more arty GN'R Lies.

Not exactly an inspiring description. I would naturally listen as I love Zo... I mean Madagascar.

Yes of course but if I had my way, it would be maximum Bucket on new Guns stuff. Especially on the melodic tunes.

Maybe the universe will allow us to hear the alternative versions one day.

I wasn't gonna get greedy. 16

My interest in CD falls along Axl, Bucket, Brain, Pitman lines so anything that maxes out my favorite dudes, I gotta go for first.

It'd of course be killer to hear that too.

Another interesting tidbit, if near ancient gossip is to be believed...

Izabel Oliviers, fan wrote:

Axl also mentioned that Catcher in the Rye will be on the third record.

He said that CD will be a very intense record and the second one will be more of introspective.

He said they'll keep on touring and that he really enphasized they'd be back in the summer at the end of the show because this is going to happen (which makes me wonder about these cancellations...) At this point someone asked if CD was coming out in 2002, and he said no (kinda obvious, but....).

Axl in good spirits before the infamous tour cancellation. A comment on the album's thematic direction. Curiouser and curiouser.

Any way, the leaked demo of this song has grown on me immensely throughout the years. Sublime work by Brian, Axl's delightful vocals, and lovely keyboard work by Pitman. The final version is another sad example of a melodic solo being replaced by overly shrill riffing.

I haven't read the book in ages but will be sure to check back on Neemo's post in the future. smile

I stumbled upon this and thought it was humorous...

You’ve got to remember as well that there have been versions of this CD kicking around since 2001 or 2002. There’s one record company executive, who I dare not name, who was playing privately for journalists in London in the summer of 2007, his version of the album, which dated back to when he worked on the project — 2001 or 2002, when it was first on the schedules to be released. And these were finished tracks.

I guess that solves that one. 16

Give me that sweet, sweet 2002 CD. bucket 11

#718 Re: Guns N' Roses » Oh My God and the Thesis of Chinese Democracy » 423 weeks ago

Both Oh My God and Silkworms had much more verve at the House of Blues show.

The club setting forced Axl to restrain himself and not chase after his halcyon days from stage line to stage line. Brain was in peak form and it sounded as if his drums would tear the building from it's foundations and Axl's electronica spaceship would soon take off into the stratosphere.

That band was built for the clubs. "The electro-industrial art house rock band everyone is buzzing about". "Everyone's new favorite guilty pleasure". Axl quietly yet publicly regains his artistic street cred and vocal footing after a long dormancy. The band coalesces. Then, the album finally appears. A stadium tour is booked. The VMAs. Round one knockout blow. Gotcha.

Alas, time and tide...

Bucket will be touring this year with old pals (Guns N' Roses / Chinese Democracy project vets) Brain and Dan Monti.
